How to Install Installous 4.4.2 on iOS 5 to Get Cracked Apps on iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad

After you have jailbroken your iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G and 1st-Gen iPad to iOS 5, you can now install Installous to your device so you can run cracked apps on your device. Yes, there is no known update to Installous for iOS 5 yet, but I'm pleased to tell you that Installous works great on my jailbroken iDevice on iOS 5.0b1. Just follow the steps provided below:

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Hackulous is now officially gone, so you won't be able to download Installous and AppSync from the repository anymore. As an alternative to Installous, you can download these Installous alternatives.

Download Installous

Steps to Install Installous 4.4.2 on iOS 5.0b1 Through Hackulous Repo:

  1. First of course you will need to jailbreak your device on iOS 5 Beta 1. If you haven't yet, just follow this guide to jailbreak your device using Redsn0w. Once you're done, open Cydia from your jailbroken device.
  2. Installous-iOS-5-Cydia

  3. Tap the Manage tab below, and on the next screen tap Sources. Now if you have already added the Hackulo.us repo, skip to step 4, if not proceed to the next step.
  4. Cydia-Manage-iOS-5

  5. Tap Edit on the top right corner and then tap Add on the top left corner of Cydia. You will be asked for the Cydia/APT URL on which you enter http://cydia.hackulo.us, then tap the Add Source button.
  6. Cydia-Hackulous-Repo-iOS-5

  7. Now Cydia will update its repo list. Once that is done, search Installous by tapping the Search tab below and entering "Installous" in the search field without the quotes.
  8. Search-Installous-iOS-5

  9. Once the search results are in, select Installous and tap Install on the top right of the screen.
  10. Installous-4.4.2-for-iOS-5

  11. Now if you do not have access to Wi-Fi, you can still install Installous offline. What you need to do is download Installous 4.4.2 DEB file from here, AppSync for 4.0+ (1.1-5) DEB from here and along with other essential DEBs here. If you have iPhone Explorer, just navigate to the following location and place the DEB files in the Auto Install directory.
  12. Location: /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

    Install-Installous-DEB-File-iOS-5

  13. After placing the files, you must reboot your device. To install cracked apps without Wi-Fi access, download the cracked IPAs through AppTracker and place them at the following directory:
  14. Location: /var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads

    Install-IPA-Files-without-SSH-or-Wifi-iOS-5
Now through your iDevice, open Installous and tap the Downloads tab, tap the app that you've just downloaded and select Install.

      Hi,

Are you updating from iOS 4.x? If yes, then you will need to restore to iOS 5, thus losing your jailbreak and Installous. Just jailbreak and install it again once you have updated to iOS 5.

You need to boot tethered each time to shut down / reboot your device. Its still a tethered JB.

Nope. iOS 5 is a tethered JB, so you need to boot it tethered each time your reboot / shut down your device.

Its called a tethered JB for a reason. So until an untethered JB is out for the iOS 5, this is going to continue.

I had Installous 4 installed on my Jailbroken iPhone 4 iOS 5 until earlier today… it worked perfectly until I decided to uprgrade AppSync to its latest 5+ version. After you do, Installous will unistall automatically and you would not be able to install it again, even if you unistall Appsync’s latest version and install the previous one. I recommend that if you have Installous 4, keep it and don’t upgrade your AppSync, for there is no reliable use to the upgrade. I’ll just have to wait now for them to upgrade Installous. -___-

No, it will not work anymore on any of the iOS 5 beta/final versions unless Hackulo.us updates it for iOS 5.0+.

I successfully installed the ios 5 beta 4 and successfully jailbroke my ipod 4g and even got cydia running. I went to download installous and after I did everything it told me “http://cydia.hackulo.us” and finally installed installous… my problem is that the installous icon is not showing up on the springboard. Please help.

It doesn’t seem to work anymore on the latest beta versions. Wait for an update from the Hackulo.us team.

Well, your having a tethered JB on iOS 5b1/2/3/4. Meaning, everytime you reboot your iPhone, you will need the help of your PC to boot it back up. Else, you will be stuck at the recovery loop. All you need to do is run Redsn0w once again with the Just Boot Tethered Now option ticked. That should get you back.

Does not work. Installous does not appear on the Springboard. Reboot –> Restore; Respring –> Restore.
