A few weeks ago, we have reported to you that Comex, famed jailbreak developer and author of JailbreakMe, was working on jailbreak solution for the iPad 2. He even teased it back then but after that we've heard no updates or news about from him. But after weeks of silence it seems that a version of JailbreakMe 3.0, a tool that includes support for the long awaited iPad 2 jailbreak, was leaked by one of the beta testers that was trusted by Comex.
As mentioned before, this jailbreak works for the iPad 2, as the folks from RedmondPie was able to test it and confirmed that it works. What you will be need is an iPad that runs iOS 4.3.3 and below (no iOS 5 support yet) and access to the Internet. And that's it, you don't even need to hook up your device to a computer. Here's a video of the alleged iPad 2 Jailbreak in action (which seems to have garnered hostile comments from many users):
Based on the video, here's what you'll need to do:
- Open up Safari and point at this URL.
- Once you've done it correctly, Safari will automatically close but don't worry because it is part of the process. After that you should be seeing the Cydia icon in your Home screen together with a progress bar.
- Wait for the Cydia icon to go away and reboot your iDevice. Now it will take some time before your device powers back up, so don't be alarmed. Once it does, you should already have a jailbroken iPad 2.
These files are not released by Comex himself, so there is no guarantee of the authenticity of this so called jailbreak tool. So in any way, we at Jaxov do not recommend this method nor do we condone the action of whoever leaked this. Comex is a trusted developer among the jailbreak community and we believe that he will release Jailbreak 3.0, when it is ready, which should be anytime soon. So we highly recommend that you wait for Comex's official release instead. iPad 2 owners have been waiting forever to jailbreak their device, so what's a few more days? 4th of July maybe? So use this method at your own risk.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
