After weeks of waiting, the official iPhone app of Google's newest social network Google+ has now been approved by Apple and is now available via the App Store. This is a great step towards Google+'s expansion in addition to its web only application. Although as it turned out the app doesn't seem to support the iPad and iPod touch devices. This was a rather baffling omission from Google considering that owners of the device weren't even given an option to download the application. Fortunately the folks over at iDownloadBlog has managed to get their hands on workaround that lets you install Google+ in an iPad or iPod touch.
Steps on How to Install Google+ app in Your iPad or iPod touch:
Note: This tutorial is tested for the iPad but it is assumed that it will work on the iPod touch as well.
- First, you will have to download the iPhone Configuration Utility. This tool is mainly used by developers as it lets the user install apps even if Apple hasn't approved of them yet.
It is worth noting that the official Google+ app is not really optimized for the iPad. Since it is an iPhone native app only, display problems should be present due to the iPad's larger resolution. Keep in mind that this is only a workaround, so it is not guaranteed that the App will behave 100% like it was designed to do with the iPhone. Google is highly likely to release an official app that should work flawlessly with both devices. So it is recommended that you wait for that instead.
