It's been a while since we've been getting rumors about hardware but earlier we just reported that the rumored iPhone 5 will be released on September 7 and will most likely feature minor upgrades over the existing iPhone 4. So how about another dose of next generation iPhone rumor? Apparently, a new rumor from Boy Genius Report popped up and claims that, as opposed to the rumors that it will feature a slight upgrade and similar form-factor, the iPhone 5 will be in fact a major overhaul of the iPhone 4. And that includes the design itself.
According to speculations, the iPhone 5 (or 4S) will feature quite a radical departure from iPhone 4's form factor. For one, it will be slimmer and takes a "teardrop" design approach and will feature an aluminum back. Similar to the mock-up design by ThisIsMyNext above. The rumors also indicates that instead of minor upgrades such as better camera and faster CPU, the technical specifications will have a major overhaul as well.
BGR has independently confirmed that the next-generation iPhone will not merely be an upgraded iPhone 4 as had been previously rumored. We have been told by a reliable source to expect a radical new case design for the upcoming iPhone, though we have not been given any additional details surrounding the design of the new iPhone case.
According to Boy Genius Report's sources, Apple will announce the next iPhone in August which is a month earlier from the September reports that we've been getting lately. The announcement will be made in mid August during a standalone event that Apple will organize and not during the music event that will take place in September.
What about a release, then? The consensus is that Apple is going to announce the next-generation iPhone at the company’s annual September event, traditionally focused on iPods, but we have heard it’s quite possible Apple will break tradition. According to our source, Apple may hold an event in the beginning or middle of August to announce the new iPhone, with availability to follow in the last week of August.
Well this is definitely shaping up to be interesting. Will Apple really break tradition and hold an event in August just to announce or launch the next iPhone? Or will it be announced during the September music event which is supposedly dedicate to announcing new iPods? At this point, Apple has already broken the tradition of announcing their next iPhone during the WWDC, so anything can happen now.
The iPhone 5 or iPhone 4S is supposed to be announced this coming fall and is rumored to come preloaded with iOS 5, which actually makes sense. Well the fact that we've been getting a lot of buzz about the next iPhone is a clear indication that it could just be around the corner. So we expect to be bombarded with more news (or rumors) with regards to the pending launch of Apple's next major hardware release.
We will surely keep our eyes peeled on this one. So stay tune with us for updates.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
