Callbar: No More Intrusive Incoming Call Screen From Your iPhone [Cydia Tweak]

One of the best reasons to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch is the because of the plethora of jailbreak tweaks that you can install. These tweaks are unofficial in nature but they could definitely rival or in some cases, a whole lot better than official apps in terms of creativity and functionality. While there are many jailbreak tweaks that are just plain useless, there are those that offers great functionality that serves as a reminder why you jailbreak your device in the first place. Be happy folks because we have a jailbreak tweak for you that's more in line with the latter.

Callbar Jailbreak Tweak
Introducing the jailbreak tweak called Callbar. Callbar is a tweak that adds an iOS 5 style notification to your screen whenever you receive an incoming call. To explain this tweak better:

Don’t let incoming phone or FaceTime calls interrupt what you’re doing on your device any longer. CallBar re-designs the incoming phone and video call interface to allow you to use your device while it’s ringing. Choose to answer, decline, or even dismiss the incoming call depending on your choice. Upon dismissal, the bar will shrink and cover the status bar – a safeguard just in case you choose to pick up the call after all or you accidentally dismissed. You can answer or decline the call from this dismiss view also. Dismissing the call silences the ring or vibrate, which is done by tapping the banner, hitting the Power button, or pressing the Volume buttons. To re-enable the ring or vibrate, simply tap the banner to bring the banner back up. All the above functionalities are available from the SpringBoard, within any application, and on the lockscreen. You could be texting, updating Twitter, surfing the web, or in the middle of using any application – CallBar allows you to continue what you are doing without interruption and gives you the option to handle the situation with ease.

Callbar Jailbreak Tweak 2
It is no secret that the current incoming call screen can be very intrusive especially if you are working with an application. This is one of those tweaks that makes so much sense that one has to wonder why Apple hasn't thought of adding this feature when it can significantly improve an iDevice owner's user-experience. With the iOS 5 approaching its official release, it is highly doubtful that we will ever see this functionality by the time the final version rolls in.
Callbar Jailbreak Tweak 3
Callbar perfectly mimics the new notification style bar that's found in the iOS 5. This tweak supports both native incoming phone calls and Facetime. Callbar can easily be toggled on or off, although once you have tried this tweak, you will not ever have a reason to turn it off. Callbar supports all iOS devices as long as it runs iOS 4.0 and above (yes it even supports iOS 5 beta).

The only drawback that I could see from this jailbreak tweak is its price. Callbar will cost you $3.99. If you are a regular Cydia app shopper, then you know that the price is a little too steep for something as simple as this. But if you don't mind the price, then this you'll definitely find this tweak to be very useful. Here's cool video demo from the folks of Today's iPhone:

As usual, before you can install this tweak, you will need to jailbreak your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch to iOS 4.0+. CallBar is available in Cydia through the BigBoss repository for $3.99.
