Apple fans all over the world are in for a treat this upcoming fall as the company plans to release the major upgrade to their mobile operating system, the iOS 5. If you have been paying attention to the news with regards to this iOS update, then you know that it will be featuring 200+ new features. One of the most notable new features of iOS 5 is the fully revamped notifications system called Notification Center. And the jailbreak community sure loves the new notifications system as we have seen quite a good deal of third party widgets developed for it. And now we bring to you yet another jailbreak tweak for iOS 5's Notifications Center.
As part of the Notifications Center in iOS 5, users are able to integrate widgets into it in order to further expand its functionality. If you have been closely following our blog, then you should know that we have brought to you a few notable widgets like UISettings and OmniStat. Today we will introduce you to a new widget for the Notifications Center that's looking to top them all.
The name of this new tweak is called BBSettings. Yes it does sound like one of the most beloved jailbreak tweaks of all time, SBSettings. This is because BBSettings is developed mainly to serve as a replacement for SBSettings once iOS 5 becomes officially available. Although the interface will be rather different, BBSettings will provide the same functionality as SBSettings and more. Think of BBSettings as the lovechild of SBSettings and UISettings and you should have a pretty good idea on what's this particular widget is trying to achieve.
Once BBSettings is installed, you should be able to see the changes in the form of new widgets and toggles that are found in the Notification Center. In case you are wondering which features are included in this widget, here are some of them:
- WiFi. This section contains various information regarding your wireless internet connection which includes the SSID, channel, total packets, SSID, IP Address and so on.
- Process Manager. In this section, you will be able to view all the processes that are currently running in your iPhone. There is also a state description whether the processes are running or stopped or terminated. In addition, there is also a runtime column which indicates how long the process has been running.
- Memory Manager. Everything you need to know about memory usage is found in this section. Here you can view your total memory depending on your device, just how much memory is free and as well as the amount of RAM which are active, inactive or wired. You can refresh the data displayed by tapping the curved arrow icon.
- Toggles. Much like with SBSettings, you can set here your most frequently accessed toggles such Brightness, WiFi, Airplane Mode and so on, so that you can quickly access it anytime without digging into your iPhone's System Settings.
Since this is a tweak that's found in Cydia, needless to say, you need to have jailbroken iPhone, iPad or iPod touch. If you want to jailbreak iOS 5 into your device, then you can check out our Redsn0w guide. Since this tweak is for the Notification Center of iOS 5, this is not applicable for iOS 4 and below.
