How to Install Dreamboard & Dreamboard Themes on iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad [Complete Guide]

Just a while ago, we have reported to you that the theming platform Dreamboard is now available for free. Dreamboard is an alternative to Winterboard which features even more advanced theming options that could radically change the user interface of your iOS device. And since it is now available for iDevice users for free, we will be providing an extensive tutorial on how to install Dreamboard and as well as how to install Dreamboard themes.

Warning: Make sure that you have created a backup of your iDevice before proceeding with the Dreamboard installation. Because of the way in which Dreamboard overwrites almost all the System files that are necessary for your themes to run, there is practically no way to revert the changes back if in case anything goes wrong. Your only way out is a complete Restore of your iDevice. Proceed with caution.

How to Install Dreamboard Themes

Dreamboard comes with the Endroid theme by default but now many developers have created more themes for it. Some of them, especially the paid ones, can not only drastically change the way your device's UI looks but it can completely change how you interact with the device itself. There are two ways on how to install Dreamboard themes, one is via SSH and the other is via Cydia.

Installing Dreamboard Themes via SSH:

Step 1: If you haven't already, download iPhone Explorer so you can add files into your jailbroken device.

Download iPhone Explorer for Mac
Download iPhone Explorer for Windows

Step 2: Open iPhone Explorer and navigate to Root Directory and click on the Dreamboard folder which is the folder for the theme files.

Step 3: From here, you can simply drag and drop the theme files into the Dreamboard folder. Make sure that you are uploading the file theme. If the theme is zipped, then extract it first before uploading to the Dreamboard folder.

Step 4: Now launch the Dreamboard app in your iDevice and if you've done things correctly, you should be able to see the new theme that you've just added.

      Hi,

Are you sure you are not using a cracked version of Dreamboard? Be sure that you’ve gotten it from the ModMyi repo…

What do you mean with “all your in-built app is missing”? I have same problem here with icon..

All your in-built apps meaning your out-of-the-box stock iOS apps.

hey does that mean, dreamboard is only for iphone4 user, i have iphone 3gs, factory unlocked (coz i am successfully using am indian carrier, even after a software update).
    i am on BB 05.16.02 iOS 4.3.3 firmware…
i could get winterboard, but not most of my apps icons are not getting displayed (like Maps, games, though i can search for them thru spotlight) and even on the lower half of the screen its unsed, like the icons have been shifted updwards, and touching each others on the edges.

Your continuing your queries for the same post somewhere else. (Previously here) & now under this topic. I request you to stick to one post at a time and reply under the relevant topic of issue so as to avoid confusion to other readers.

You need to check Winterboard’s relevant settings to see what you have hidden. In you case, all your in-built apps are missing.
Dreamboard is also compatible with the iP3GS, but on the iP4, it runs best.

Probably Yes. You’ll need to go and check within the settings for that particular theme that your using in Dreamboard.

I tried installing, but it returns the error: “I wasn’t able to locate file for the coreutils package. This might mean you need to manually fix this package.” “coreutils” does not exist in the Packages page in Cydia, nor can I find it using the search function. Thoughts?

NM, I should have let Cydia finish updating its packages before moving to search for DreamBoard. Works great!

Hey have sorted fix for DreamBoard iPad App & theme Crashing. Instead of doing a re-install through Cydia of paid DreamBoard App, remove totally. Then go to Cydia/Sections/Scroll to Themes (DreamBo…)/’Boxor HD for iPad’/pay US $…?/install/respring. There seems to be a conflict with the previous paid DreamBoard App. Note. This method above will load DreamBoard App & 3 themes. Only the middle theme (Boxor HD for iPad) is compat. With iPad so far. All good with above method so far! Will post this to miApples Blog ASAP. Cheers! Pete.
