When Steve Jobs unveiled the evolutionary iOS 5 at WWDC last week, little did he know that it would be jailbroken within hours of its release. Now, after 4 days of its debut, Cydia gets its first ever tweak for the iOS 5 - UISettings. Developed by qwertyoruiop, UISettings is the first third-party notifications center widget made available to those currently jailbroken on the iOS5b1.
What makes this tweak special is its direct integration into the iOS 5's notification center unlike SBSettings which had a separate pull down screen to access it. This release comes as an update to the UISettings tweak released just last week by qwertyoruiop himself which used the multitasking pane integration of UISettings for iOS 4.
UISettings is very similar to SBSettings in terms of functionality. Both these tweaks are compatible on the iOS 5 as well and achieves the same functions. But, UISettings is much easier to get to since you know its where all your notifications are stored on the iOS 5. Once installed, UISettings gets right to work. Positioned seamlessly below the weather widget, an extra widget is added to the notification center. Easy access to settings such as toggling ON/OFF Wi-Fi, Airplane Mode, Bluetooth, adjusting the Brightness, Respring and more is achieved by a single tap on the respective icons.
For example, tapping the Brightness icon will fade the backdrop whilst the user is provided with a Slide bar where he/she can adjust the same just like how it would be accessed via the Settings.app, minus the extra taps just to get there.
