Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G & iPad with Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 [Tethered]

Here is a step-by-step guide to jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G & iPad with Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14. It is a tethered jailbreak for all supported iDevices and is only suitable to those iPhone users who do not rely on an unlock. Tethered jailbreak means you need to boot your iDevice into tethered jailbroken state using Redsn0w on every reboot.

Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14
NOTE: The procedure below is valid for both Windows & Mac OS X users. Following this tutorial will upgrade your iPhone 4 baseband to 04.10.01 and iPhone 3GS baseband to 05.16.02. In this tutorial i will be jailbreaking my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.2, however same tutorial is valid if you are trying to jailbreak iPhone 3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G or 1st-Gen iPad on iOS 4.3.3

Prerequisites:

  • Download iTunes 10.2.2 for Windows or Mac OS X from here
  • Download stock iOS 4.3.2 for iDevice from here
  • Download stock iOS 4.3.3 for your iDevice from here
  • Download Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 for Windows or Mac OS X from here

Steps to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.3 on Windows & Mac OS X Using Redsn0w:

  1. Restore stock iOS 4.3.3 IPSW on your iDevice using iTunes. To do so, connect your iDevice to your PC or Mac and launch iTunes. In the summary page, hold down the SHIFT key (ALT for Mac) and click on the Restore button. Choose stock iOS 4.3.3 IPSW and leave the rest on iTunes.
  2. Once your iDevice has been restored to stock iOS 4.3.3 firmware, launch Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14. Click on the Browse button and choose stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW (Not iOS 4.3.3 IPSW). Let Redsn0w process the firmware file. Once done, click on the Next button to patch the kernel of the provided firmware.
  3. Browse for iOS 4.3.2 IPSWRedsn0w 0.9.6RC14 (Patching Kernel)

  4. Under the jailbreak options, choose Install Cydia option and click on the Next button. To enable boot animations on your iDevice, you can optionally choose Allow boot animation option. If you are iPhone 3GS users with 05.16.01 or 05.16.02 baseband, you can choose Install iPad baseband option to upgrade your baseband to 06.15.00. You MAY lose your GPS functionality on upgrading your current baseband to iPad baseband.
  5. Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 (Install Cydia)

  6. Plug your iDevice to your PC or Mac and turn it OFF completely by pressing the Power button.
  7. Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 (Turn Off iPhone)

  8. Now put your iDevice into DFU mode using the following instructions:
    • Hold down the Power (corner) button for 3 seconds.
    • Without releasing the Power button, also hold down the Home (bottom center) button for 10 seconds.
    • Without releasing the Home button, release the Power button BUT KEEP holding the Home button for 15 seconds until Redsn0w detects your iDevice in DFU mode.

    Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 (DFU Instructions)

  9. As soon as Redsn0w will detect your iDevice in DFU mode, it will go through number of jailbreak steps including Exploiting with Limera1n, Uploading ramdisk and Uploading kernel. If you find Redsn0w stuck at any of the said steps, follow this guide. Once done, click on the Finish button to close Redsn0w. Rest of the jailbreak process will be done on your iDevice.
  10. Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 (Done)

  11. Once your iDevice has been jailbroken on iOS 4.3.3, it will get stuck at Apple logo. This is because the current iOS 4.3.3 jailbreak with Redsn0w is tethered. You need to boot your iDevice into tethered jailbroken state. To do so, follow launch Redsn0w again and repeat step 2. In step 3, only choose Just boot tethered right now option. Follow on-screen instructions to put your iDevice in DFU mode and let Redsn0w to boot it into tethered jailbroken state.

Can you show me how i do everything u said here “Use iFaith http://bit.ly/qIa3E7 & save the SHSH blob for your device first. Later, create a signed IPSW using the saved SHSH blob & restore your device. After that, use Redsn0wRC19 to jailbreak your device.” ? Like with teamviewer or sumthing.

Read the article first to which i have pointed you to in my reply. Create the signed IPSW using the Create Signed IPSW within iFaith itself & follow the instructions.

You have simply used the wrong version of Redsn0w to jailbreak your device in the first place. Use iFaith http://bit.ly/qIa3E7 & save the SHSH blob for your device first. Later, create a signed IPSW using the saved SHSH blob & restore your device. After that, use Redsn0wRC19 to jailbreak your device.

Seems like your on iOS 4.3. Do not follow this guide anymore. An untethered solution for the iPhone 4 is already out. Download the latest Redsn0w from here http://bit.ly/lMeWpa and then follow this guide instead http://bit.ly/kPhfh0. If you are already on an untethered JB, just re-run RS only with the Just Boot Tethered option ticked.

After my 3gs boots up, Cydia icon appears but is just a white square and doesn’t run at all.

Its because you have iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom) which is jailbroken untethered using the above procedure. To use jailbreak functions, you must boot into tethered jailbroken state using step 7. Also there is no need to use the above guide as Dev-Team has released Redsn0w 0.9.6RC15 for untethered jailbreak on all iDevices. It doesn’t require you to boot into tethered jailbroken state using Redsn0w or iBooty etc. Just follow this guide http://bit.ly/lAi8at and jailbreak your iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.3.3 untethered with fully working Cydia on it.
