There is no doubt that Apple fans and tech heads all over the world are down with the hype that surrounds the next iPhone. For a couple of months now, the tech world is treated to a barrage of reports regarding the iPhone 5, from its design and specifications to its speculated release date. Although most of them are rumors and speculations since Apple has yet to even confirm the existence of the device. And now for another iPhone 5 rumor, another report claims that the iPhone 5 will feature a 3.7 inch edge-to-edge display.
This is according to a report of Taiwan-based IT insiders DigiTimes which says that sources from upstream panel suppliers have revealed that the display area of the iPhone 5 will be less than 4-inch. If you have been paying attention to the rumors that are circulating with regards to the iPhone 5's specs, then you'll know that it is expected to have a larger display than the iPhone 4's 3.5 inch screen size. To be specific, the rumors claims that the next iPhone will have a 4.2 inch display which is a significant improvement.
Despite rumors about iPhone 5 featuring a 4.2-inch panel circulating within the IT market for a while, following a leak from Apple’s website in Switzerland in early August, sources from upstream panel suppliers have recently revealed that the iPhone 5?s panel size will still be less than 4-inch.
In addition, iPhone 5?s back design will be changed to a metal chassis instead of reinforced-glasses.
The sources added that the iPhone 5 will adopt a 3.5- to 3.7-inch panel with a design to allow the bezel of the panel to become thinner and make the screen look larger.
Of course, when it comes to a smartphone's panel size, the larger the better. So for someone who's eagerly waiting for the next iPhone, 4.2 inch screen size sounds a whole lot better than a 3.7 inch panel which is only a miniscule improvement over the iPhone 4. As we all know, Apple will be releasing the iOS 5 as well along with the iPhone 5. The iOS 5 is loaded with new features that could certainly benefit from a larger display size. So as far as rumor goes, we are hoping that this report does not turn out to be true because that would be quite a disappointment. And as usual, there is no way to confirm if this report is true or not until the inevitable upcoming announcement of Apple.
The iPhone 5 is expected to be announced by Apple sometime next month and will be released around mid-October. The next iPhone is said to be powered by the A5 processor chip (same as the iPad 2), will have an 8 megapixel camera and will be sporting a thinner, lighter design. In addition to that, it is also rumored that the iPhone 5 will be released alongside a lower-end 8GB iPhone 4.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
