It has been a while since we have heard some buzz about the next generation iPhone. Maybe it's because Apple fans are actually preoccupied with playing around with the iOS 5 and its plethora of new features? Yes, no rumors and speculations about Apple's next major hardware release, the iPhone 5. But all of that are bound to change as someone over the weekend released some pretty juicy rumors about the release date of Apple's next handheld.
According to International Business Times, the iPhone 5 is set for release on September 7 this year. Yes that means fans have a little over two months of wait before they can get their hands on the highly anticipated iPhone 5. This next generation iPhone is said to be pre-loaded with iOS 5. That's a pretty crazy rumor right?
At first, this rumor seems to be too far-fetched and ridiculous. Well for one, WWDC 2011 took place earlier this month. If there is ever a perfect time to announce the existence of the iPhone 5, it would be during the WWDC where all eyes are on the Cupertino giant, well that is granted that they are indeed planning to release it on September.
What happened is, Apple focused on showcasing its software lineup mainly the next version of its mobile operating system, the iOS 5, its cloud based storage service, the iCloud and finally the next major release of the Mac OS X, the Mac OS X Lion. No, not even a hint or reference to the iPhone 5 was given. Unlike when the iPhone 4 was unveiled during the WWDC 2010. Fans assumed that the absence of the iPhone 5 was because Apple just launched the white iPhone 4.
Speculators claims that this is Apple's way of breaking tradition. Fans will surely feel dejected by the fact that Apple didn't announce iPhone 5 at the WWDC, but speculators have said that Apple has bigger problems than that. Apple is said to be losing some ground due to great number of Android devices that are going to be released this summer.
Rumors also indicates that Apple will postpone the launch for the refreshed iPods in the iPod event in September and instead will have the iPhone as the frontrunner. According to International Business Times:
Now, tech circles muse that the Cupertino-giant will put off the launch of the refreshed iPod in September to allow for the iPhone 5 launch. Apple has already said the iOS 5 will hit the market in July, so it is believed that the next generation iPhones will come pre-loaded with the latest operating system, which has been enriched by at least 200 new features.
iPhone adherents will seethe with anger if their phone doesn’t tally up to the competitions' range of Android OS-based phones as early as possible. Apple must have found it difficult to contend with the allegation that most of the rumored iPhone 5 features are already on Android OS-based devices. So why not at least give a chance to iPhone enthusiasts to get on an even keel with the Android phones by moving to the upgraded iPhone 5?
We did brought a report to you last week that the iPhone 5 is already on its final testing phase. So maybe this particular rumor could use the benefit of a doubt. If that is the case, then Apple did a great job of keeping a tight wrap around its next major smartphone. This is certainly the kind of rumor that can certainly go either way but we can only guess at this point. Will the iPhone 5 be available in September 7?
