Time and time again, we've highlighted the virtues and benefits of jailbreaking your iPhone, iPod and iPod Touch. And if you have been a regular reader of this website, then you know that there's nothing that we love more than bringing jailbreak tweaks that we think is worth your time. Some of these jailbreak tweaks can be very useful in improving the user experience while there are those that are less useful but offers either a cool or unique functionality. Today we will be bringing you a jailbreak tweak that most people will find useful.
If you are an owner of an iOS device, then you should be familiar with the functionality called Spotlight Search which is accessed by flicking left from the first page of the Springboard. Spotlight is used to quickly search for an app or do a quick Google search, definitely comes in handy if you have a bazillion of installed apps. But in my experience, I hardly use the feature at all. In fact, I find it to be more of an annoyance because it can be easily accessed from the Homescreen by accident. And this is why tweaks like NoSpot exists. Besides if you are someone who makes an effort to organize your Springboard, Spotlight search becomes unnecessary.
Now if you want to actually make Spotlight search immensely useful by adding it with another function like enabling quick access to a to-do list, then here's a tweak for you. The name of the tweak is called TodoNotes which is developed by moeseth. The tweak basically adds a note which can be viewed inside Spotlight search. It could be your shopping list, a inspiring quote, an address or phone number, pretty much any sort of information that you want. This basically works like a sticky note only that it can be viewed through Spotlight search and can be easily accessed from the Springboard.
Using the tweak is pretty straightforward. First you just need to open the native iOS Notes app and compose a new note. Once you're done, just tap on the "envelope" or email icon below and you will be given an option to Push to ToDoNotes. Tapping the option will cause the note to be sent over to Spotlight search. So whenever you need to view the note, just access Spotlight search at any time. Easy! It is a neat little tweak that I'm sure most people would find useful. And best of all, ToDoNotes will cost you absolutely nothing.
And as usual, before you can start using ToDoNotes you need to have your device jailbroken first. In case you haven't opened your device to the wonderful world of jailbreaks yet, we have a couple of complete guides to help you out. If you are currently under the latest iOS 4.3.5, then we suggest that you use our Redsn0w guide which is a tethered jailbreak. If you however prefer to have untethered jailbreak, then we suggest you restore to iOS 4.3.3 and jailbreak your device using one of the following: Redsn0w, Sn0wbreeze, PwnageTool and JailbreakMe (highly recommended for beginners).
ToDoNotes is available in Cydia under the BigBoss Repo for FREE.
