Several weeks after it was introduced, it seems that Google's new social networking effort, Google+ have gained quite a foothold in the world of social media. Just last week we have reported that Google+ have more than 10 million registered users already, a number which is far more impressive than it looks considering that it is still currently under beta. Several days after it was released, the Google+ iPhone app was submitted to the App Store for approval. After weeks of waiting for Apple's approval, it seems that the official app of Google+ is now officially available in the App Store.
Back in the day, Apple has made no qualms about rejecting products that the company thinks will be a threat to the key features of the iOS. A good example would be apps for Opera and Google Voice which was initially rejected by Apple.
There were some doubts whether Apple will approve the official Google+ app because while Apple doesn't have their own social networking website, Google's new social site does have some key features that are similar to those that are found in iOS. For instance, Google+'s messaging service +Huddle, is quite similar to Apple's upcoming iOS 5 messaging feature, iMessage. Another feature that can be cited is Google+'s group video chat service +Hangout which shares some similarities with the Apple's Facetime. But all of that is irrelevant now that the Google+ app is now approved.
Google+ for mobile makes sharing the right things with the right people a lot simpler. Huddle lets you send super-fast messages to the people you care about most. And no matter where you are, the stream lets you stay in the loop about what your friends are sharing and where they’re checking in.
The Google+ iPhone app works similarly to the desktop version with some limitations. Despite some limitations it seems that most of the core features are available to the iOS version. Such features include:
- +Circles: Just like its desktop counterpart, this Google+ feature lets you have the freedom to share which information you want with a certain group of people. Users can easily sort their "friends" into groups called Circles which are fully customizable.
- +Huddle: This is Google+'s instant messaging feature. This feature provide users a simple and intuitive way to send text messages towards a certain group or Circle. Pretty much like every modern group messaging nowadays.
- Stream: This feature is pretty much like Facebook's news feed where you can view your friend's activity in real time. Although with Google+, you can easily toggle which group's stream you would like to follow in real time.
But it seems that the Google+ app for iPad is nowhere in sight yet. Although an employee of Google did said that they were able to submit the app for the iPad.
