m8 thanks for the replay but i dont have Device Instance Path on my pc !!! windows xp sp2

    •
      Patrick2 years, 9 months ago

      Hey,

Unfortunately XP doesn’t have the “Device Instance Path”. You can try this instead:

      Download USBView: http://bit.ly/6pD4G5
      Launch USBView
Locate “Apple recovery (DFU) USB driver”
      Click Options
      Select “Config Descriptors”
      Click File > Refresh
Your Bootrom version is under the “SerialNumber” field.

      Hope that helps.

ty i am already on 4.3.3 !! now i have a new question !! does my iphone 3gs has old boot rom or new ??? my serial number is **937****** is it old bootrom i guess it is !! ???

    •
      Patrick2 years, 9 months ago

      Hi,

To accurately check for your bootroom:

Put your iPhone in DFU Mode
iTunes will detect your device to be in recovery mode
      Go to: Start->Control Panel->Device Manager
In Universal Serial BUS Controller, you will find Apple Mobile Device USB Driver
Right Click and go to Properties > Details tab and select “Device Instance Path” from the drop down list box.
You should be able to find your bootroom under Value
If it’s 359.3, iPhone 3GS has old bootrom. If it’s 359.3.2 or above, then it is a new bootrom.

      Hope that helps!

    Hi,

Did you try to properly put your device into DFU Mode? Try using iReb to put your iPhone in Pwned DFU mode. Then restore to iOS 4.3.3 and redo the whole process using latest version of iTunes. For more information about iREB: http://bit.ly/k1x9zb

i dont have the shsh blobs for 5.0 !! is 5.0 better or 5.0.1 ??

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

You need not have one. Point your device to a Sn0wbreeze’d iOS 5.0 IPSW via iTunes in a DFU mode. That should help. You don’t need an SHSH if you have the old-bootrom iP3GS. Currently, Ultrasn0w is compatible only with iOS 5.0.

Hey Pramod I have 3gs old bootrom alright can i have untethered jailbreak for ios 5.0.1 ??? i have seen written below Sn0wbreeze 2.8b11 (This is a tethered jailbreak via iBooty except the old bootrom 3gs users !) does this mean i can jailbreak untethered ios 5.0.1 ???

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

Yes, that’s correct. You can even stay untethered on iOS 5.0 as well if you want to even if Apple isn’t signing it anymore.

    •

Its probably a hardware failure. You might want to get your device checked at the nearest Apple Store.

    •

Drop the idea of iSHSHit & instead use TU / iFaith / redsn0w to save them from your device. They are much more reliable.

i followed the right steps to jailbreak my ipod touch 4g at the end when i got to shift restore and put in snowbreeze_ipod touch 4-4.3.3.ispw it gives me error 3194 help

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

You need to have its SHSH saved already for your device on Cydia / TU prior to performing the restore. Read this http://bit.ly/oKCpYX.

  •
Nawazish Ali2 years, 9 months ago

hey pramod does the saved shsh blobs go away i mean get removed when we update our phone to the next ios ??? how do you make shsh blobs ?? i have shshit on my iphone but it gives me the error that cannot send shsh until an account has been send and there is no place where i can set up the account help me please!!

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

Never. Cydia caches your saved SHSH (if any) forever. It always saves it for the latest iOS version that’s currently available for your device via iTunes. I believe iSHSHit should be able to save them onto Cydia’s space as well if you had ticked the Via Cydia option. If not, then it was probably only saved onto your device’s memory which obviously will get erased after a fresh restore. Essentially, you should be able to view your saved SHSH like this http://bit.ly/qS5bjW on Cydia unless you have saved them physically via TU onto your PC. You can send the saved SHSH to your email ID by tapping the Save option.

    Jason2 years, 9 months ago

@Pramod, you are exactly correct. After my phone locks the screen (automatically after 2 min), then it is black again. But this time, nothing else works, redsnow, snowbreeze and itune can’t detect it. What can I do at this point? Is it totally gone now?

    Thanks
    Jason

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

There’s nothing that can be done about it as long as you restore your device to an iOS for which you have a valid SHSH. Read this http://bit.ly/oKCpYX to understand the situation much better.

  •
    Jason2 years, 9 months ago

Thanks. I used redsnow to boot my device tethered and unlocked using ultrasnow. So it looks like my phone can only be jb tethered with ios 4.3.3 because the shsh blob is no longer available in cydia or neither did I have a save (my previous ios was 3.1.4). Is my assuming correct? or there is a way to make my phone untethered. Thanks in advance for your help.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

Nope, w/o an SHSH it isn’t possible to keep your device untethered. Also, this kind of JB will only exist until your device powers OFF / locks out. After that, you will find yourselves in a DFU loop mode again w/o having the ability to boot back up.

    Jason2 years, 9 months ago

Thanks, do you have a link to it? Thanks

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

Use this same guide as far as procedure & restoration is concerned. Download Sn0wbreeze for iOS 5.0.1 from http://www.ih8sn0w.com & the corresponding iOS 5.0.1 IPSW from here .

  •
    Jason2 years, 9 months ago

@Pramod, thanks for your quick reply. I went thru your link, and it really did not have my SHSH saved anywhere. Since my phone is in black screen now (DFU mode), I tired the 3rd option with the etc/hosts file, still no luck when I launch itune to restore the custom 4.3.3 again (rebooted my pc already).

What are my options now? It is only I can upgrade my phone to 4.3.5 via itune (no shift + restore), will that also upgrade my baseband which means I can only use AT&T now?

    Thanks
    Jason

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

Your only available option is to update to iOS 5.0.1. Create a custom iOS 5.0.1 IPSW & then restore to it which will also preserve your BB. Use Sn0wbreeze v2.8b11.

    Jason2 years, 9 months ago

    Help please!!

I followed this guide to use Snowbreeze 2.7.3 to jb my iphone 3gs with bb 5.11.07 and ios 3.1.2. The iphone 3gs was already jb and unlock but it is tethered.

During the build custom ipsw step, I selected the following options – old bootrom, unchecked hacktivate and uncheck the 6.15.00 bb.

Everything went well and it said it was restored successfully in ituen, BUT the device never came back on again. I pressed the power button, nothing happen. I unplug and plug it back to usb, and open up itune, then it said the iphone software update server could not be contacted. And no iphone icon show up on the left panel. If I tried to run snowbreeze again, tried to put it in DFU mode, it said unknown device.

Did i just brick my 3gs? I hope not, any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Jason

Update: I also tried using tinyunbrella to kick my iphone out of the recovery mode. Again, everything went well, no error, after everything is done. My phone is still in black screen, nothing happen when i press the power button.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 9 months ago

This issue is merely because you did not have / use a valid SHSH to restore your device with. A valid SHSH is necessary if you need to restore your device to a much earlier build than the current iOS that is being pushed out by Apple. Read this http://bit.ly/oKCpYX to understand the situation in a much better manner.

First off, do you have the necessary SHSH for iOS 4.3.3 saved for your device on Cydia / TU ? Like this http://bit.ly/qS5bjW perhaps?

  •
    Prian2 years, 11 months ago

    Thanks, Pramod

Got it to 4.3.5. Will try getting an AT&T sim to activate and use this until some software unlock is released for iOS5

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

You can use a Gevey SIM currently to unlock your device if you wish to. You would need to jailbreak iOS 4.3.5 to get it across the Emergency Call Screen.

  •
    Prian2 years, 11 months ago

Hi Pramod, I had bought a used AT&T iPhone 4 in bombay along with the Gevey Turbo SIM. I confirmed that it worked with Vodafone, India. After removing the owner’s sim, we erased all content & settings, post which the phone shows me a screen urging me to connect to iTunes (along with a message asking for a SIM to be inserted and an emergency dial screen). This does not change even if I insert my Vodafone microSIM along with the Gevey Turbo SIM. The Gevey unlock procedure could not be initialized at all since there was no way to reach settings to enable Airplane Mode. Even when connected to iTunes, iTunes does not allow me to do any kind of restore/restore from backup and instead shows a screen asking for a SIM to be inserted. The only other option was to eject the iPhone

Following advice from other people to JB the phone (iPhone 4 4.3.3 & 04.10.01)

I tried JBing the phone using snowbreeze.

    The files used were:
    1) Sn0wbreeze 2.7.3
    2) iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.ipsw (Mine is a GSM iPhone)
    3) iTunes 10.4.1 and
    4) TinyUmbrella 5.0

    The IPSW was verified successfully
In Expert Mode, i chose ‘Hactivate’ and ‘Enable Animated Boot Logo Capability’.
A custom IPSW file was created on my desktop
I followed the directions to get my phone into DFU mode
SnowBreeze detected DFU mode and started iREB and then displayed instructions to restore using iTunes
I tried ‘Shift + Restore’ and got error 3194

After searching about the error, i started tinyUmbrella and unchecked ‘Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit’ option and started the TSS server after turning off IIS in my computer
This time, iTunes restored the custom firmware, I could see a partial snowflake with a progress bar on the iPhone, then iTunes verified with Apple servers and right at the end, i got error 37

After searching a bit about the error, i tried to re-do the process from scratch but without choosing ‘Enable Animated Boot Logo Capability’ in Snowbreeze. After creating the custom firmware, i verified that my phone was already in DFU mode (no change since the first entry to DFU mode). When i tried ‘Shift + Restore’, i got error 1600

After searching a bit about the error, I found that a solution would be to use iREB and put the device in pawned DFU state prior to restoration. But, this step has already been done in the snowbreeze JB procedure. Anyways, I start iREB and since the phone is already in pawned DFU mode, the popup comes out almost instantaneously asking me to do a ‘Shift + Restore” on iTunes. Now, iTunes again goes through the process, my phone has the snowflake and a progress bar on its screen, on its screen, only this time, ‘Verifying iPhone restore’ takes a while, then, finally, iTunes displays that ‘your iPhone has been restored to factory settings and is being restarted and that this message will be dismissed in 5 seconds’
And then again, iTunes says that it detects an iPhone in recovery mode. Back to square 1.

How do i get out of this DFU mode. Thanks a lot for your patience.

P.S. – Have I screwed the firmware version to 4.3.5 by doing this. And obviously without any saved ShSh blobs since this was my first JB attempt

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Yes, you very well have & also lost an untethered JB option. You shouldn’t have actually restored your device w/o confirming first for any saved SHSH for the same on Cydia / TU. All you can do right now is to update to 4.3.5 from iTunes. Make sure that you Shift+Restore to the same & also set your TU settings like this http://bit.ly/mT3R3e first & then quit it. This will work as long as Apple is still signing iOS 4.3.5. After that, you will be stuck on iOS 5. Pray to god that it doesn’t error you out at 3194 again !!

  •
    Ysa2 years, 11 months ago

tinyumbrella wont detect my device if i put my device on pwned DFU mode.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Why do you want to use TU with a Snowbreeze restore?
Do you have the necessary SHSH saved for your device / iOS for it?

  •
    Ysa2 years, 11 months ago

tried it already, another error occurred Unknown error (21)

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

You need to put your device into a pwned DFU mode. You haven’t done so. This is a necessary step.

  •

tried jailbreaking via snowbreeze v 2.2 but an unknown error occurred (3194). can you tell me what happened?

  •
    k49552 years, 11 months ago

I started the process of jailbreaking again, but only used Simple Mode instead of expert. Lots of frustrating error messages popped up after DFU mode, especially 1601. Got the phone out of DFU mode and somehow Cydia icon came back. I have no idea what caused? Thank you for your persistent help.

  •
    Ysa2 years, 11 months ago

    yes.. SHSH: iOS 3.1.3, 4.0, 4.0.1, 4.0.2, 4.1, 4.2.1+ & 4.3.5

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Well, that means the latest that you can update to is iOS 4.2.1 keeping the untethered JB option in mind. Create a custom 4.2.1 IPSW using Sn0wbreeze v2.2 http://bit.ly/puOynD & restore to that. Make sure that you also set your hosts file to point iTunes to the Cydia’s server.

sorry but what do you mean by SHSH? it’s IOS 3.1.3, BB 05.12.01

I want to update my phone to IOS 4.3.3 & unlock it.

    Pls. help me. Thanks.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Fire up Cydia first & have a look here http://bit.ly/qS5bjW. Except iOS 4.3.4 & above, if you see any other iOS versions, you can very well restore to them & unlock it as well at the same time.

Can I update my iphone 3gs to IOS 4.3.3? carrier is with AT&T, I want to use another carrier, is there any way I can unlock it? Thanks.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Only if your having the necessary SHSH saved for your device via Cydia / TU will you be able to update your device to that particular iOS version.
Also, what iOS & BB version are you currently on?

I restored to apple software. everything is working fine. I ll have to wait for a jail break to come out for 4.3.5.
Thank you! this is the most extensive resource I found on jail braking on the web!

  •

I am even not able to boot it tethered with Redsn0w following the http://bit.ly/oKCpYX post.

What options are still there? Restore using the apple firmware no jailbreaking for me?

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

      Pretty much yeah. :(
i.e if you don’t have any SHSH saved for your device / iOS.

I used Sn0wbreez to create a custom firmware for an I-phone 4 4.2.1. I had the 1600; 1602 and the 3194 errors that I avoided using tiny umbrella and i-Reb. The restore completed successfully however I am not able to restart the phone. I used i-Reb Redsn0w recboot and tiny umbrella to boot it but it comes back to DFU mode.

Please, help I cannot start the phone?

Note: I made a backup of the I-phone before hand. but, I did not save any SHSH.
    Software versions used
    redsn0w_win_0.9.9b3a
    iREB-r4
    sn0wbreeze-v2.2.1
    and the Latest tiny umbrella

Just tried tinyumbrella-5.00.12 and fixrecovery421 from the same website. No Success.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

You do not have the necessary SHSH saved for your device / iOS to perform the restore. You absolutely cannot restore your device if you don’t have the necessary SHSH saved for the same. Read this closely http://bit.ly/oKCpYX.

  •
    uzman2 years, 11 months ago

    thank you.
btw isnt it possible to create an SHSH blob using pwnage tool?

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

No, SHSH is not something that can be created. Its something that’s generated by your device uniquely in combination with the iOS version that your currently running which is signed by Apple. Since you aren’t running the necessary iOS, its not in anyway possible to capture it in your case anymore.

  •
    uzman2 years, 11 months ago

    i’m sorry. it says “SHSH 4.1, 4.3.5″
Is it possible to update to iOS 4.3.5 while preserving baseband, unlock via ultrasn0w and jailbreak it?

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

No. iOS 4.3.5 is still a tethered JB atleast for now. Also, you cannot update to iOS 4.3.3 either. So its best to stay put on iOS 4.1 itself.

  •

thanks alot. but what do i do now to update it? should i create the SHSH blob for the current firmware and sign it using ifaith, and then use this sn0wbreeze tutorial to update it?
btw i really appreciate you helping me.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

You cannot CREATE an SHSH for your device. That’s what I’m trying to emphasize here. If you have Cydia, fire it up & have a look here http://bit.ly/qS5bjW. If you see a 4.3.3 SHSH, only then can you update to it.

  •
    uzman2 years, 11 months ago

No, i’m not trying to downgrade it. I’m trying to update it from 4.1 to 4.3.3.
My phone is fine although the apple said “cannot restore. error 3194″ its still on 4.1 jailbroken and unlocked and works fine.
I used that link to create a some file on my desktop with the name xxxx.ifaith
can you please give me instructions on how i can update it while preserving the ipad baseband?

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Restore/downgrade/update is all the same & you would still them for your device / iOS restores. Also, only if you were actually running 4.3.3 on your device, only then will iFaith be of any use to save those SHSH. Its not possible to save one w/o actually having it on your device in case of iFaith & also that iFaith file should be for your device only.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

You can upgrade upto 4.3.3. But make sure that you restore using a custom IPSW ONLY i.e if you still want to preserve your unlock. Create one using Sn0wbreeze & restore to it. You do not need TU for this at all. But make sure that you have set your hosts files to point it to Cydia by opening up TU, setting it to these settings http://bit.ly/qqFuve & then closing it for your restores to go through.

I have jailbroken using snowbreeze 2.7, my IPhone 4.2.8. I have programs like installous, winterboard and PDANet which are available only after a jailbreak. These programs do work. However Cydia icon is missing. I have posted in several forums like XDAdevelopers and PPCWarez seeking help. The moderators did suggest to reinstall Cydia. If I look at my IPhone using ISpirit, I can see folders like Cydia App download and Cydia App Install. Also under applications I see Cydia.app. But that is about it. If I try in ISpirit “Repair Icons” a message to install OpenSSH comes up. But how to access without Cydia. I am not intending to do a complete jailbreak. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks

Not yet. But in case you have an SHSH saved for iOS 4.3.3 you can update to that right now w/o any issues. Open up Cydia & find your SHSH for 4.3.3 here http://bit.ly/qS5bjW. If not, its best to stay put on 4.1.

    •

Your restore / upgrade to any version of the iOS depends on the SHSH blobs that you / Cydia may have saved for your device / iOS. Fire up Cydia & look for the list of iOS versions here http://bit.ly/qS5bjW. Yes, we do need to run private servers for authentication which in this case is Cydia. Reply back with your findings.

Thanks a lot man! I updated the baseband and now my phones unlocked!

Now, can you help me do it with my iPhone 4? There’s no option to update the baseband on redsn0w when I tried doing it with my iPhone 4.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Only a Gevey SIM can unlock your / any iP4 if your on a BB version higher than 01.59.00. Ultrasn0w can ONLY unlock the 01.59.00 BB & the others can be unlocked ONLY via a Gevey SIM.

  •
    Roalf2 years, 11 months ago

Yeah I figured that out after I typed my message LOL. Anyway, I’m trying to upgrade the Baseband now with redsn0w RC18. I’ll see if it will update it and not be stuck on 5.16.02 again like it did when I was using redsn0w RC16.

  •
    Roalf2 years, 11 months ago

Thanks I’ll try a fresh jailbreak/unlock using RC18 for 4.3.3. It might work. If not, I’ll keep the 4.1 and try upgrading the baseband instead.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

You cannot ever restore to iOS 4.3.3 w/o a valid SHSH saved for it. You will only get stuck in a DFU loop because of it. No point in trying it out a 4.3.3 restore.

  •
    Roalf2 years, 11 months ago

    Here’s my complicated case:

I have an iPhone 3Gs (new version) with 4.3.5 Locked. Now it’s on AT&T and I’m from the Philippines so I wanted it unlocked. But I found out that there only a tethered way to jailbreak/unlock a 4.3.5 so I decided to downgrade to 4.3.3.

So I made a custom IPSW with sn0wbreeze for 4.3.3 but when I tried to restore it, I got an error 3194. Then I tried using tinyumbrella to fix this but when I search for my available SHSH, apparently there’s no 4.3.3 on the list. There’s a 4.3.5, some 5.0.x’s and a 4.1.

So I thought since I can’t use 4.3.3, I’d better get a 4.1. So I did. I made a new custom IPSW with sn0wbreeze for 4.1 and restored it on my phone which went OK. But when I tried unlocking it with ultrasn0w, it wouldn’t work. It just keeps on searching or displaying ‘No Service’.

But I was persistent. I tried searching the web once more I came up with a post that says my Baseband which is 5.16.02 isn’t supported and thus must upgrade to 6.x.x or something. Again, I tried doing that with redsn0w. I launched the program and unchecked ‘Install Cydia’ since it’s already on my device and JUST checked the Update Baseband box. It went very well, it did what is should do and downloaded the baseband and did the ramdisk thing and everything. I clicked ‘Finish’ and waited while everything is being processed on my iPhone. It went pretty good indeed (OR SO I THOUGHT).

When everything is finished, it loaded the device and is now back on the Springboard still with my Apps and settings intact. But when I checked my Baseband if it was upgraded, it was still in 5.16.02!

Now, I’m officially stumped. I need help.

I would really appreciate your help.

    Hai,
I have an iphone 4, it was ios 4.0.2 and I successfully upgraded to ios 4.3.3 following the guide above, and there was no error showed (and successfully restore it using iTunes, and all apps are back in there again).
However I couldn’t get connected to network service provider, any longer. It’s always “no service” connection.
    What should I do?

    Thank you

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Not for Sn0wbreeze. You might want to redo the steps & time them properly to put your device into a DFU mode. There’s nothing that can block your device from going into one so no worries.

    •
      Pramod2 years, 11 months ago

Its better to stay put on iOS 4.3.5 & wait for the iOS to come out. Once its out, you will be able to restore to that & unlock as well with ease. Currently, you cannot do anything about it w/o the availability of SHSH. Updating to iOS 4.3.5 is your ONLY way out as of now. If you still want to get unlocked, you must know that iOS 4.3.5 is still a tethered JB (Google it). Are you sure you want to stay like that? Its possible though. Also, make sure that your aware of the risks of updating your BB to an iPad’s BB for the unlock. (Google it as well)

In this guide on step number 13, it says that “If you rely on an UNLOCKED iPhone, you can use Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 to unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.3.3. Just follow step-by-step guide here to unlock your iPhone 4/3GS on iOS 4.3.3 using Ultrasn0w 1.2.3. Once unlocked, you can follow this guide to activate your iPhone on iOS 4.3.3 officially using SAM.”

I think that you meant “If uouy rely on an LOCKED iPhone, you can use Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 to unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.3.3.”

Am I right? I just wanna be 100% sure about understanding this guide because I have just bought a new Iphone 4 and its LOCKED (Carrier) and I dont have the original SIM and also its from another country, so I will jailbreak it and Hacktivate it with Snowbreeze 2.7.3 and custom ipsw 4.3.3, after that unlock it with Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 and finally activate it “Officially” with SAM,right???

Also another question, first I never have plugged this iPhone 4 to any computer or inserted any SIM, so I need to backup SHSH blobs with TinyUmbrella 5 first that the above Jailbroke-Unlocking process???

    Thanks in advance

    •
      Pramod3 years ago

NO. It simply means that if you have ever relied on an unlock for your iPhone prior to this custom restore, then follow the necessary instructions accordingly. This necessarily doesn’t matter in your case because the only way to unlock an iP4 as of now is by using a Gevey SIM ONLY & not by using Ultrasn0w.
Make sure that you backup your current 4.3.3 SHSH by using iFaith before you proceed. Read this http://bit.ly/qIa3E7.
You can still jailbreak 4.3.3 & use SAM for the official activation though but never an unlock.

Hello. After jailbreaking with the custom 4.3.3. IPSW, I was able to restore it. It finished, but in the end, it said that my device was still in recovery mode, and my iPhone 4 wouldn’t reboot by itself. Suggestions? Thanks.

    •
      Pramod3 years ago

You have performed a restore w/o actually confirming that you have an SHSH saved for iOS 4.3.3 to restore to. W/o having a valid SHSH, you simply cannot force install any iOS onto your device using TU. You will be stuck in a DFU loop always. Read this http://bit.ly/oKCpYX & confirm the list of SHSH that you may have saved for your device first & then restore to those iOS custom versions.

      Pramod3 years ago

Read this http://bit.ly/oKCpYX to verify any saved SHSH files that you may have saved for your iOS/device. If you do not see one, then unfortunately your only way out is to restore to stock iOS 4.3.5 & nothing else.

      Pramod3 years ago

You have restored your device w/o having a valid SHSH saved for it to begin with. W/o having any SHSH saved for the version to which your trying to restore to, you cannot expect it to be untethered because the iPhone checks for its validity & w/o that you will be put into an infinite DFU loop. You should have had them saved first & then perform the restore. Even when TU did not have any saved for you like this http://bit.ly/n8Kkb for your device, you still attempted the restore. Read this http://bit.ly/oKCpYX.

You mean 4.3.5. Yes, but its a tethered one & probably will remain the same until iOS 5 becomes public.

You have used TU for your restore right? Did you make sure that you have an SHSH saved for your device for that particular iOS? Read http://bit.ly/oKCpYX.

    No.
it is not showing the connect to itunes image too on iphone.
is it stuck in recovery or DFU mode??

my current ios is 4.3.is it because of that?
do i need to first update to 4.3.3?

    •

Did you have any SHSH blob for restoring your device to begin with either by Cydia/TU for iOS 4.3/4.3.3?

  •
    Avinash3 years, 1 month ago

i keep on getting error 37 just b4 finishing with the installation.
whats wrong.i use gevey sim(loop mobile).phone is from US at&t carrier.
    i’ve followed all ur steps….

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Eject the Gevey out & make sure that there is no firewall s/w running at the background that might be blocking the connectivity to Apple servers. If you have any, disable them & redo the restore. Try a different PC as well if that did not work.

Thanks, I learned a bit today anyway.

  •
Dewayne Cooper3 years, 1 month ago

OK, Thanks. I was still reading through, and went back up top and had pretty much decided that was the case. No, I don’t have any older shsh blobs saved, I started out on 4.3.4 and went up to 4.3.5, so I have those 2. I’m currently jailbroken with redsn0w, tethered, of course, but saw this and got my hopes up that I could be untethered. No such luck, huh? I just thought that when it said CUSTOM ipsw, that it meant it could build it for you if you didn’t have one saved. So another question…if you DO have a 4.3.3 saved, why couldn’t you just downgrade to it and jailbreak with redsn0w, why would you need a custom one? Has there not been a previous jailbreak for 4.3.3?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Custom IPSWs are used when a user wishes to preserve his iPhone’s vulnerable BB for future unlocks & also keep the iOS updated to the latest. Using a stock IPSW for the restore will wipe out any possibility of a future unlock with the unwanted update, just like how its the case right now for those iP4 users who are on BB 02.10.xx & above.

  •
Dewayne Cooper3 years, 1 month ago

OK, I’m sure it’s been asked, but there’s a thousand comments on here, and I got tired or looking. I’m using an iPhone 4, on iOS 4.3.5, currently jailbroken tethered with redsn0w. Will this work on my phone, and do I need to restore it to 4.3.5 UNjailbroken before I begin this process, or just leave it as it is and do it?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Before all that, only if you have an SHSH blob saved for iOS 4.3.3 on your device by Cydia (http://bit.ly/qS5bjW) can you even begin to proceed with the instructions mentioned here. Do you have any for any of the iOS versions?

  •
    Manish3 years, 1 month ago

Hmmm … Unfortunately, I havent saved SHSH blobs before restore. And, I am getting 3194 error with edited host file also when I try to restore sn0wbreeze custom IPSW.

The baseband has got changed to 6.15 (when first time restore happened properly (without 1015) but phone didn’t reboot after restore completion.

Thats why I guess now I am not even able to update to 4.3.5 thru iTunes.

Looks like I have messed up somewhere big time. Is there any way to untangle and restore my iphone to workable state? Or any low level format available so that I can re-do everything again.

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

3194 with edited hosts simply suggests of a missing SHSH blob for your device. So, you cannot restore to that particular version anymore. You might want to try an iOS 4.1 custom restore as well.
You can very well update to iOS 4.3.5 just by removing the hosts file reference, but you will end up in a recovery loop which cannot be currently solved using FixRec as well. Taking advantage of saved SHSH blobs is the only way out of this mess.

Hi, I have a JB and Unlocked 3GS. I am trying to JB 4.3.3 with sn0wbreeze 2.7 I have followed all the above instructions.

I was earlier getting 1600, 3094 – but those errors were resolved with above mentioned fixes.

Now iTunes is restoring the updated iOS and firmware. Snowbreeze logo is seen on iPhone screen till completion along with the progress bar. But, phone is stuck after reboot. Nothing comes up on the screen. iTune says that phone is in recovery mode. Home button+Power button is not working.

I have tried to restore thru iTune with updated ipsw file multiple times. Everytime it gets stuck after restore/update is complete.

    Please help …….

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Before you went ahead with the restore, did you make sure that you had an SHSH blobs saved for your device on Cydia (http://bit.ly/p07pX2)? Also, avoid using TU for you restores. Use the edited hosts file (http://bit.ly/qWKCRX) instead & if it errors out at 3194 or if you do not have an SHSH blob saved, you cannot update to iOS 4.3.3.

Use a Pwnage Tool created custom IPSW instead to restore your iP3GS to. Also, make sure you have the SHSH blobs saved for your device on iOS 4.3.3 before you attempt the restore without using TU at all. Use the edited hosts files instead.

@Pramod – Thanks for the reply. I jailbroke my phone about 3 months ago and it has worked perfectly. I used snowbreeze at the time. But I ran an update last weekend and it completely undid all my jailbreak apps. Now as I tried to jailbreak again it appears more complicated, with several more versions. I am not familiar with the SHSH blob so not sure if I have it saved.

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

As I mentioned earlier, you cannot do anything & therefore your stuck on iOS 4.2.10 simply because it can’t be jailbroken as of now. You might want to use Tiny Umbrella first to see if you have any saved SHSH blobs on Cydia for any of the earlier versions.

No, there is no unlock for the iP4 other than using a Gevey SIM. Read this http://bit.ly/jIVot1. Also the IMEI unlocks which was available for a very little time now work no more.

Hi….I keep getting this error when i jailbreak using snowbreeze: could not be restored because the firmware file is not compatible… I’m using iphone 4 (verizon) with modem firmware of 4.2.10. I downloaded snowbreeze 2.2.1. Can anyone help?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

You cannot restore/downgrade to any version (earlier than what Apple’s signing currently) unless you have the SHSH blob saved for that version on Cydia. Had you ever jailbroken your device prior to this anytime before? If not, your stuck at 4.2.10 & nothing can be done.

No, never use JBMe3 over an existing JB. Instead restore your device once again & make sure that your using the latest version of Snowbreeze as well which is 2.7.3.

    Hi,
I’m trying to jailbreak my iphone 4 with sn0wbreeze 2.7.3.
after I’m starting TU and restoring using the custom IPSW sn0wbreeze creadted the iphone stays in recovery mode. I don’t get any error message during the recover process.
I tried to use fixrecovery43 right after that and even though it end successfully and I can’t spot any problems the iphone refuse to start and stuck in recovery/DFU mode.
Any idea what went wrong and what can I do to solve it?
    Thanks!

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Do not use TU if you haven’t saved any SHSH blobs for your device locally at all !!
Just tick the Set Hosts to Cydia on Exit option from under TU’s advanced menu and quit it. Now restore your device & if you receive an error 3194 right at the beginning, you cannot restore to that version anymore due to missing SHSH.

Just incase anyone else may have this problem, I think the iPad baseband make it the old bootrom, can this be confirmed? I wasn’t able to find this info anywhere unless I missed it.

Originally my 4.3.3 5.16.02 went new bootroom in iDetector, but after seems to now be old…

Hours of time spent, when after trying with old bootroom, it works… haha fp

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

There is no relation between the iPad BB update & the bootrom version which will change it from one version to another. Its a bootROM (Read-only Memory) afterall.

I read this post on another site “NOTE: Those of you who rely on a carrier unlock MUST STAY AWAY from Redsn0w and stock iOS 4.3.3 firmware. Instead use PwnageTool for Mac, or Sn0wbreeze for Windows.” Is that still the case? I’m on T-mobile so I need the unlock. I tried snowbreeze from another computer and got the error “The iPhone cannot be restored at this time because the iPhone software update server could not be contacted or is temporarily unavailable”. Any suggestions for fixing that issue?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Yes, that is still the case if you rely on an unlock. Update only if you have the SHSH blob saved for that iOS version to which your trying to restore to on Cydia. Make sure that your able to connect to the Apple servers & that no firewall is blocking iTunes from accessing the internet.

    Hi,

I’ve tried to jailbreak my phone for the last couple of days now. I created the 4.3.3 snowbreeze file without any problems but when I try to restore in iTunes in DFU mode I get error 1600. When I try to restore in Pwned DFU mode using iREB I get error 21. Can’t seem to get around it. I’ve tried the suggestions above without any luck. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    iPhone 3GS
    BB 6.15.00
    iOS snowbreeze 4.1

    Thanks!

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Get into a Pwned DFU mode using Redsn0w instead of iReb & then give it a whirl. Make sure that you don’t run RS over an already iRebbed iPhone. Kick it out of the DFU thingy & then use RS.

Stock IPSWs are those that aren’t created by using Sn0wBreeze/PwnageTool. Download the right one for you from here http://bit.ly/kjLNRn & restore to it using Shift+Restore from iTunes. Its simple to understand.
You need not follow the Sn0wBreeze method at all.

Resolved: I had exact same problem. error 21 with old and latest version of itune. tried diffrent pc 32bit or 64bit os no luck.. because its not itune or os it’s problem with DFU mode.
i have tried to put my Apple TV2 in dfu mode using Sn0wbreeze 2.7.3 was keeping getting error21.
Solution: Please use Ifaith (iFaith-Win-1.2.1) instead of sn0wbreeze and choose DFU Pwner then try to restore using itune.. it will work & you won’t get error 21.

Doesn’t matter as long as you have an iP4. You can directly restore to iOS 4.3.3 using the stock Apple IPSW itself since there isn’t an unlock for that version just yet. Ignore my last comment & restore your devicee using the stock IPSW from Apple itself.

Hi there, just a quick question…

I’m going to use sn0wbreeze to jailbreak my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.3. I’m on AT&T, so this means that I don’t have to checkmark the option “Hactivate” when creating the custom IPSW, correct?

Also, what should I do when trying to install the custom IPSW for 4.3.3, since Apple is no longer signing that firmware? How should I go about installing it so that nothing goes wrong?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Yes, you need not check the Hacktivate option while creating the IPSWs. Also, you need to first make sure that Cydia has an SHSH blob saved for your device. Only then will you be able to even start the restore on your device. So make sure you have one.

telling me it does not recognized the sim card….
    2. can i try using the jailbreak here to unlock and jailbreak it back???
pls any one to help me out on what to do…???

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

No. You cannot unlock your iP4 using Ultrasn0w via a JB. The only way to get your iP4 unlocked is by using the Gevey SIM interposer. Also please mention what iOS are you on right now because if its on iOS 4.3.5, you will have only a tethered JB. So, in case you do not have the official SIM to which your iP4 was locked to or any SIM belonging to the same carrier who sells the iP4 on contract, use Redsn0w0.9.8b4 to jailbreak. Remember, this will only jailbreak your iP4 & not unlock it. Gevey is the only way out.

I was not relying on an unlock. My iPhone is on an o2 contract. Ive fixed my baseband issue. I realised after following the sn0wbreeze tutorial, that I ticked the ‘hacktivate’ option. So I recreated the custom ispw, ensured that ‘hactivate’ was unchecked and restored the phone with it and I have now got access to my network provider :)

Use a custom cooked IPSW for your iPhone’s iOS to restore with. You should not use the stock Apple IPSW anymore.

  •

i can’t even restore my 3gs to custom ipsw as the file size still small.. last create custom ipsw 4.3.3 169mb.. ive unchecked all option.. only change the partition size to 950mb. but it still the same.. small size ipsw.. using snowbreeze2.7.3, itunes 10.2.2.. iphone 3gs new bootrom, bb6.15.. and its weird when i cannot restore to any custom ipsw.. can only restore to ios4.1 untethered..

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

For some reason, this seems to be an issue specific to your PC/Mac. You might want to borrow your friends PC/Mac to cook a custom IPSW for yourselves on iOS 4.3.3 & restore using the same machine to avoid any other issues. Don’t change any of the default settings including the partition sizes.

Hi I was also force to upgrade my iPhone 4 to ios 4.3.4 after a failed attempt to upgrade from 4.2.1 to 4.3.3 (iphone got stuck in DFU). I tried many times to downgrade to 4.3.3 or 4.2.1 using TinyUmbrela shsh blobs but I was unsuccessful. Every time I attempted a downgrade I was getting the error 1013 in iTunes (The only way to get rid of this error was to remove any record regarding apple from hosts file but if we do that we can not use the shsh blobs to restore right?). Now I am stuck with ios 4.3.4. If I use the snowbreze to create a custom firmware of ios 4.3.3 will iTunes allow me to downgrade and avoid any errors? I am using iTunes version 10.4.0.80.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Yes, it will. You need to always use a custom IPSW to avoid any 10xx errors during a restore & SnowBreeze will definitely help you out with it. Make sure you use the latest SB version which is 2.7.3.
And removing the reference to Cydia’s server is incorrect. 10xx errors are caused due to the BB mismatch because your using a stock IPSW always for the restore & it is not because of Cydia’s reference in your hosts file. Always use a custom IPSW.

    Hi Pramod,

My iPhone 4 was on 4.1 and jailbroken with jailbreakme.com. Ive finally decided to upgrade to 4.3.3 which failed and went into a recovery loop but at that point as was unaware of the recovery fixes. In a last ditch effort to avoid taking the phone to Apple, I upgraded to the latest 4.3.4. I have saved my shsh blobs via Tiny Umbrella and tried to downgrade which also failed. I then use sn0wbreeze to create a custom ipsw which I have managed to install. My phone is now on 4.3.3 and jailbroken. However I seemed to have skipped anything to do with the baseband and I now have no access to my o2 network provider. My baseband is 04.10.01 and when accessing networks settings it takes approximately 5 minutes! Would I be right in thinking my best bet is to recreate my custom ispw but ensure I set the correct baseband settings? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

i’ve already downloaded tinyumbrella and there is no shsh for me, does it mean that i can jailbreaking my iphone, but not unlocking it, or that i can’t do anything?
should i wait for the unlock ? when could it be able to download?

if i can jailbreak but not unlock, can i unlock it after the jailbreak just downloading ultrasnow or not?

and why can’t i just restore 4.3.3 by using itunes just pressing shift + restore? i don’t really understand it
i guess i can try to do it even i don’t have the ”good” software, is it a big deal or does it mean no problems?

thank you very much, a lot of questions and i don’t know if any answer =)

    •

      Read my latest comment here.
If you don’t have an SHSH, you cannot restore to any of the earlier iOS versions at all. You’ll be stuck with a tethered JB on iOS 4.3.4. You can’t restore via iTunes because Apple knows that its an older version of the iOS than the latest released iOS. So, your ticket to freedom is your SHSH blob.

Have you ever saved your SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella? Use TinyUmbrella to find out which versions of the iOS Cydia has in store for you. Make sure that you enable the Request SHSH from Cydia option from its Advanced menu. And if you don’t have any, your stuck with the only option to update to iOS 4.3 with a tethered jailbreak.

Yes, you need to use Sn0wBreeze 2.7.3 for iOS 4.3.3. Very weird file size though.

  •
    brandon3 years, 1 month ago

thanks for the reply i actually posted after that, saw the post above and re did the custom ipsw with the checks uncheck for those three, retired and still stop when i tunes is “veryifing the firmware” right at the end. host file is setup for TU, and ive saved the shsh. disabled all my firewalls and my pain in the a** norton, still no luck. anything else i may be missing

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

So if you have the SHSH saved for iOS 4.3.3 & TU shows that as well, you can choose the Start TSS Server option of TU and restore. In that way, all it needs to connect to is your local machine where the SHSHs are saved from Cydia.

    brandon3 years, 1 month ago

so i have 3gs recently purchased used, had 4.3.3 currently on it, did not update to 4.3.4, using windows with sn0wbreeze (newest version) along with tinyumbrella.
with the default host file the restore to custom firware does not work, ends with error 3194, from my understanding is it not having the correct shsh ( as a newer ios is out already) using tinyumbrella to bypass the apple servers, with hosts file having the extra ips in it, it starts the restore process gets near the end and then gives me a 37 error. On the apple support page is says that it’s a antivirus conflict, turned everything off and still getting the error. any help would be great!

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

3194 means Cydia is missing the iOS 4.3.3 SHSH blob for your device. You must save your SHSH blob first by using TinyUmbrella’s Save SHSH button & it sure will not work unless you change your host file to Cydia’s server address. With Error 37, seems like your using Sn0wbreeze’s custom IPSW utility. You really need to deselect custom boot logos while creating the IPSW. Make sure that you have selected the right bootrom while creating the IPSW as well. Make sure that in either of the cases, the hosts file is having Cydia’s server address for iTunes to point to.

    hi..
currently i have 3gs (new Bootrom) BB6.15, ios4.1 JB using redsnow.. i want to upgrade to ios4.3.3. my question is, can snowbreeze make my 3gs boot untethered? i need my 3gs to boot untethered..

    •
      Pramod3 years, 1 month ago

Yes, Sn0wBreeze 2.7.3 can do that for you and create a custom untethered IPSW for iOS 4.3.3.

    Hi,

I have followed the steps above and all I keep getting now is a black screen on my iPhone 3gs, and on iTunes either error code 1602, 1604, 1611.

I have restarted my computer, iTunes etc but I just keep getting the same messages and don’t seem to have any light on turning my iPhone on in the slightest. Also while on iTunes, it just says either “preparing iPhone for restore…” or

When its connected to my computer, it doesnt even light up. Can you help me with this?

I have placed the USB in different ports also.

    Thanks

Use iReb to get yourself out of the 16xx errors and proceed with the restore. Follow this: http://bit.ly/k8MNtA. You need to use this right before you start your restore using the custom IPSW.

    iphoneHome3 years, 2 months ago

OK need help here. I did all the steps above to jailbreak an iphone 3GS 5.11.07 version 3.1.2. I chose simple mode and chose old bootrom. It automatically gave me the option to install the ipad baseband. I did and when it was time to restore the phone on itunes after “installing” the custom firmware my iphone just stayed on the pwned DFU state (black screen) and didn’t do anything else. I cant even get the phone to turn on or exit the pwned dfu mode. PLEASE HELP !! thanks !!

    •
      Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

Are you absolutely sure that your iP3GS belongs to an Old Bootrom version? Because ticking the wrong version cause the DFU loop error. Also remove the reference to Saurik’s server from your Hosts file & then redo the Custom restore once again.

    Hi,
I by accident I restored my IPhone 3GS. I jailed broke it with redsn0w and then using cydia to unlock it. Now I am trying to get it out of recovery mode. So I started using sn0wbreeze. I am now on the itunes part, and itunes keeps telling me this error code: 1015. How do i fix this in order to use my phone???
    Much thanks :)

I have a factory unlock mob which was on BB 05.12.02 then i upgraded it to iOS 4.3.3 with iPAD BB 06.15.00.

    Iphone 3gs
    iOS 4.3.3
    BB 06.15.00

i restored my mob again with the original IPSW ios 4.3.3 but it didnt worked and then i googled for a solution where i came to know that i have to Restore it with custom IPSW and i did that. Now i m not liking the speed and working of my iphone i feel like its making problems during some fuctions like gaming connecting to game center etc.

now want to know CAN I Restore MY Iphone 3gs BB 06.15.00 with ORIGINAL iOS4.3.3?

plz help me plz plz i want the original firmware on my iphone?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

You cannot !! You will not be able to use the stock IPSW files from Apple anymore for restoration because your iPad BB is now updated.
You should have NEVER performed the iPad BB update to 06.15.00, because yours is a factory unlocked iPhone & factory unlocked ones are totally SIM free & works with any service provider in the world. By updating it, you have unnecessarily voided each & every warranty that you had with Apple.
You can downgrade your iOS to an earlier version, provided you have saved your SHSH for the same, but until then, custom IPSW restore is the only way out.

You need not jailbreak to keep your iPhone unlocked. Factory unlocked specifically means that your iPhone in unlocked right out of Apple forever. You need not worry anything about future unlocks as your now officially unlocked it for use on any carrier anywhere in the world. :)

    Hi Pramod,
Just want to share my good news to everyone here for encouragement. I have nonactived older model 3gs from Canada. After read almost all the post here there, I decided to give it a shut. I managed download redsn0w 096rc16 on win 7 64bit and did the 4.3.3(5.16.02) to 6.15 and ultrasn0w 123 unlock, after many tries and restores… and it works, with the GPS working, so far so good.
The key points I believed are: run program as administrator, run first round redsn0w to load Cydia only, and second round to install ipad bb, everything others will be streight forward.
Thanks for all you have down for the others.

I Have followed all of your directions, & everything worked, until I pressed Shift+Restore. When I Did That <– & Clicked On The IPSW That I Created Through Snow Breeze, it said that I Couldn't use that, Because The firmware was not compatible with my iPhone..? I don't know what else to do :\

    •
      Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

This is because the iOS you have just created is not compatible to run on your iPhone. Make sure you have created the custom IPSW for your iPhone model only. The numbers within the IPSW names does matter. You cannot create a 4.3.3 custom iOS & use it to restore an iP3G because an iP3G doesn’t support iOS 4.3.3. Do recheck your builds and iPhone model compatibility.

One silly question, just wanted to confirm : I am running on 02.10.04 bb and firmware is 4.3.3. Can i downgrade the baseband (for a software unlock) if i upgrade my firmware without preserving the BaseBand?? I am not liking the Signal Bar issue. I have saved my SHSH Blobs using the cydia app for it.

    •
      Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

No, your BB can never be downgraded once updated unlike your iOS. Also there is no point in preserving your BB on a iP4 as there is no s/w unlock solution for it. So you can very well go ahead and update it to the latest iOS 4.3.3 which the Gevey still supports.

  •

hi my iphone 4 automatically upgraded itself to 4.3.3 while it connected to Itunes and now I am stuck coz the jailbreak was washed out.
I tried snowbreeze to jailbreak it says the process was done and it confirmed it with the apple servers but when the phone starts up it comes up with a recovery screen. i rely on unlock and my current baseband is 4.10.01 and I have a gevey sim pro which i guess is not unlocking.
But i am unable to get rid of the recovery screen I tried fix recovery but it doesnt run the whole command thing, itunes exits when the cmd prompt exits and then i dont see the completion of it saying exiting libpoison.
can someone tell me whats going wrong

    •
      Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

You’ll need to first put your iPhone into a DFU mode and then run FixRec. Only then will it start the process of RecoveryLoop fix.

      •
        Aly3 years, 2 months ago

Ive done it in DFU mode….but the fixrecovery doesnt work it seems to exit without completing the process. I need to know how important is lib usb for this coz it messed up my PC and I am getting blue screen errors duee to this.

        •
          Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

You’ll need to rerun the FixRec process on a different PC/Laptop to get this issue resolved. Its something specific to your PC that’s causing this issue. FixRec needs to work through the whole procedure without any errors successfully. Only then will it be able to kick your device out of its loop.

    Hi Team

After jailbreaking my iphone 4 with Snowbreeze 2.7 ,(preserving my baseband – i was on firmware 4.1 and baseband 02.10.04 – i face Battery drain and Over heating issues. Is there any app that leads to this .. ?? I found in some forum that SBSettings would drain ur battery. so I uninstalled it. Is it true ..? Also, I found the following link too ..http://www.iphonedownloadblog.com/2010/12/03/fix-iphone-battery-drain-after-jailbreaking-and-unlocking/.. Please help me as in how to fix this. (The link above talks about redsnow. Is it true for Snowbreeze too )(also i use Gevey sim to unlock)

    regards and thanks
    Sajith

    •
      Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

Nope, not exactly true. Your Gevey is causing this issue simply because its not the original Gevey. Overheating can never be caused by SBSettings/Sn0wBreeze. Get the Gevey replaced as soon as possible to avoid overheating issues.

      •
        Sgr3 years, 2 months ago

Actually i never felt this overheating issue before jailbreaking .. thats what wonders me ?? !!

          Pramod3 years, 2 months ago

I can assure you that jailbreaking has nothing to do with the battery drainage/overheating issues. Confirm that nothing is running in the background and also make sure that 3G is switched ON only when required. You may use this guide as well for some battery saving tips. http://bit.ly/mootZv

Authorize your computer from Store>>Authorize This Computer option within iTunes after the new install. This is because you need to tell iTunes that your iPhone can be used on this computer as well. Then, onto your left, Right-Click your iPhone name from the left panel and Choose Backup. That’s it. Also, you’ll need to Choose Transfer Purchases as well to backup your Apps.

Hi need assistance, am a Newbie. Pls
    please answer:
    Have an Iphone 4
    PC platform-Windows7
    Baseband-01.59.00
    Current iOS version-4.0.1
Currently jailbroken and Unlocked through-Ultrasn0w ( thru a friend )
    Network Vodaphone India

Am presently experiencing service problems with vodaphone India.
Losing network (no service) dropped calls,
3G enabled but only edge working.
    Installed APN settings thru unlockit.co.nz

    Desired upgraded version is -4.3.3
    Need Answers for:

    Can I upgrade to 4.3.3 ?
    Is it advisable ?
Will it solve my phone network issues or will it create more new issues (don’t want that )

I have saved my SHSH blobs for 4.0.1, 4.2.1 and 4.3.2 thru cydia iSHSH app and emailed it to myself.

If I upgrade will I retain my Baseband 01.59.00 (I want to)
Will I have to unlock the phone again ?
Which is the best jailbreak+unlock combo ?

Last of all, my iphone4 right now is actually a glorified itouch, making calls n texting etc nothing smartphone about it :-(

Will 4.3.3 make my Iphone 4 powerful as it should be by unleashing all the features it boasts of ?
Many many thanks in anticipation of your help.

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Yes you can definitely upgrade your iPhone to 4.3.3. But make sure you follow the custom IPSW restore method to get yourself there. Since you rely on an unlock, you really don’t want to loose it by updating to an unlockable BB of the iOS 4.3.3. So update your iOS ONLY by following this tutorial closely: http://bit.ly/mbFORU
It may/may not solve your phone network issues, because it completely depends on how your network plays out in your area and not a problem of the iPhone.
Yes, you’ll need to JB & unlock your iPhone. Follow the tutorial I have linked in this comment.
What do you actually mean by unleashing all the features it boasts of? What features are you talking about here?

      •
        Rishi3 years, 3 months ago

Thanks a lot for your response.
        I understand that
        A. I have to use snowbreeze 2.7 for PC ( is it ok to use the update 2.7.3)
        B. download iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.ipsw
        C. create the custom firmware via snowbreeze
        D. enter DFU MODE in my iphone –
is this the point where i connect my iphone to my PC or should i have
my iphone connected right from the start
        E. run itunes 10.2.2 and shift + restore my iphone 4
and wait for it to update.

got a few doubts though -
where and how exactly does IE, Tinyumbrella come into play here ?

if i follow the above mentioned steps but something goes wrong in between, what
are the chances of me bricking my phone ?
Sorry but since i am a newbie, just being over cautious i guess.

AND,this is a big problem i face, i had my PC completely overhauled. Lost all my stuff :-(
i believe if i install Itunes and restore my iphone as in step E, i’m gonna
lose all my stuff in my phone, right ? which btw is my only copy of my music n photos
is there a workaround to this Major problem

Many Thanks again for your help.

        •
          Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Yes, you’ll need to update to the latest 2.7.3 as mentioned within the linked post and also you’ll need to keep your iPhone plugged in right from the start and get into DFU.
TU is necessary to save your SHSH, but in your case, you can directly update to 4.3.3 without TU, since this iOS is still being signed by Apple. Once your updated, run TU to get your SHSH saved.
You’ll not brick your iPhone if you follow it closely and slowly. Just make sure your computer doesn’t switch OFF right in the middle.
Yes, you’ll definitely loose all your data that you have on your iPhone. To backup/save your tracks, videos, photos etc.. onto your computer, you may use SharePod. Look here for more details. http://bit.ly/lGMn3l
As for contacts & everything else, make sure you do a backup from iTunes as well.

Hope this didn’t double post on me, but:

    Here is a fun one…

    Iphone 4 (CDMA)

I had it at 4.2.6 and Jailbroke with Sn0wBreeze-cooked 4.2.8 FW. Everything worked great. Decided to go the fresh-start route and NOT restore from a backup (I copied everything I needed beforehand).

Phone activated, I changed some of the settings, then started downloading my usual Cydia apps (i.e. 5-icon dock, bitesms, installous, sbsettings, ifile, and a few others). Once I was satisfied that I had everything from Cydia that I needed for the moment, I connected back to Itunes to bring in all of my Contacts and Apps.

I first setup my 2 mail accounts, and everything was fine. I then brought in my contacts, and everything was fine. I then decided to bring all my apps back in (including my downloaded IPAs). The sync got hung up for about 20 minutes the first time, so I cancelled it and tried again. The second time I synced it, everything looked great, until I looked at my iphone. A few of the app icons were messed up, as in pixel-garbled. I attempted to open some of the apps, and not a single one would open. I would get a flash of the app opening, then be back at the homescreen.

It does this with every single app I had backed up on Itunes. It DOES NOT do it with the built in iphone apps like camera, phone, clock, mail, etc…I removed all of the apps that I just added, and tried to bring in just ONE app, facebook. It did the same thing, open for just under a second then close.

I also noticed that my App Store wont connect to anything, no matter how long I let it sit there. I am out in the middle of nowhere for work, and have slow internet and very bad cell reception (unless I go to a nearby town).

Anybody have any ideas as to what went wrong, or how to fix it?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Did you install AppSync before you synced your iPhone with the downloaded/cracked IPA’s back onto your iPhone? Install AppSync and give it a retry.

      •
        Luke3 years, 3 months ago

Sure did. That was one of the first things I installed. I even tried reloading it from Cydia.

Is there a way yet to restore an iphone WITHOUT itunes? That would probably be the easiest route for me to take. If I could just restore it, I can get it jb’d again quite quickly. The issue is that where I’m working, I can never never never contact the itunes servers. I have to take a roadtrip just to get decent internet.

        •
          Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

I’m afraid, but Restores are only possible via iTunes, atleast for now and you do need internet connectivity for the same.
Since its only your Apps that’s causing this issue, try to sync in your Apps just after a fresh restore. Probably that should work.

          •
            Luke3 years, 3 months ago

I was afraid of that. Looks like I will be making a roadtrip in a few hours. Thanks for the help.

    Hi,
I had iOS 4.2.1 on my iPhone jail broken using greenP0ison. I had many apps purchased from apple app store, from cydia, my outlook contacts and customized settings for icons etc. Then I used sn0wbreeze 2.7.3 to jailbreak my iphone and everything on my phone is gone.. :(- I thought that the .ipsw file is getting created specifically my phone and my apps, settings everything is going to remain same..

First of all is there a way to get my iPhone back as it was, meaning I can restore everything back?
I know if I want to get piece by piece that I can get back all apps from apple app store. What about my songs, contacts, cydia apps, settings etc?

The only thing is that I had to re install windows 7 on my system, I installed on the new hard drive. I still have the old one. But this was done on 4/28. and I clicked many snaps, updated contacts in between.

    Please help.. This is urgent….

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

      Amit,
Sn0wBreeze IPSW completely restores your device with a Custom cooked IPSW. So, NO. If you have forgotten to take a backup of your iPhone before restore, then I’m afraid to say that there is no way you can get them back. Your songs, contacts, calendar, settings and everything is lost if you restore. If you have the latest backup of your iPhone in iTunes, you can restore to it very well an get everything back. Good Luck.

Sn0wBreeze 2.7.x will only support iOS 4.3.3 custom restore. So, if you try to drop in any IPSW other than 4.3.3, it’ll not recognize it.

Did you tick the iPad BB option that had come up when you were creating the custom restore via Sn0wbreeze ? If not, you had to. Recreate another IPSW with this option ticked and then restore to it.

Don’t unplug it from your computer at all. Never do that mistake as doing so might render your iPhone useless in case your battery runs off. There’s no problem at all in keeping your iPhone hooked onto the computer whilst the jailbreak continues. And yes, you’ll need to check either one and not both at the same time so that Redsn0w doesn’t crash.

Yes, definitely you can. 10.3.1 is jailbreak safe.

    Hey wolverine

So I have an Iphone 3GS on 4.3.3 with baseband 05.16.02 I just need to unlock it as I have moved from the uk to africa. Would you suggest I use redsnow or snowbreeze to jailbreak first then ultrasnow to unlock? is it necessary that the phone is jailbroken to do this? and when it is unlocked can you get rid of the jailbreak and keep the unlock? as I would want to update my phone etc as usual.

    Very Many Thanks in advance

    Lonyons

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Lonyons, you’ll always need to jailbreak if you need to unlock your iP3GS as the jailbreak is necessary to install the necessary fix to get your unlock working. So you can understand that if you remove your jailbreak, you’ll remove your unlock as well. You’ll need to update your BB to an iPad BB if you want to get unlocked. In case you do this, you’ll void any warranty that you may have from Apple. Also, you may loose the GPS functionality as well. Go ahead and download the latest Redsn0wRC16 from here http://bit.ly/kOhAeX and follow this guide here http://bit.ly/lccwoE to know how to update & JB your iPhone.

!!!PLEASE HELP!!!itunes 10.2.2 does not display on the itunes side bar my iphone 4 device after following the instructions above. Therefor, I cannot click on my device to bring up the itunes restore prompt. I RECENTLEY purchased Verizon iphone, and RECENTLY updated to 4.2.8 (8E401). Everyting indicates I followed the instructions but, again, my iphone is not recognized by itunes when in it appears my device is in DFR state. Using SnOwbreeze v2.7

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Try reinstalling iTunes. I’m sure its some glitch in iTunes.

      •
Jack Napier3 years, 3 months ago

Not the case, itunes recognizes my iphone when it is powered on and connected to my pc, not in DFR state or when it is turned off. How can this jailbreak break even work for anyone? Maybe, my iphone is to new, and there’s something apple has done to prevent. Seems strange itunes would recognize anything that is not turned on or in DFR state…Either this jailbreak is a hoax or I’m a idiot!

        •
          Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

LOL JB is definitely not a hoax !! Your meaning to tell that you are not able to read your device to get you started with the Restore right? Try connecting your iPhone on a different computer to see if its still behaving in the same manner. Apple hasn’t done anything to your device. Just try it out.

i have a question but i dont know if this is allowed in this forum. i jailbreak my 3gs using snowbreeze to 4.3.3 then after jailbreak some of my apps i download using installous wont work. what the problem? any solutions? and when i redownload it, a prompt appear “invalid ipa”. any solutions?

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Sometimes, the IPA’s installed from Installous are bad. It happens almost all the time. For solution, the best way is to download the IPA onto your Desktop first and then sync it back to your iPhone via iTunes itself. You can goto http://apptrackr.org to get the necessary IPA files and sync them by just dragging and dropping it into iTunes & sync. Also make sure that the app supports your iOS version, else it’ll not sync.

      •

the apps from http://apptrackr.org wont also work on my iphone. every jailbreak apps wont work. but apps from app store work.

Looks like your iPhone hasn’t been jailbroken properly. Follow the tutorial above to re-jailbreak your iPhne. Sometimes, due to missing files, you can get this error. A completely fresh restore is sure to help you out of this issue. Follow the in this post to do so. :)

Well in that case, I would suggest you to go ahead and follow the Custom restore of your IPSW (in case you rely on an unlock) else you can go ahead and Restore via the stock iOS FW. In either case, make sure you have backed up your iPhone if you haven’t.

Nothing happens. You’ll still be jailbroken on the latest 4.3.3. Make sure to take a backup before you start because Sn0wBreeze does a
      1. Complete restore of your iOS
      2. Jailbreak

    Jon3 years, 3 months ago

I heard that when you jailbreak your iphone, you will NEVER be able to connect it to itunes to synchronise. If you do this will undo the jailbreak and delete cydia.

    Is this true???

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

This is absolutely false. You can very well use iTunes and sync and download Apps off the AppsStore as well onto your iPhone. No functionality is lost. You only gain more out of jailbreaking. :) Also nothing will undo your jailbreak/unlock unless you Restore/Update your iOS. So be careful there too. :)

  •
    Jon3 years, 3 months ago

I successfully managed to jailbreak and get cydia on my phone. However now it says no service. Ive lost all network service.

    I have iphone 4, 4.3.3, baseband 04.10.01.

    I checked all the boxes:
    •Activate the iphone
    •Enable animated boot logo capability
    •install ssh
    •Enable gestures menu

Does this have something to do with it?

    •
      Jon3 years, 3 months ago

I thought you can’t use ultrasnow with a baseband 04.10.01.

I thought I need gevey sim?

      Where can I get/buy this?

Which one do I need (gevey sim turbo? or something else?), could you send a link please?

      Thank You

Oops, My bad Jon, have removed my previous comment. Yes, your right. You can unlock your iPhone 4 only by using the Gevey on this BB. You can get it off Applenberry.com itself. The choice of which one to buy is upto you. Have a look here http://bit.ly/kZDlR4 & here http://bit.ly/lHufM4 as well to make up your mind. Both definitely works. :)

Have you restored your custom IPSW which Sn0wBreeze has created for you ? You’ll need to restore this Custom FW which’ll be found at your desktop. Download the latest Sn0wBreeze 2.7.3 from here http://bit.ly/lujZTw. Create your custom IPSW & Jialbreak your iPhone by following this guide http://bit.ly/mbFORU. Make sure you follow them step-by-step. :)

        J3 years, 3 months ago

        Hi,

I dont understand, i followed the guide above. It doesnt mention restoring the custom fw which is found on the desktop.

I only bought my iphone 4 last week so i am new to this.

Was i supposed to have the iphone connected via usb to itunes throughout the whole process? Because i only connected it at step 9 when it said connect ur idevice to pc.

Also what is cydia? Is this where i can get all apple apps free?

After the reboot, can i restore my previous settings and apps when it asks me on itunes?

Finally, i checked all the boxes:
        •Activate the iphone
        •Enable animated boot logo capability
        •install ssh
        •Enable gestures menu

Did i need to check these boxes? And what do these mean in basic terms?

Your help will be greatly appreciated!

          Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Oki, so you’ll need to follow the instructions as mentioned in the post. Its very simple and easy. Just follow them closely. Everything is just explained well and good. What you did is right at Step 9. Nothing is wrong.
Yes, you can very well restore back your existing backup onto your iPhone just like how it would be. Make sure you have made a backup of the iPhone before proceeding.
Cydia is NOT for buying Apple apps for free. Cydia doesn’t promote piracy. Cydia is its own repository of 3rd party s/w that you can use to customize your iPhone to the max which Apple by default doesn’t allow you to.

Yes, your selections are right. Just follow the guide and the screenshots closely. Look into the details of the same. They are explained in the post as well. :)

The installation of the custom ipsw goes perfectly fine on itunes. It says that let your device reboot, but it never does. My iphone 4 remains in DFU mode (black screen). I tried fixrecovery, but that doesnt work either.

    Please advice

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Hold the Power button+Menu button continuously for about 15 secs until you see the Apple logo on your screen. At the DFU mode, you’ll not be able to use FixRecovery as its a tool to kick you out of only the RecoveryLoop. Let me know how it goes. :)

Sorry dude… tried that, but my phone is still stuck in DFU mode … any other suggestions?

        •
          Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Try to keep the phone charged before you proceed with the installation. This same scenario happened to me last night and the reason it was happening was all because of low battery. When your battery falls below 20%, it’ll need sometime to get itself charged up so as to complete the process of restore. I understood this and so all I did was to keep it in charge for an hour or so and then Custom Restore my IPSW. Voila !! Hope it helps. :)

    Hi Wolverine,
I have an iphone 3GS 4.3.3 with baseband 06.15.00. It had baseband 05.16.02 but I changed it so I could unlock it. I used redsn0w 0.9.6rc16 and everything seem to go well. I changed baseband to 06.15.00 – I then used cydia to get ultrasnnow so I could unlock . I put in my new Tmobile sim card . Tmobile appears in the top left corner and I have service only it keeps going in and out of service . What should I try next.
    Jean

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

According to your problem, the issue is not related to the unlock or to the iPhone itself. The iPhone is able to detect T-Mobile carrier which confirms that the unlock procedure you performed worked gr8. Good job there. :) Now, this problem is purely because of the coverage area of T-Mobile in your area. Sometimes if 3G services (if enabled) aren’t that great in your area, the signal drops and comes back every now and then. Make sure your area has a good T-Mobile coverage. Hope it helps. :)

    Hi Wolverine,

I have iphone 4 , firmware 4.1 ,base band 02.10.04. And i use Gevey to unlock my iphone4 (i use Airtel -India sim)

    1. Should i tick the Hactivate option in Snowbreeze while building custom firmware ?

    2. Can i use Snowbreeze 2.7.3 and 4.3.3 ipsw to build my custom firmware and install it to my ip4 running on 4.1. (preserving my baseband)?

3.I have saved SHSH Blobs from another computer (due to this net proxy thing). Will that serve the purpose ?

Thanks a lot in advance.. !

    regards
    sajith

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

      Hello Sgr,

      1. Yes, you’ll need to tick the hactivate option in Sn0wBreeze if you don’t have the official carrier SIM to which the iPhone 4 was locked to. Incase you have the official SIM, you can skip this and later after restore, pop in the official SIM to activate the iPhone via iTunes.

      2. Yes, you can use Sno0wBreeze 2.7.3 to build your custom IPSW.

      3. Your SHSH blobs will be saved by Cydia as well. So, you need not worry about your SHSH blobs sitting in a different computer. Do not forget to redirect your iTunes to Cydia’s host while restoring from a custom IPSW.

    Hi
Enjoy reading your posts .Only wish I found it sooner. I have an iphone 3GS 4.3.3 (8J2) that HAD baseband 05.16.02 I jailbroke it using Redsn0w 0.96rc16. All seemed to go well. I then used Cydia and Ultras0w to change baseband to 06.15.00 so I could unlock the phone to use my tmobile sim card. All still seemed to go well . my phone then said tmobile in the upper left only it keeps going from tmobile to no service to tmobile to no service . My sim card is brand new and works fine in my samsung phone. I am not electronic savvy . I am really amazed I got this far on my own. Not bad for a 55 year old MOM. Can I undo this mess and try your method . If I can undo jailbreak and undo the unlock ,how do I go about it. Thanks

Good job on getting it to work the first time itself. :) Absolutely, you can undo the unlock/Jailbreak by restoring your iDevice to a Custom IPSW file. You may first downlod the latest Sn0wBreeze from here http://bit.ly/kOhAeX. After that, follow the same steps as mentioned above. Once the restore completes, you can then follow this guide http://bit.ly/lAcuoN to unlock your iPhone on 06.15.00 BB. Good Luck. :)

    Guys,
Next week Im going to have new Iphone 4 from USA (AT&T lock probably). I don’t know what iOS and BB it will have. Can I use sn0wbreeze to hactivate it with iPhone 4 (GSM) » iPhone3,1_4.3.3_8J2_Restore.ipsw ?? even if it can have for example iOS 4.3.2 or something like that ?

    Thanks !
    Maciek

    •
      Pramod3 years, 3 months ago

Great news on buying the iPhone 4. Well, if its from the US, it’ll be locked to AT&T for sure. The probability of the iOS & BB in it will be of the latest 4.3.3 with BB 04.10. You must know that this BB is currently unlockable, meaning you’ll not be able to use it with any other carrier. Alternatively, only a manual unlock is possible for the latest BB using the Gevey SIM interposer. You may have a look at it over here http://bit.ly/m6xm1G. This is the only method to unlock the latest BB.
Yes, you can always use sn0wBreeze to hactivate your iPhone on 4.3.3.

Absolutely. You can follow other guides available here on how to jailbreak the iOS version of your choice for your iDevice. All you need to do is to make sure you download the tool specific to the iOS version of your choice you wish to jailbreak. All follow easy and similar steps as well. :)

    Hi Wolverine,
i have an iphone 3gs with new bootrom and baseband 5.13.04 its still in version 4.0.1 and i jailbroke it with JailbreakMe 2.0 and unlocked it with Ultrasn0w. Today i was trying to jailbreak with redsn0w, and i tried to restore the device, now it stuck in the “restoring iphone software” and has been like that for hours. I was able to create a custom ipsw based on your instructions and have and active internet connection. I have tried putting it in PWNED DFU mode via IREB and also without and tried multiple times. It still shows only “restoring iphone software”

Im stuck at that particular place and have been for like an hour or so… The Snowbreeze flake and the progress bar is visible on the screen. And approximately 90-95% finished according to the bar.

        It’s an 3Gs 4.0.1 and I used Snowbreeze 2.7.3 creating a 4.3.3 fw.

Any ideas? How long should I wait before I ‘give up’ on the restoring?

Does iTunes show any error? It shouldn’t take more than 10-15 mins for the restore to complete on your iPhone 3GS. Do not pull the cable or do anything funny during the restore as it may cause irreversible damages to the phone. Be patient & wait for the complete process to finish.

how do i delete those entries? by writing exactly like in your example there?
    or is something am missing?

and after writing the same way as in your example,do i deleate? do i save or again there is something am missing? cause the pad does not do anyting, it does not even allow me to save.

hello Wolverine, i have an iphone 3gs 4.3.3(8J2) with 05.16.02 baseband. i have followed your instructions on how to jailbreak and unlock an i phone to the letter both through redsn0w and snowbrease. the problem is in the reds0w when i choose to instal i pad baseband it tells me to wait for a moment only to give me a reply later that the baseband could not be fetched and that i should try to check my internate if is intact. my internate is always good and i always followur advise of choosing install cydia first and then later to choose install i pad baseband.

then i went for sonwbrease, when creating custom IPSW when am told to wait it only ends up giving me the response that it cannot download i pad baseband and that it is aborting. i am really frustrated and am in Africa Tanzania please advise me on how to unlock this phone so that i can continue to use it here.

Yeah. For some reason, your PC is not allowing Redsn0w or Sn0wbreeze to download iPad bb files from Apple servers. How to fix? Simply remove all entries with gs.apple.com from your Windows or Mac HOSTS file and reboot your iPhone.

iPod3,1-4.3.3_8J2_Restore then when trying to restore im using sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 3G-4.3.3

Also I am trying the program on my 3G Touch first.
and it had IPSW 4.2.1 standard before trying to jailbreak it.

        •
          Wolverine3 years, 3 months ago

Look this error only occurs when you are restoring wrong firmware version that is not compatible with your iDevice. Example: Restore iPhone 3GS firmware on iPhone 4 or restoring iPod Touch 3G firmware on iPod Touch 4G. Another possibility is that your firmware is corrupt or do not end in an IPSW extension.

Hi, I was just wondering if i need to have my iphone 4 on firmware 4.3.3 already upgraded before starting sn0wbreeze. Also one more question that I have is that are all iphone 4 baseband supported for unlock with Ultrasn0w? I only see basebands specified for the iphone 3gs.

    Thanks a bunch!

    •
      Wolverine3 years, 3 months ago

No you do not need to upgrade your iPhone 4 to stock iOS 4.3.3 firmware before restoring iOS 4.3.3 custom firmware. Only iPhone 4 01.59.00 baseband is supported by Ultrasn0w 1.2.3. If you have iPhone 4 with any other baseband version, you will not be able to unlock it using Ultrasn0w. You can only use Gevey SIM to unlock your iPhone.

I’m using Sn0wbreeze 2.2.1 for iPhone 3Gs with 6.15.00 baseband and IOS 4.2.1. I jailbroke my iPhone using Redsn0w however Cydia doesn’t work, it always crashes when I click it. I tried soft reset by holding power/home keys and it doesn’t resolve issue. I am trying to keep the same 4.2.1 IPSW and I understand that I have to do a restore in order to remove the corrupted Cydia file on my phone. I’ve tried to use the steps above on Sn0Wbreeze to restore it. I get through all of the steps/processes on Sn0wBreeze and then when it tells me to exit out of Sn0wBreeze and go into iTunes and do a restore using my the IPSW that i downloaded, iTunes gives me “Error 3194″.

    My hosts file shows as
    # 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com
    # 127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com

I had this error previously when trying to restore my iPhone before changing the baseband with a customer IPSW and I unchecked the option in TinyUmbrella and I customized the hosts fils to what it is currently set at so I know that is not the problem. How can I get around this?

    •
      Wolverine3 years, 3 months ago

Just remove all entries in HOSTS file with gs.apple.com and reboot your PC (Important). Then restore iOS 4.3.3 custom IPSW. You will not get any error. For more info, read this http://bit.ly/myffI3

      •
        Steven3 years, 3 months ago

That still doesn’t work. Like I said in the post above, I already unchecked the option in TinyUmbrella so that it wouldn’t request SHSH from Cydia. I deleted anything that says gs.apple.com in the hosts file as an administrator, saved, rebooted…still receiving error.

Ok. Tell me one thing, when you open http://gs.apple.com in your default browser, what you see? Apple website or Cydia homepage?

Ok do this! Save iOS 4.3.3 SHSH blobs using TinyUmbrella. Once saved, start TSS Server and then try to restore. Hopefully you will not get any restore error this time.

After running Sn0wbreeze, creating custome IPSW file for 3gs and putting iphone into DFU mode, I get the following message when I open itunes 10.2.2:

“itunes must check the iphone software update server to identify this device”

Is it safe to click OK, or will this result in my 3gs baseband being changed (currently have one that ultrasnow will unlock and don’t want to lose unlock)? Thanks!

    •
      Wolverine3 years, 3 months ago

Yeah, hit OK. After hitting OK, iTunes should detect your iPhone in DFU mode. It wont upgrade your bb instantly until you hit the update or restore button.

You forgot to choose Activate the iPhone [Hacktivate] option in step 5.

  •
iPhone n00b3 years, 4 months ago

Ive followed all the steps 4.3.3 custom files etc on 06.15.00 BB for 3gs, everything worked fine through itunes but i installed ultrasn0w to unlock and its finding the carrier but no signal bars? Ive tried an orange sim (thats what it was locked to) and my o2 and neither have any bars :(

    •
      Wolverine3 years, 4 months ago

Before jailbreaking, your iPhone 3GS was on iPad baseband? If yes then you should not have selected Install 06.15.00 iPad baseband option in step 5. 2ndly some people choose wrong bootrom version in step 3, this cause Ultrasn0w unable to unlock your iPhone and in some cases damage your baseband chip which disables your Wifi and Bluetooth. This guy named iPhone http://bit.ly/ipnnui had same problem as yours. Later we discovered on chat that he did two mistakes:
      1. He upgraded his factory unlocked iPhone 3GS to iPad baseband
      2. He selected old bootrom while jailbreaking his iPhone with Redsn0w (He had actually new bootrom iPhone 3GS)

      •
iPhone n00b3 years, 4 months ago

i cant remember the old baseband but i know i changed it to 06.15.00 before jailbreaking when i tried to use ultrasn0w 1.2.2 a while ago, but when i got to step 5 i didnt install 06.15.00 again, and i picked the new bootroom so i should be fine there, my orange sim has no bars and o2 sim shows no service now

        •
          Wolverine3 years, 4 months ago

See if you have SHSH blobs of any older firmware http://bit.ly/dEocbM then you should downgrade to it. iOS 4.3.3 has definitely some issues in unlocking iPhone 3GS users with iPad baseband (Ur not alone)

          Another possibility:
          Re-create iOS 4.3.3 IPSW with Sn0wbreeze 2.7.3 http://bit.ly/j6DplQ and choose Baseband Preservation Mode. Once created and restored, use Redsn0w 0.9.6RC15 http://bit.ly/lAi8at but skip step 1, 2, 3 & 4.

          •
iPhone n00b3 years, 4 months ago

Ok, i tried tiny umbrella and i have no old basebands there. I have re-created the 4.3.3 with sn0wbreeze 2.7.3 loads of times now, tried the preservation method and redsn0w with the 4.3.3, everything seems to be fine booting up etc, but once i install ultrasn0w i am just not getting any signal at all :(

          •

You tried to reboot your iPhone after installing Ultrasn0w? Also go to Cydia -> Manage -> Packages and see if Ultrasn0w is installed or not?

Use iDetector http://bit.ly/eNTqmG and see what bootrom it tells you?

          •

          •
            Wolverine3 years, 3 months ago

So you don’t have SHSH blobs to downgrade? The only option left is to re-create iOS 4.3.3 custom IPSW for your iPhone 3GS using the above guide (Expert Mode) and then restore it. Once done, unlock ur iPhone using Ultrasn0w 1.2.3.

        •
iPhone n00b3 years, 3 months ago

No i have no SHSH blobs to downgrade the baseband, i have numerous times but when i install ultrasn0w and reboot i have no signal on any simcards i try

          •
            Wolverine3 years, 3 months ago

Ok. Only solution left is to create iOS 4.3.3 custom IPSW using Sn0wbreeze 2.7.3 (Expert Mode) and then restore it. Hopefully Ultrasn0w will work this time.

    •

      Recovery for upgrading firmware.
      DFU for restoring stock IPSW.

Do not worry about that message of iTunes. Your iPod Touch should be jailbroken on iOS 4.3.3. You can see Cydia on your homescreen. Another possibility is that you restore stock IPSW of iOS 4.3.3 instead of custom IPSW. Make sure the firmware file you are restoring has name sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 4-4.3.3.ipsw

No worries, it is nearly impossible to brick an iPhone 4 until you drop it into your swimming pool :P So you see this screen http://i.imgur.com/wtS3O.png right? Just use TinyUmbrella (Fix Recovery) here http://bit.ly/k3zzIx and kick it out of recovery mode loop.

Run it through command prompt. Do not run fixrecovery43.exe directly. Open CMD first and then navigate to the directory where fixrecovery43.exe is present. Alternatively you can simply drag fixrecovery43.exe into any command prompt window and hit the enter key!

Hi Everyone, I have an I-phone 3GS with baseband 05.16.02
I want to unlock my phone so I can use a Orange or Virgin Sim
card in it to use on everything, Idearly I don’t want to lose any
functions off the phone or risk it in any way. I just need to use
a Virgin sim card in it.
Whats my best options? Is it worth trying now or am i better off waiting
until it is properly cracked? I don’t like the sound of losing the GPS
fuctions either. Is there any other way of using a Virgin Sim for the
time being until a better crack has come along to allow me to jailbreak
and unlock without risking my phones functions?
I’ve read quite a bit but I am still pretty lost as to what my best option
is. Any help to point me in the right direction would be great! or if you
know about anything which is coming in the near future which would be better suited for someone in my situation? Thanks again for taking the time to read this post.

    Good evening,

I just jailbroke my iphone 3GS on 4.3.3 (on baseband 05.16.02) iOS using sn0wbreeze, and in the custom IPSW options I set it to change to the ipad baseband (06.15.00) and to install cydia, etc.

Everything loaded up beautifully and I can access cydia on my phone, but after checking my firmware it still says that I’m on 05.16.02 baseband, so I am unable to access texts/calls etc. I would like to know how to unlock this phone so I can use it on any carrier, (keeping in mind I have no blots, downgraded versions or anything).

What do I do next, as I’ve already loaded a custom IPSW with sn0wbreeze that was supposed to change the baseband to the ipad one, but didn’t ? Once again the phone is on iOS 4.3.3

    Thank you so much

Hi trying to JB from JB’ed 4.3.1 to 4.3.3 using snowbreeze 2.7r2 expert mode/build IPSW seems to stuck at error 3194. Adding the 74.208.105.171 gs.apple.com to the host file did not help. Anyone see this problem?

    •
      Wolverine3 years, 4 months ago

When you are restoring iOS 4.3.3 stock or custom IPSW, you should not redirect iTunes to Saurik or Cydia server as Apple is still signing iOS 4.3.3 SHSH blobs for all supported iDevices. So what you need to do to bypass 3194 error? Just remove all content from your Windows HOSTS file and restart your PC. Try to restore the custom IPSW and hopefully iTunes will not throw 3194 error. Cheers!

Goto your hosts file over here: c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. Check your hosts file for a line like this 74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com. If its there, delete the line completely & reboot your PC. Once back, continue with the restore. You’ll have no more 3194 errors. :)

    Hi Jaxov

    1. Can I JB my iphone 4 4.3.2 (previously:jailbroken with redsn0w 0.9.6rc14) with Sn0wbreeze 2.7? I don’t relay on unlock, mine is factory unlock. If I want to JB with Snowbreeze 2.7, shall I clean restore to 4.3.3 first via itunes?

    2. After JB with redsn0w rc14, I found out my iphone 4 side silent (mute) switches goes just crazy, vibrates and no vibrates whenever it’s up or down. Before JB its perfectly normal (vibrate when turn-on and no vibrate when turn-off). Does Sn0wbreeze 2.7 have this problem/bug?

    Thanks in advance.

    •
      Wolverine3 years, 4 months ago

      1. As you are factory unlocked user, you should go for Redsn0w 0.9.6RC15 http://bit.ly/lAi8at Yes if you use Sn0wbreeze or Redsn0w, in both case you must restore your iDevice.
      2. Yes there was a bug in iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak payload which made side-switch of iPhone crazy. I am on iOS 4.3.3 and i have still same issue :( Even if you use Sn0wbreeze or Redsn0w to jailbreak iOS 4.3.3, either way you will have this issue. Today i will jailbreak iPhone with PwnageTool and will let you know!

      •
        cvliew3 years, 4 months ago

        1. Actually, I am confused and bleak, some told me that I only need to clean restore via itunes if I’m using redsn0w to jailbreak if I’m using snowbreeze to jailbreak not need to clean restore, just run on top of it. Which one is correct?
For my case (factory unlocked), it is OK to jailbreak with sn0wbreeze?

        2. I don’t know which one was true or false. Some said after jailbroken with sn0wbreeze 2.7, they don’t have side-switch problem and working perfectly fine.
But I can 100% confirm, jailbreak with redsn0w the side-switch had problem and not sure with sn0wbreeze because I haven’t tried it. What do you think? Have you tried it with sn0wbreeze?

        Thank you.

          1. As you are upgrading your firmware from iOS 4.3.2 to iOS 4.3.3, so your MUST do a full restore. Using Redsn0w will require you to restore iOS 4.3.3 stock IPSW and using PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze will require you to restore iOS 4.3.3 custom IPSW.

          2. I can 100% confirm that the problem of side-switch is still there in iOS 4.3.3 JB. It doesn’t matter which JB tool you use because i have tested Redsn0w 0.9.6RC15, PwnageTool 4.3.3 and Sn0wbreeze 2.7 (All have side-switch button issue :()

i already jailbroke my phone with redsn0w. only to realize after that my baseband is not eligible to lock using ultrasn0w 1.2.3 while the whole purpose of my jailbreak is to unlock my iphone 4.3.3. does any of you know when they will release a newer ultrasnow to unlock baseband 04.10.01? or if i can jailbreak my phone again with snowbreeze2.7??? what should i do???? any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You can always re-jailbreak your iPhone with Redsn0w 0.9.6RC15 or Sn0wbreeze 2.7 but this wont change your baseband as your baseband has been already upgraded to 04.10.01. The only way to unlock your iPhone is through Gevey SIM. iPhone Dev-Team is also working on the iPhone 4 NCK unlock method but don’t keep your hopes high on them!

What is the difference between basebands of different ios’s ?.

Every firmware has its own baseband version. Restoring stock iOS IPSW on your iDevice upgrades your baseband by default. By using tools like Sn0wbreeze and PwnageTool, you can preserve your baseband. Lower the baseband version, it is more likely to be supported by Ultrasn0w tool for unlock.

Does the performance or functionality of different basebands vary ?.

Apple says that every baseband update brings fixes to some minor bugs but in reality they are just making it harder for hackers to unlock an iPhone.
