Yesterday, we've brought to you a tutorial on how to enable the official Facebook app for the iPad. As it turned out, the iPad app is actually hidden inside the latest update of the Facebook app which is 3.4.4. The jailbreak community was somehow able to uncover that the much awaited official Facebook app for the iPad that was supposed to be released in the future. Unfortunately, Facebook seems to have caught wind of the early party of iPad owners and decided to pull the plug. Thankfully, the jailbreak community was on the case as they have found a way to re-enable the "hidden" Facebook app for the iPad.
Famed iOS developer chpwn has developed a new tweak called Faceforward that allows you to enable the Facebook iPad app quite easily. If you have tried out our tutorial for enabling the iPad Facebook app, then you'll see that the process can be quite complicated due to the fact that you will need to edit some plist file of the app. But with this tweak you should easily re-enable Facebook.
According to the Cydia page of Faceforward:
Re-enable Facebook’s iPad app. Facebook recently accidentally released their iPad app, but after TechCrunch posted about it, they quickly moved to disable access to Facebook from it. FaceForward removes that restriction, allowing you to use Facebook for iPad right now.
NOTE: For this tweak to work, you will need to have a jailbroken iPad. In case you need some help in jailbreaking your device then you can refer to these guides: for iOS 4.3.3 (Redsn0w / Sn0wbreeze / PwnageTool / JailbreakMe), for iOS 4.3.4 you can use Redsn0w and for iOS 5 you can use Redsn0w.
If you have an iPad 2, then you need to be in iOS 4.3.3 and jailbreak your device using JailbreakMe (don't worry, the process is very easy).
Steps on How To Enable Facebook For iPad Using FaceForward Tweak:
- Install the latest version of the Facebook app (version 3.4.4).
- Launch Cydia and search for the Faceforward tweak which is available under the BigBoss repository. Tap Install on the top right corner.
- Faceforward will now be installed. After that, restart your Springboard.
- Now all you have to do is launch the Facebook app that you have installed earlier. You should now have the Facebook for iPad app.
Again, this requires you to jailbreak your iPad. In our last tutorial there is a method that will work even on a non jailbroken iPad but that's not possible now. So only try out this tweak if you are quite knowledgeable with the nature of jailbreaking. So proceed with caution.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
