According to the Japanese blog Macotakara, the next generation variant of the iPhone 4, the iPhone 4S will debut with an ARM Cortex-A9 CPU and an 8 MP camera which pretty much backs up past claims regarding the device.
It is worth noting that the ARM Cortex-A9 is the foundation for Apple's custom made A5 processor which is currently utilized by the iPad 2. The iPad 2's A5 is a dual core CPU, but it is still isn't clear if the processor for the iPhone 4S will be dual core as well.
There have been speculations that gaming speed and performance is one of the major marketing points of the next iPhone. In fact, Apple has already selected several well-known developers to work on their applications in order to tap the full potential of the next iPhone's superior hardware. So it is highly likely that the iPhone 4S's will have dual core processor as well.
The Japanese blog also reported that the iPhone 4S will be released with dual mode support which means both CDMA and GSM networks are allowed. This comes as a no surprise since it was found out that the Verizon iPhone 4 carries a Qualcomm chipset. Another interesting bit according to the report is that the iPhone 4S will have an integrated SIM card feature. This feature foregoes the need for a physical sim card but instead the user will activate his phone through the service carrier.
Another rumor that was indicated in the report, although the details were rather scarce, is that the iPhone 5 is expected to be released in spring of 2012.Contact Us for News Tips, Corrections and Feedback
