New Gevey Ultra SIM: Untethered Unlock For The iPhone 4 Without Dialing 112

Applenberry, the manufacturer that is responsible for Gevey SIM, a SIM that allows you to unlock any iPhone 4, has now released another product named Gevey Ultra. Gevey Ultra is a custom SIM card that is supposed to be the ultimate unlock solution for the iPhone 4. You will be able to unlock your device regardless of the firmware (it even supports iOS 5), running on basebands: 2.10.04, 3.10.01, 4.10.01 and 1.59.00.
Gevey Ultra
Although unlike previous Gevey offerings, your iPhone needs to be jailbroken so you can unlock it using Gevey Ultra. The good news is, Gevey Ultra appears to be an untethered unlock. With previous Gevey SIMs, you will have to repeat the process of unlocking whenever your iPhone runs out of battery or rebooted. With Gevey Ultra, once you have unlocked your iPhone 4, it will stay in its unlocked state even if the device is drained of its battery or it reboots.

This version of the Gevey SIM has made the process of unlocking even more streamlined. All you need to do is to set it up after inserting the SIM and unlike previous Gevey SIM cards, you do not have to dial 112 in order to activate the hack. The whole process takes about 5-10 minutes. Here's a video that demonstrates this unlock solution in action:

What You Will Need:

  1. An iPhone 4 that's jailbroken to iOS 4 (any released version works) and even iOS 5 beta 1.
  2. The New Gevey Ultra SIM

How To Setup:

  1. First you must remove your SIM card. You will need to cut your SIM so that it will fit into the tray that comes with Gevey Ultra.
  2. Go to Cydia and add this repo: http://cydia.furiousMod.com. Then locate FuriousMod and proceed to install. You will see a "no SIM card installed" error but that's normal. Turn off your iPhone.
  3. Now put the Gevey SIM on the tray with your own SIM card on top. Make sure that both cards are on top and firmly in place before you insert it back into your iPhone.
  4. Turn your iPhone back on and wait until you can see that a signal is detected. You will see errors while phone boots up but just ignore it. Don't interact with your device until it picks up the signal.
  5. To enable 3G, navigate to Settings > General > Network and configure "Data Roaming".

And that's it! You are done.

The new Gevey Ultra SIM is now available over at ApplenBerry's website for only $39.99. It's a great price when other unlock services can cost you up to $180. And of course you also have the option of buying an official factory unlocked iPhone 4 from Apple for $649.

Keep in mind that before you attempt to unlock your iPhone using this method, you will require at least some basic knowledge when it comes to modifying an iPhone or else you could damage your device  permanently.

Have you entered in the data settings of your carrier under the APN section?

We got ours working, apparently we just had to wait it out. After a few days it started working when I every now and then switched airplane mode on and off.
However: We are using a Swedish SIM card in Sweden and if you enable roaming it works just fine here. Push notifications are not working as they should.
Also using the phone abroad does not seem to work at all. When we were in Holland for a Weekend the iPhone would not get a carrier signal for 4 days :/

Yep, that’s right. The Gevey doesn’t work when your abroad & still try to use your home network SIM. Gevey assumes that your in the home country of your SIM & not anywhere else in the world.

    Hi,

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.1 and baseband 03.10.01

I received my Gevey Ultra today and i installed Furious Mod v.1.1.0 and when i start my iPhone instead of displaying the message of Furious Mod it display the message of Gevey telling me to call 112 for it to work.

And it keeps only one bar on the signal strength and only allows to call 112(emergency number)

So, why isn’t furious mod doing what he is supposed to do?

    Cheers

Did you try a couple of reboots as well? Is it happening all the time? The updated FuriousMod does have weird issues though.

For all those getting an error while installing FuriousMod. They should jailbreak with Redsnow instead of Jailbreakme.com assuming that could be an issue for PC users. A fresh install of any jailbreak may as well do the trick. 1.02 also covers mobile substrate so no issues there.

    Yes I did.
However I gave up and the battery ran out on the iPhone. It started up again with the Gevey chip and SIM in place. It started up and said no SIM available, I put it in flight mode since I noticed the battery was draining faster than normal otherwise (possibly from unsuccessfully trying to acquire a signal?).
After a couple of minutes I just thought I’d give it one more try before giving up. Sure as hell the thing works and it get’s a proper signal. I can’t think of what was missing before. I had tried rebooting and airplane mode but hey.. Perhaps fiddling too much within too much time with the SIM and Unlock etc. mad it sad :)
Now it’s working though. thanks Ganesh (and Pramod)!

I have the exact same issue. Since the upgrade to 1.1.0 the Unlock is no longer working. I have tried restarting the iPhone, reinstalling the furious mod. Turning on and off airplane mode.. no success..
    Any tips?
    Thank you

Have you followed what the previous reader had followed to get his Ultra working? (Turning ON & OFF the airplane mode once every reboot)

  •

i did repeat the above things a couple of times but didnt got it until i turned on and turned off the airplane mode…now its working fine

    but for every reboot
i need to turn off and turn on airplane mode once to get the signal

guess its a bug in the latest upgrade of furiousmod

You’ll need to redo the whole process by removing your SIM out and inserting it back again just like how you did it the first time.

Also people are saying the iOS 5.0 beta 2 has fixed the exploit therefore this won’t work anymore…

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Yes, that’s absolutely true. You will not be able to use the Gevey anymore once updated to iOS 5.
