Fix SIM Card Not Supported Error While Activating Your iPhone with SAM

Here is a quick tip for those who are getting "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported" error while activating their iPhone 4/3GS/3G on iOS 4.x.x using SAM. Thanks to Gti3993 for confirming that the SAMPrefs depends on the original carrier of iPhone, NOT on the ICCID and IMSI of the SIM card. So, with this guide, you can activate your iPhone with ANY unofficial carrier SIM card using SAM. This will also enable fully working Push Notifications and will fix "Cannot Connect to YouTube" error on your iPhone.

iTunes (SIM Card Not Supported)

Steps to Fix SAM: SIM Card Not Does Not Appear to be Supported Error

  1. Navigate to Settings » General » About and look for your MODEL number. In this case, i have iPhone 4 with model number MC608LL and its unlocked using Gevey SIM.
  2. iPhone 4 (Model Number)

  3. Now you need to do little Googling and find out the official carrier to which your iPhone is locked to. In this case, my iPhone 4 is locked at AT&T (United States)
  4. I am assuming that you have already installed SAM on your iPhone. If not then add http://repo.bingner.com repo to Cydia and install SAM on your iPhone. Once installed, navigate to Settings » SAM » Utilities and tap on Revert Lockdown to Stock button. You will see Stockification Success message. If you see Stockification Failure message then it means you have not installed correct version of SAM on your iPhone.
  5. Stockification Success

  6. Now tap on the SAM button on the top-right and then tap on the Method menu. From the list, choose By Bundle Name option.
  7. SAM (Bundle Name)

  8. Now again hit the SAM option on the top-right and then tap on the Bundle menu. In this case, i will be choosing ATT_US as my iPhone is locked to AT&T.
  9. SAM (Choose Carrier)

  10. Similarly navigate to SIM ID menu and choose your SIM ID. If you do not know SIM ID, just choose the first option.
  11. SAM (SIM ID)

  12. Once your Method, Bundle and SIM ID has been correctly configured, tap on More Information menu. You will see ActivationState as Unactivated. Connect your iPhone to your PC or Mac via USB cable and start iTunes.
  13. SAM (Unactivated)

  14. Now iTunes will generate legitimate activation packets for your iPhone. Make sure your PC or Mac is connected to an active internet connection because iTunes will try to authenticate your info with Apple servers. Once done, you will see your ActivationState as WildcardActivated.
  15. SAM (WildcardActivated)

  16. Thats it! Now your iPhone is officially activated. This will not only provide you with an improved battery life but will also enable fully working Push Notifications on your iPhone. You can check your Push Notifications using iPusher app. If for some reason, Push Notifications are not working, use this guide to fix them.

Hi, I’m using Iphone 4 in India on Gevey SIM originally from US and i upgraded to OS 5.1 using iTunes and now i’m getting the above error message, will working on the above steps solve my issue

    •
      Pesmerga4 years, 8 months ago

      Hi,

It is likely that you are now in a currently unsupported baseband of Gevey. Gevey / Ultrasn0w unlockers should never update through iTunes since it will mess up your baseband. If you want to update, you should have updated using a custom firmware in order to preserve your baseband.

      •
        Suruze4 years, 8 months ago

Is there any way out..Please help..I never knew that the upgrade is not supposed to be done

        •
          Pesmerga4 years, 8 months ago

As of now, it seems that there is no available solution yet. Sorry. :( ANy website that claims that you can downgrade baseband is most likely a fake.

Just keep an eye out for Applenberry as they may release a new Gevey for 4.12.01 (iOS 5.1 baseband).

      •
        Suruze4 years, 8 months ago

Is there any possibility that my phone can start working…..It is iphone 4 5.1 and baseband is 4.12.01

        •
          Pesmerga4 years, 8 months ago

Hopefully yes, as long as Gevey or Ultrasn0w supports 4.12 in the future. But can’t really say if they are working on it. Sorry. :(

Your other option is to change the baseband chip of your iPhone 4 with an older one.

(it’s  my brother phone,he took it from somebody else and and we don’t know what sim we should buy. ) does a gevey sim will resolve this issues ?

  •
    flea4 years, 9 months ago

Thanks! It worked. But with a different approach. I inserted the real SIM of the carrier locked iphone then I used the spoof real SIM to SAM. It’ll use the details of your real SIM even if you insert other SIM.

  •
    Davi4 years, 9 months ago

To Follow the instructions above and use SAM, do I leave the gevey on the iPhone or should i take it off and do the steps with only the SIM card on it??

I have an iphone 4 which I had upgraded to 5.0.1 and jailbroken with baseband 4.10.01
This is an iphone locked to a canadian cell provider. I am using it with T-mobile USA using Gevey.

SAM and SAMPrefs revert lockdownd to stock completely messed up my phone.
    1. Now when I connect to itunes with the T-Mobile sim on a Gevey tray, iTunes tells me that this is not a supported SIM.
    2. When I reboot the phone it asks me to activate it then tells me the SIM is not supported.

I am up a creek without a paddle. But blog after blog I’ve read that if I run ‘Stockify’ using SSH, it will undo the revert.

Yet there isn’t a single instruction anywhere on how to actually find and run this program – it IS installed on my phone. So if you’ve successfully run this program, please let me know how.

Otherwise any help on activating this phone without original SIM is appreciated.
    Thanks

having the same problems as many others, my phone was unlocked via SAM on iOS5 and worked no problem, then had some screen issues. Now I have a new LCD and upgraded and re-jailbroke/unlocked on IOS5.0.1, and lost my push, now when trying to re-install/re-activate it won’t activate keep getting the unsupported sim message. I tried googleing for who my phone was locked to, but my model number was available for every cell carrier in Canada, so unfortunately google didn’t get specific enough. I’ve tried all the canadian carriers and still not working, any suggestions would be great! The link patrick provided, doesn’t appear to relate to SAM at all but mentions jailibreaking with corona, but I don’t see what that has to do with SAM and the article doesn’t even mention it. Anyways, sorry for the novel but any help would be amazing as an iphone without push certs is like a blackberry without data – totally useless

Mc133j or any MCxxxJ is Japanese Locked iphone  i noticed a problem with the Softbank Bundle activation To fix
“SIM Card Not Supported” on McxxJ model you need to change the first 6 IMSI numbers to: 440208  .
it’s a bit tricky to change that !1:Deactive and Revert Lockdown to stock .2:Set activation method to (Bundle Name) .3:Softbank_jp .4:Sim Id 44020 .5:More information—Copy sam Details (IMSI+ICCID) to notes.6:Set activation method to (Manual).7:Paste the ICCID WITHOUT MODIFICATION.8:Paste the IMSI WITH CHANGING THE FIRST6 IMSI numbers to: 4402089:Unplug Then connect to itunes you shouldnt see the “SIM Card Not Supported” .10:To have a fully function push i suggest you delete and reinstall the apps needs push like whatsapp, viber…etc.

Thank you Gti399!!! It’s work!!! One thing, for those who don’t get unlock by above steps. Try this,

        1. Set activation method to (Auto Detect)
        2. Go to utilities and “Attempt activation” (black screen appears and just wait)
        3. Connect to iTunes and you’ve got “Unlock” version of your phone!

        Enjoy!!! :D

Hello, can anybody please help me with any suggestions for a sollution for me?

I also get the SIM Card Not Does Not Appear to be Supported Error, when I follow the steps in the original SAM guide on Javox.

So I tried this guide, but still with nog progress. I’m not sure if I’m using the correct bundle name. Maybe I should use the method “by country and Carrier”?

I used the free service of rebelsim to fetch the original provider of my iphone and this are their results:

    iPhone 4 16GB Black (5.0.1) IMEI:
    Serial: 7V0340PAA4S
    Out of Warranty: 2010-10-14
    Sold to country: Sweden
    Carrier: Three Sweden

I’ve jailbroken this iphone to 5.01 and using a Gevey SIM.

Any idea how to get it Wildcardactivated?

    •
      Patrick4 years, 11 months ago

      Hi,

Make sure you are not using Rebel SIM or Gevey SIM interposer while using SAM. It do not matter if your phone has unofficial SIM as long as it is hacktivated. 2ndly, if you are unable to activate using one SIM card, you can use any other SIM card for Wildcard activation. Mostly it is hit and trial type of procedure. Once Wildcard Activated, you can put any other SIM card you want in your iPhone. You can even uninstall SAM. I am still not sure if https://twitter.com/sbingner has posted stockification data for iOS 5.0.1 but SAM is working on iOS 5 for sure.

      •
        Michael4 years, 11 months ago

Hi Patrick, thanks for your reply.

I tried removeing the gevey SIM interposer, but still no luck…

Maybe some of the following remarks can make you or anybody else help me more:

When following the steps every time when I tap Utilities > revert lockdownd to stock, then go back and tap More information: It takes a longer time to get to the next screen. Also ActivationState has no status (nothing there). Then when I connect to Itunes I directly receive the following error: iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occurred (0xE8000065) I only lose this error when I reboot the phone.

After reboot the activationState is “unactivated”, but then connecting to iTunes gives me the Sim not supported error again. (Is this action after the reboot useless now? Because maybe the lockDownd to stock setting is now disabled??)

Also, which bundle name or carrier should I choose when trying method “By Bundle Name” or “By country and Carrier”, because I can’t find the provider “Three” from Sweden.

I hope that there are still some options for me tot get it WildcardActivated.

This week I installed the update of SAM from Cydia. Tried everything in my post above again, but still getting the Sim not supported error.

Is it possible that SAM can’t fake an original SIM of the provider “Three” from Sweden?

not working on ios 5.0.1 iphone 4. will it work with no sim inside?

  •
    Xoph4 years, 11 months ago

Someone please reply. I have an iphone 4 that was jailbroken and running on iOS 4.0. My cousin updated it to iOS 5.0.1 using only itunes and that removed the jailbreak and I couldn’t use any of my apps besides the ones that come with the phone. That also made my sim card unrecognised and I was told to insert a compatible card.
So I did a bit of reading and tried using snowbreeze 2.8 to jailbreak it again but this time the iphone cant even get to springboard. All I’m getting is “Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier maybe used to activate iPhone.”
At the moment I cant even check my model number and all.

      Hi,

In simple words, your cousin screwed your iPhone. Just shoot him because he restored stock iOS 5.0.1 on your unlocked iPhone. What you can do now? You can jailbreak using Redsn0w 0.9.10b3. You tried to jailbreak using Sn0wbreeze but forgot to hacktivate your iPhone. Hacktivation will allow you to bypass the “compatible SIM” screen. Redsn0w will hacktivate ur iPhone by default. What you can NOT do? You can not unlock your iPhone. Yes not even with Gevey SIM. Ultrasn0w is out of question. Why? Because you are on the stock and latest baseband.

    •
      JackLord4 years, 11 months ago

      Hi,

If your phone is blocked by the carrier, there is no way you can unlock it unless you change (or fake) the IMEI number of the phone. Usually phone is blocked by a specific carrier in the country (Not other carriers). So it is better to check your phone by inserting the SIM card of some other carrier. The model you have told is factory unlocked model and there is no need to use SAM to activate it. You can activate it using any SIM card and iTunes unless your IMEI is not blocked by certain carrier.

      @itsabhi1984 Hi,

If iTunes says invalid SIM, you will need to manually select the appropriate carrier under one of the methods besides “Automatic” and click on a SIMID.

      Hope that helps!!

This comment should help you out with finding out to which carrier your iPhone is exactly locked to.

    Diego Arthur5 years ago

    Hello,

I’m having some problems with push notifications. I have an iPhone 4 from Ireland (do not live there), model MC603B (orange uk). I am currently using gevey, and I dont have the original sim card.

I went trought all the steps mentioned here and still get the iTunes error saying that the sim card is not supported.

Here are the steps I made:
    1) Restored my phone to 4.2.1 with iTunes.
    2) Jailbroke with redsn0w, installed cydia.
    3) Started the device and installed SAM, rebooted.
    4) On sam I clicked “Revert Lockdown to Stock” and saw “Stockification Success”.
    5) Inserted Orange_uk as the bundle name.
    6) Opened itunes and got the error. Still ActivationState as Unactivated.

And, at last but not least, thanks for all the great tutorials here in the site.

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

You might want to double check the carrier to which your iPhone is actually locked to. UK carrier locked iPhones does have issues with activation simply because there are just too many carriers to confuse with. :)

  •
    Alan5 years ago

    Hi,

Installed SAM. Got a 1631 error, not a 1651, in the itunes activation process (where it is resyncing to a backup) and have one signal bar and no carrier name (should be O2-UK). This was an ATT locked phone, unlocked through snowbreeze with a custom ipsw and ultrasnow 1.2.4 to iOS 4.3.0 6.15.00 (3GS old bootrom, untethered)). It was wildcard activated before the itunes sync and was set up for ATT as described in your tutorial here, but no change with carrier recognition to O2. Tried the usual re-boot, airplane mode and on/off 3G. No change. Any ideas?

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

Do you mean to say that your O2 SIM isn’t working with your unlocked iP3GS ? Have you tried a different carrier SIM as well to see if the issue still persists ?

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

What about the Modem FW version of your device? If you want an unlock, you need to update your BB to an iPad’s BB first & only then will you be able to unlock your device. SAM only activates your device. Activation & unlocking are 2 separate terms of definition.

For the past two months i tried to use mexican bundles since i though that as my phone is from Mexico the carrier should be a mexican one, but by using the link offered by VV i found out that my iphone is actually locked to Comcel/Colombia. So again thanks to VV for the link and to Pramod for helping my by this thread. Thank you guys beacuse of you my iphone 4 finally works properly.

Unless you have the original AT&T SIM, you cannot spoof it via SAM. Try asking you friends / relatives who might have one. Any legit carrier SIM that comes locked with iPhones will work as long as its from the same carrier.

For those whose IP model is MC131B. I tried to activate by SAM with carriers found through Googles such as: Vodafone UK, O2 UK, O2 Ireland. But it turns out that the carrier that solve the problem is Orange UK. Now I have Activation State is Wildcard Activated.

My problem now is that I still cannot use iMessage and Find My iphone :(.

Find My iPhone has no dependency on SAM whatsoever or the way you activate your device. You need to first set up iMessage, have you done that yet?

I was using Sn0wBreeze 2.7.3 to create hacktivated firmware. Now i understand that its hacktivation is …

Is there any “new” version? That will have working push and normal battery life?

Sorry for this chain of questions. But you are the only one who know how it works.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

As long as you (or someone else whom you know) do not have the legit carrier SIM to officially activate your device via iTunes, using the hacktivation option with SAM / Push Doctor is the only option that you will have.

Mhm, its a very common issue with SAM trying to activate UK carrier locked iPhones. Push Doctor doesn’t have any certs either.

Hi, I’m in 3gs with MC131B which is (from what i found in google) is an UK O2 phone. Can’t activate no matter i do. Any suggestions?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

If you / anyone else has a legit O2 carrier SIM, pop-it in & hook your device to iTunes for official activation. If not, you will need to JB your device.

I bought an iPhone 4 in Barcelona. It has a gevey (unlock SIM card) , it was working fine with my brazilian SIM card until I did the software update on iTunes. Now I can not find out the software’s version numbers, it’s not working anymore and of course … and now it shows up this message ” the SIM card inserted in this iphone does not appear to be supported” … I rang apple and googled endless hours for a solution.
I have no idea what to do next. Should I reset my iphone? Does anybody know what to do? I would love to see my iphone working again!

    Really appreciate your help guys,

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

You need to pop-in the legit carrier SIM to which your phone was locked to (w/o the Gevey ofcourse) & then hook it upto iTunes for activation. If you have updated to iOS 5 via iTunes, your Gevey will not work anymore & therefore you have also lost the unlock.

dude =( ive been trying to activate my iphone 4 (iOS 5, Baseband: 04.10.01, Gevey Sim used to unlock & Jailbroken ofcourse!) and my model is MC603DN & according to google it locked with T-Mobile Germany (tried both SIM ID’s: 26201, 26206)but whatever option i use of SAM (Auto Detect, Spoof SIM to SAM, Activate By Bundle Name, By Country & Carrier) and connect to itunes it tells me ‘Sim Card Not Supported’…=[ Please help me out activating my ip4 i cant use iMessage, Facetime and my push notifications dont work!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Its probably because the SAM bundles might be having issues in activating your carrier locked iPhone. Well you need to be 100% sure to which carrier your iPhone was locked to not via Google, but by asking its previous owner or the carrier itself because there are chances of misinformation on Google & you never know.

Any ideas on? You definitely need a SIM card inserted to confirm if SAM is working or not.

SAM bundles does have issues in activating the UK carrier SIMs. If it doesn’t work for you, stay hacktivated.

    Pramod: thanx a lot mate! i will let u know what happened once i get a O2 sim…take care…

  •
    VV5 years, 1 month ago

Pramod: thank you very much for your help. If you could just answer me these questions as well it will be very appreciated.

    1) do i have to jailbreak with Redsnow or can i also use Snowbreeze? The reason im asking is because ive jailbreaked with Snowbreeze and SAM doesnt seem to b working when i use O2 UK credentials.

    2) I found someone in the UK with an iphone who is going to send me a duplicate of his sim so i can activate my phone. Does that duplicate have to be used at least once on his phone before i use it on mine or it doesnt matter if he uses it or not?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

      1. SAM works independent of how you JB your device. So if your going to JB your device via Redsn0w, SAM will still behave in the same manner. This is not the jaailbreak’s issue as SAM has problems in activating O2 carrier locked iPhones.
      2. Not necessarily, but that SIM should also belong to an O2 carrier locked iPhone.

    Thanks Promod.
So for the time being I can use it as an ipod only. Hmm…. I must wait for new version of Ultrasnow.
well, atleast it is “officially activated now” thanks, SAM.

I mean, I was able to unlock officially (with SAM and Itunes) my Iphone4 running IOS5 with base band 04.11.08 (sorry for mistake in previous post).
But it shows SIM failiure with my Airtel INDIA SIM. any solution please?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

You cannot unlock your device using SAM. Its used only to get your iPhone officially activated via iTunes in case you did not have the legit carrier SIM. SAM is not an unlock solution & since you updated your BB w/o preserving, you have lost the unlock & hence the Gevey failure.

  •
Joby Joseph5 years, 1 month ago

THanks. I was able to activate my Iphone 4 32 GB locked with Orange UK using SAM. but it doesnt recognise the Airtel India SIM which I am using now. what to do now?

OS-IOS5 (accedently upgraded without preserving baseband)
    Base band 04.08.11

    Some body help me please..

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Nothing. It doesn’t read your 3rd party carrier because your trying to unlock your device on a Gevey that doesn’t support the 04.11.08 BB at the moment. You have already lost the ability to unlock your device via the Gevey SIM.

ok so im quite sure that the original carrier is O2 UK. So if i ask a friend to send me an O2 card from the UK and i insert it in the phone it will be activated? Or does it have to be a specific O2 card specially for Iphones? Am i making any sense here? :)

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Yes, it will & as long as that O2 SIM also did come locked with your friend’s / anyone else’s iPhone. Not just any O2 SIM.

    iPhone 4
    Version: 4.3.3 (8j2)
    Carrier: Carrier 10.
    Model: MC603B
Modem Firmware: 03.10.01 (Unlocked with GeveySim)

Has anyone with a phone similar to mine managed to activate with SAM?
I believe the phone is from the UK locked on Orange or O2 or Vodafone and im from Cyprus.
I tried the Auto Detect, By Bundle Name and by Country and Carrier methods but none of them worked. Please help me!

Am i supposed to restart the phone every time i change carrier in SAM?
Do the sim card and/or Gevey sim have to be inside or not?

Guys please help me cause im going nuts here! I also tried Push Doctor but that keeps getting stuck while downloading or installing.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Push Doctor doesn’t have any certs to activate your device. You need to wait until it fills up, so using SAM is your only hope. Try to spoof your friend’s / someone else’s legit carrier SIM card using SAM to get it activated.

  •
    vic5 years, 1 month ago

Same problem as @Jonas Eriksson – I have no idea what country and carrier the phone came from.
In Auto mode, the phone stays “Searching” for ~10 minutes and then falls back to “No service”. Maybe iTunes 10.5 quits trying after first error 1651.

    Do I have a change to activate/hacktivate?
    Thanks!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

SAM doesn’t unlock your device if that’s what your were expecting it to do. It only activates your device officially with iTunes for your push notifications to work in case you do not have the legit carrier SIM.

  •
Jonas Eriksson5 years, 1 month ago

I have no clue to which carrier is the original one, since I bought it used. According to a google search of the model number, it was probably sold here i Sweden, so I tried with all different carriers we have. Still, iTunes gives me the “SIM card not supported” message.

Is there a way to make SAM iterate through all listed carriers around the world? Might the reason for SAM not working for me be that I would have to reboot the iPhone between the manual change of carrier, or should it work the way I did: disconnecting the phone, changing the carrier and SIMID, and then connecting it again?

    Any help is greatly appreciated!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

SAM does that in the Auto-Detect mode. If SAM doesn’t work for you, you might want to try Push Doctor instead.

you mean to say.. pop in th elegit SIM and deactivate it via SAM and connect it to itunes n later put in Airtel???
if i do that do i still need ultrasn0w? can i delete it if i follow what u said?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Na, leave it like that for now. I meant after de-activation, reboot your device. Once your on the Emergency Call screen, pop-in the legit SIM & connect it to iTunes. You needn’t hacktivate your custom IPSWs as well.

  •
    Prasoon5 years, 1 month ago

okay i got it. i spoofed my original Softbank sim to SAM and got the wildcard activated. n just now got my imessage activated too. thanks man.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

If you actually had the legit carrier SIM, all you had to do was to De-activate your device via SAM, pop-in the SIM & connect it to iTunes. :D

    Hi,

Informative tutorial. Need your help on my 3GS device.

    Current os: iOS 5(9A334)
    Device: 3GS
    Model: MC133J
    Baseband: 06.15.00

My original carrier was soft-bank and my new carrier is Airtel.
I hacktivated my device by redsn0w and unlocked it via ultrasn0w.
Now, i am able to use my device but iMessage does not work ( stuck at waiting for activation).

Will this installing SAM method be applicable in my situation?
    Please advice.

    •

Yep, SAM will get your device officially activated. It does have issues with the SoftBank bundles, but you can try & see if it works.

Hi! I just tried upgrading to iOS 5 on Iphone 4, originally from AT&T, unlocked with Gevey SIM, and in the end it got stuck on the “SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported” message. I’m not in the US anymore and can’t get the AT&T card in here, and also can’t install SAM since now it’s completely locked until I insert an AT&T card. Please help if you have any idea on how to solve this without the AT&T card.. Thanks!

You need to explicitly jailbreak your device with Redsn0w to get it across the activation screen.

Try making the IMSI start with 440208 (change the first 6 digits of what it generates to that). That should probably work. SAM does have issues with the SoftBank bundles.

    Andrea5 years, 1 month ago

I have a really big problem, to activate SAM you should know which was the original carrier, but the thing is that i don’t know that because I buy it from another person. The only thing that I know is that it was purchased en 2009 in United States (I don’t live there). I already install SAM and I tried with At&t but it doesn’t work. So I decided to erase SAM and hacktivate again with redsn0w, but now, i can’t install push doctor and my battery runs out really fast!

    What should I do??

I have an Iphone 3g with IOS 4.1

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

If it was indeed from the US, then SAM would auto-activate your device w/o the need for an extra AT&T SIM. Unfortuantely if you what you told is true, then your iPhone is definitely not from the US. Did you check the activation state of SAM before you confirmed it as not working? What was it? Also, why can’t you install Push Doctor?

    •

The iPhones were never locked to T-Mobile in the first place. You need to choose the carrier to which your iPhone was actually locked to & not the carrier to which your currently unlocked to.

Use Anethema’s PushDoctor instead of SAM to get your iPhone activated. Read here http://bit.ly/k2vSGU. Make sure that you uninstall SAM ONLY after using PushDoctor activation & not anytime before that.

    Hello Pramod,

    iPhone 4.3.3
    Model: MC605BZ
carrier: Claro, Oi, VIVO, Tim (I don’t know which of the 3 use)

I am living in Costa Rica, and I just wanted to fixed my facebook, ebuddy, etc push notifications, so I tried installing SAM. It seem to not work so I decided to remove it from Cydia. Then when the cell phone restarted, it was saying that I “needed to insert a valid SIM Card”.

I got a AT&T SIM Card and the cellphone got out of the blocking screen, but still when I switched it to the Costa Rican SIM Card with my Gevey, the cellphone got back to the locking screen saying that I “need to get a valid SIM…connect to itunes…”

So I installed the SAM again so it did let me go through with my SIM Card and I got the signal again, but at the time to connect it to itunes, it shows me the message “The SIM Card in this iPhone does not appear to be supported”

After following all of the steps of choosing the right Method, Bundle and SIM ID, it still does not work.

Can you help me out please?

I forgot to mentioned… as you can see I am not a technician neither I have much contact with this “technology” I just need the steps to make my costa rican cellphone SIM Card work and also that my iphone sync again with itunes as it usually did.

    thanks

If you have now used an AT&T SIM to get your iP4 out of the Emergency Call screen, your good to go !! AT&T being your legit carrier has already activated all the necessary push certs on your iP4. Did you hook your iP4 with iTunes with the AT&T SIM inside? That’s how you go it out in the first place right? If you haven’t, perform this step as well. What does SAM show as the Activated State for your device right now?

Thanx for all those great tutorials man.!

Just one question, i just bought an iphone 4 (MC603E/A) and i’ve been following every step in this, and in other tutorials about SAM utilities, but nothing seems to work. i have gevey pro and i can’t get my push notifications working :S

Running 4.3.3 with gevey pro + Redsnow r16 jailbreak.. :S

Remove the Gevey & pop in just the SIM with the official SIM tray slot like you would normally do if you did not have a Gevey in the first place. Now, retry SAM & check its Activation State. What does it read as?

First off, SAM bundle for the Softbank carrier does have issues in activating Japanese iPhones. Therefore, the only way to get yourselves officially activated is by using cmdshft’s PushDoctor. Now for PushDoc to work fine, you need to wait until the counter at his site http://bit.ly/onPCps for unique certs refills first. Only then will it be able to activate your carrier officially. Alternatively, you can spoof iTunes into giving you a legit push cert by using SAM to spoof a legit SIM i.e if you still have your official Softbank SIM.

after i get that message do i restore the iphone?
using a gevey sim in india,carrier-airtel.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Read the message first !! It says that it isn’t able to activate your iP4 officially via iTunes. So you might want to resort back to hacktivation itself unless your have the legit SIM. It never talks anything about a restore of any kind at all.

  •

      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

If you by any chance have the legit SIM to which your iP4 was originally locked to, revert your lockdownd to stock & use it to activate via iTunes. If not, you might want to read this http://bit.ly/k7B3qN because it looks like your using a Gevey SIM.

Have an i4 16gb, MC603B, running 4.3.3 on bb 4.10.01,locked to Vodafone Ireland, unlocked to Meteor Ireland using Gevey Sim and JB using RedSn0w……Heres my problem, im hoping someone can help….!

I want to activate my i4 so that i can use facetime and sort the battery drainage issue…. i installed SAM and tried the process above but ended up in restore mode and had to re-jb to get going again….

Can i run SAM and hackivate with the Gevey installed or do i need a Vodafone ireland sim and if at all possible could someone provide me with some sort of guide about what i need to do to get this done properly….

    Thanks guys

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Yes, you can use SAM to sort out the battery issue that your facing due to the hacktivation. For the Facetime issue, since your using a Gevey, you need to follow a completely different approach mentioned here http://bit.ly/k7B3qN to get it up & running.

Keep your iP2G hacktivated & then use cmdshft’s PushDoctor to get your notifications up & running.
Alternatively, you can spoof iTunes into giving you a legit push cert by using SAM to spoof a legit SIM which in your case, you already have the legit AT&T official SIM.

Tgis is very very frustrating :(

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Lol !! If you were not around the jailbreaking scene since the beginning, then you should know that PushDoctor was the only way to get your iPhone’s officially activated when SAM wasn’t even around at that time. A lil respect to cmdshft would be great for the work he & other devs put into to make our lives much easier & not by calling it a scam. The certs does get refilled on a timely basis. As he has stated in his site, cmdshft doesn’t control their refill either. So, there’s no point in getting frustrated if neither SAM nor PushDoctor worked for you. All you can do right now is wait.

  •
    MJay5 years, 3 months ago

Yeah, it is a drawback, as i’ve been waiting for the past month or so, but still no avail.

I hope SAM finds a fix for this ASAP.

  •
    MJay5 years, 3 months ago

    Thanks for teh reply.

Like there’s a chance in PushDoctor ever working again. Better-yet, my luck buying an iphone in my country and it turns out from the UK which SAM doesn’t fix. lol.

Is SAM working on fixing this issue with the UK Carriers?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Hope so. Also, PushDoctor does indeed work as this was the tool that was always used when SAM wasn’t around. The only drawback with PushDoctor is that you need to wait for the certs to refill.

Hey, I’m trying to activate it via SAM & itunes
    iphone 3gs, model MC133B
Now it says either Ireland O2 or UK O2 for that model

in SAM when i choose the method by bundle name i have (O2_Germany, O2_prepaid_UK, O2_Tesco_UK, O2_UK, O2_cz, O2_ie) i’ve tried them all but none of them worked after i connected it to itunes, i still get the same SIM card error, and the ActivationState stays Unactivated.

When i choose the method By Country and Carrier, i choose Ireland and get (Clever Communications ltd, Digifone mm02 ltd, Ericom, Meteor Mobile Communication, Vodafone Ireland plc) i tried them all none worked. If i choose United Kingdom i get a long list, but i choose the O2 UK ltd. and that doesn’t work either.

So i’m not sure if the model MC133B is locked to O2 carrier.
Any help here would be appreciated. Thanks.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Well it then looks like SAM bundles are still having issues with the manual activation methods for UK carriers. If SAM doesn’t work for you, use PushDoctor http://bit.ly/k2vSGU instead from cmdshft.

You have chosen an incorrect bundle via SAM. Choose the right bundle name for that specific carrier to which your iPhone was locked to officially.

It is not possible to find the carrier details of your iPhone merely by looking at its model number. You might want to contact the seller instead to know the details related to any such information about the iPhone.

Use PushDoctor, Read http://bit.ly/k2vSGU. SAM bundles does have issues with the UK carriers.

      •
        NYK5 years, 3 months ago

        Hi Parmod,

As you mentioned that UK carriers have problem with iphone activation and I should try PushDoctor. I tried that thrice and every time it kept sitting on waiting for Pushcerts and nothing happened for hours. Eventually, I had to repair cydia as it was stuck on loading screen.

So I decided to test SAM yet again and try my luck. Here how it went, there was something peculiar when I selected O2_Prepaid and Tesco_UK from carrier bundles. Have a look here and guide me what to do about it. For now I hacktivated my iPhone4

        1) Vodafone_UK 23415 – The sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported.
        2) Tmobile_UK 23430 – The sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported.
        3) Orange_UK 23433 – The sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported.
        4) O2_UK 23410 – The sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported.
        5) Tesco_UK 23410_GID1-0AFFFF – There is a probleb with your iphone. The iphone you connected maybe damaged and cannot be activated for servce. We recommend you to visit your nearest Apple store for more info.
        6) O2_prepaid 23410_GID1-99FFFF – There is a probleb with your iphone. The iphone you connected maybe damaged and cannot be activated for servce. We recommend you to visit your nearest Apple store for more info.
        7) Hutchinson_uk 23420 – The sim card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported.

Yes, that’s because you need to wait until the Push Certs counter fills up here http://bit.ly/onPCps. Once its filled, only then will installing Push Doctor work to get your unique certs.

  •
    Saumil5 years, 3 months ago

Pramod, Push doctor has been out of certificates for quite some time and dont see them coming soon..

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

You need to wait until it fills up again. Can do nothing about it other than to wait for the counters to refill. Keep an eye on the counter here http://bit.ly/onPCps.

  •
    Neo5 years, 3 months ago

is there another way,,because this mean i have to wait for certificate ,and i couldn’t by one because my country isn’t available in Pay pl

Oops !! Sorry wrong info. Read this http://bit.ly/onPCps. This is what I meant.

You have got all the terms mixed up. Are you using SAM or not? Also, are you talking about activating your iPhone from the Emergency Call screen? Because SAM never does that as its only for Push Notifications its used & nothing else.

  •

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

You might have to live with the Hacktivation as SAM does have issues with activating Softbank iP4s. You can also try PushDoc if SAM did no good. Read this http://bit.ly/k2vSGU.

    1. whats the difference between activated state and wildcard activated state?

    2. i did not get itunes screen saying set up iphone..

    3. it was showing sim card not supported,……….

    4. then i checked it was changed to mismatched ICCID

    5. i reinstalled SAM

    6. i had that locked screen with itunes logo

7.i took out the sim the screen that says slide to unlock came back

8.then i reinstalled SAM , but as soon as i insert the sim it gets back to itunes locked emergency screen

    9. then i repeated i dont remember how many times .. but finally its in activated state (not in wildcard activated)

    10. itunes has not given any such option as set up phone

    11. the push notifications were already working because i changed DNS in wifi settings to 8.8.8.8

    is it not hactivated anymore?
by the way it happened before too later the state changed to mismatchedICCID

    HELP!!!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

No, its is not officially activated & right now your state is basically the same like how it was prior to the SAM installation. Read this http://bit.ly/mDpDwr & try to activate your iPhone. Also first ask yourselves to which carrier was your iPhone initially locked to.

    Hi,

how can i find the original carrier of my 3GS iphone. the model # MC132FB i have googled the model # and i get results for 2 carriers in Luxembourg however it seems to be not working. is there a way to find the actual original carrier?

    thanks

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

No, its impossible to find out to which carrier was your iPhone locked to just by looking at the model number. The model number only signifies the country of sale, color, model of the iPhone. There is no hard & fast rule that will allow you to zero-in on the carrier to which it was locked to. You need to ask the person who sold the iPhone to you in the first place. Also at times, certain model numbers are available in different countries as well.

hi i have iphone 4 model mc319ll but i cant activate i tried activate with sam and i bought an original sim card of at&t and not have lucky please help me

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

If you already have an official AT&T SIM, you don’t have to use SAM in the first place. SAM is ONLY for those who don’t have an official SIM to activate their devices legitimately via iTunes.

  •
    newbie5 years, 4 months ago

I have the mc608ll type ‘locked’ to AT&T but using gavey sim for another provider. I thought ‘maybe it would be prudent to use the SAM fix on my phone’ BAD MOVE!! If you have a US AT&T locked-to phone, try your very best to use Gavey Sim; if your phone is working already with Gavey DON’T fix what’s not broken (like I did). You are warned.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

That’s right !! SAM is only for those users who do not have the official carrier SIM to which their iP4’s were locked to. That was the sole purpose of SAM always.

  •
    Danny5 years, 4 months ago

Hello i don’t know nothing about push notifications but it doesn’t seem to work for me. I activated my phone perfectly with Sam. Help? What will fix it?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

If SAM shows that you have already been Wildcard Activated, then SAM has worked just fine & so must your Push Notifications as well. Give it a reboot & also make sure you have no social networking apps installed. If you have them installed, uninstall, reboot and check for Push before you reinstall them back again.

May seem strange, but my iphone was not working after following this procedure for several times until I started to delete the apps that use notifications, I didn’t have to delete them all ( I deleted facebook, google+, and twitter ) when a message popup in my screen telling that the message to activate Facetime may be charged, I tapped Ok and iPush worked fine, reinstalled the deleted apps and everything is working now, facetime, mobile me ( find my iphone ) and push notificaction in my apps…
    Thx

    •

Probably not. You need to call up the official carrier to which your iPhone was locked to. If in case you don’t know which one was that, ask the person from whom you brought the iPhone from.

There may not be however the seller claims that it does the job it’s worth a shot. Will push doctor improve battery life? If theydo the same thing why is same preferred?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

Believe me both gets the thing done for you. If you want to save your battery and if SAM dint work for you, just use PushDoc instead. All you need in the end is a valid genuine Push cert from Apple & both gets it done for you.

  •
    Jacob5 years, 4 months ago

Surprisingly not. Phone is fully functional after the 6.15 bb flash. Though i seem to be experiencing a poor battery life and inactive push functionality, yet my GPS and WIFI work flawlessly. Im waiting on a universal sim card, if that doesnt work i will resort to push doctor but SAM seemed like a great solution as it is legitimate.

If anyone with an MC131b iphone has solved this problem i would appreciate their feedback.

    Regards

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

PushDoc is legitimate as well. Before even SAM came, PushDoc was the only option. They pretty much do the same thing for you. And there is no such thing as a universal SIM card which if you think will work on every iPhone, your mistaken. :D

If SAM wasn’t successful in getting your Push activated, use PushDoctor instead by following this guide http://bit.ly/k2vSGU. I hope your not stuck at the Emergency Call screen.

    ya,
probably not the best option then . . . Thanks for pointing all that out. I don’t really see any other option to unlock it at this point. I’ve gone back to “square one” several times. Tried everything I can imagine and absolutely everything Google has to offer.

Once again, any suggestions from anyone out there would be appreciated. I am thinkin I may just be out luck until I return to Japan.

    Thanks all.

      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

Have you tried a fresh Pwnage custom restore as well? Are you sure that the SIM your using works on other iPhones as well? Have you tried a SIM from a different carrier as well? Is your AT&T card still valid? Because I see nothing else is wrong here with your iPhone.

  •
    Drew5 years, 4 months ago

Yes, I’m sure I’m on 4.2.1 with 5.13.04 BB. I have been using Pwnage to create the custom IPSW. Those are the stats my phone displays. I am at a loss. I cannot figure out why it refuses to load service. I have been at it for more than a week now and have exhausted every resource I know of. That is why I am considering updating the BB, try a new Pwnage package . . . I have been reading that the iPad BB is unlockable. Any suggestions?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

If you want to loose your GPS forever & face overheating issues in addition with rapid battery drainage for the rest of your iPhone’s life, you can very well go ahead with the iPad BB upgrade option. :D

I have ip4 locked to o2 uk, i have i have ran redsnow, cydia, installed SAM as above followed EVERYTHING i am in USA and have tmobile sim, sim has been cut but all i get is “no sim installed” message, help!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

If your thinking that you can unlock your iP4 using SAM, then you are mistaken. Unlocking the iP4 is currently possible only by using a Gevey SIM interposer. SAM is (& will always be) only for the official activation of an iPhone and has nothing to do with an unlock.

  •
    Jacob5 years, 4 months ago

Thanks Pramod for the prompt reply. I realise it wont give me the exact carrier though a country would help narrow things down a bit. Its interesting that you mentioned Argentina, can i ask how you came to that conclusion? I will try some Argentinian carriers and see if that works. As far as i know that model number suggests UK or IE.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

Simple !! Google told me so !! :D

  •
    Drew5 years, 4 months ago

    Yes,
it would seem that I was misunderstanding the point of SAM. Thank you for your help.
I hope you don’t mind me asking your readers; does anyone see where I am going wrong with the unlock? I would appreciate any input from anyone.

As stated above; Currently running 4.2.1 on 5.13.04 BB, jailbroken using Pwnage, loaded with Ultras0w.

The thing refuses to load service. Under setting>General>About> it registers the Carrier as AT&T 9.0, but shows Network Not Available. When I re-boot or come out of airplane mode it will search for a signal but never finds one.

Again, any input or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I am on verge of trying to upgrade the BB in order to try another packaged jailbreak.

    Thanks.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

Are you sure that your iPhone details are right? Because it seems either you/someone has already preserved the BB at 05.13.04 thus making it an unlockable BB for Ultrasn0w. If you were running a stock iOS version of the 4.2.1, you should be on 05.15.04 instead. Verify them once again and never make the mistake of upgrading your BB to an iPad’s BB either.

  •
    Drew5 years, 4 months ago

    Pramod,
    Thanks for all the work.

I’m having a little bit of trouble getting either of SIM cards to activate with SAM. I have a 3G, locked on Softbank from Japan. Currently running 4.2.1 on 5.13.04 I am the original owner with the original SIM and an AT&T SIM I want to use.

I have jailbroken the phone using Pwnage, then ran Redsn0w to deactivate, installed SAM etc as the instructions above.

I have been able to get stockification success, and SAM shows that I am wildcard activated. But I I am still not getting service. iTunes recognizes the phone and will let me restore from a back-up, sync etc, but wont activate it. I have tried automatic, bundle, country and carrier.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks in advance.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

Seems like you have mistaken the terms activation & unlocking. SAM does not activate your unofficial SIM (or unlock). It only activates your iP3G officially with iTunes making your iP3G think that your having the official carrier SIM (to which your iP3G was originally locked) inserted into it to so as to skip the Emergency Call screen after a fresh restore. SAM gets your PushNotifications and effectively reduces the battery drainage issues that people have after custom IPSW restores. You need to unlock your iPhone in order to be able to use a 3rd party carrier SIM on your iPhone.

  •

I think i still need to update HOST file in order to do the restore to lower 4.X

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

You definitely need to point iTunes to Cydia’s server from within your hosts file because your SHSH blobs are stored on Cydia and not on Apple’s servers. :D

  •
    Sergey5 years, 4 months ago

I have had THIS iPhone jailbroken with 4.1 before and hope Cydia is storing SHSH for that OS for me. At least I think it did dispaly multiple OS names on top. I’ll check it after work and try following this

    http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=7557
    or
    http://jaxov.com/2011/03/how-to-fix-itunes-3194-shsh-blobs-error-while-downgrading-firmware/

Essentially, even if you do not save blobs yourself on your HDD, Cydia might do it for you, and I’m going to rely on that.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

You need not do either. All you got to do is if you have jailbroken your iPhone on 4.3.3, fire up Cydia and have a look at the top portion of Cydia’s homepage. That will list you all the SHSH blobs saved for your iPhone’s iOS versions. Tiny Umbrella is another alternative to the same that requires no jailbreaking.

  •
    Sergey5 years, 4 months ago

Pramod, thank you for the response, but it makes no sense to advise something that I should have done in the past. I’ve got to work with what I have, i.e. not saved SSH blob. I do have another phone 3G running 3.0.1 which I do backup, but this is it. My 3GS is on 6.15 and 4.3.3 at the moment. I’m looking for workaround to downgrade to 4.1 or 4.2.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

For an iP3GS and any version of the iPhone model above that, there is no workaround to get yourself on a lower version without the help of saved SHSH blobs.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

As I have stated in my earlier comment, nothing is possible (restore/upgrade) w/o a saved SHSH blob. May it be any iOS version < the latest one that Apple signs right now which is iOS 4.3.3.

  •
    Sergey5 years, 4 months ago

Pramod, no unfortunately I have no SSH blobs saved. Is there a chance to restore to 4.2 without it? If so, please let me know which one. Also, what is the difference between activated and unactivated downloads from the link (if it matters in my case).

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

Nope, if you haven’t saved them, then there is no way to get your iPhone down to iOS 4.2.1. An activated IPSW is for those who do not have the official SIM that came locked with their iPhones so that they can skip the Emergency Call screen w/o the need for one. Unactivated is for those who have the official SIM & so they can activate their iPhones legitimately w/o the need for Hacktivation.

  •
    Sergey5 years, 4 months ago

Pramod, thank you. Can you direct me to 4.2 CUSTOM IPSW that does work for sure. Appreciate it.

For some reason after upgrading to 4.3.3 with 6.15 on my 3GS I had failure trying to restore to this IPSW:
    iPhone 3GS (iPhone2,1_4.2.1_8C148a_Restore.ipsw)
    Link (http://jaxov.com/2010/11/download-ios-4-2-final-for-iphone-4-3gs-3g-ipod-touch-4g-3g-2g-ipad/)

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

If your on an iPad’s BB, you cannot restore/update to any future/earlier versions of the iOS by using Apple’s stock IPSW files even if you had the SHSH blobs saved for them. You’ll always need to go down the Custom IPSW restore road. Do you have the SHSH blobs saved for your iOS 4.2.1 on Cydia? If so you may download the custom version from here http://bit.ly/k1DeYH.

  •
    Sergey5 years, 4 months ago

I’ve been waiting for the unlock for 5.14, but no luck, so I’ve decided to unlock with 6.15 upgrade. So, I’ve done redsn0w jailbreak and then unlock. However, there are 2 issues. I was using redsn0w with 4.1 since 4.3.3 was not recognized in the beginning of the process (when you click Browse and then select 4.3.3 IPSW file it does not see it), so I’ve done jailbreak with 4.1 and the restored via iTunes to custom 4.3 (I COULD NOT restore to 4.1 or 4.2 CUSTOM via iTunes, failure). Finally, I’m running on 4.3.3 with Tmobile SIM. Everything is great, except for battery drainage. So, I install SAM, follow the process and then it DOES show WILDCARD ACTIVATED, BUT … there was NEVER a message to activate iPhone with iTunes even when I do use activation reset process… AND iPusher does not work either. So, I see here messages about Wildcard not showing, bit it DOES show, and still issue with battery drainage. I get to about 70% from 95% for 6 hours of inactivity, which in my book is alot comparing to my current 3G (3 years old). I do have WiFi on, but all of the processes are OFF (SBSSetting installed). And again, I do compare 3G with WIfi on and 3GS with Wifi on side by side. Please, advise.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

You never really get a dedicated message to activate your iPhone via iTunes. SAM does that for you automatically. To see how you can save your battery life on iOS 4.3.3, follow this guide http://bit.ly/mootZv

SAM is not a utility for unlocking. It is only to activate your iPhone officially with iTunes to get your Push Notifications up & running. Your T-Mobile isn’t working because your iPhone is still locked.

Hello anyone knows which operator is this one MC605LE
iPhone 32 GB and it says “carrier 10.0”

    Thank you very much

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

Its impossible to find the carrier to which your iPhone was locked to just by knowing the model number or as a matter of fact any available details from your iPhone itself. All it conveys is the country of sale of that specific iPhone, the capacity, version & color. Also in most cases, iPhones with the same model specs are sold across different countries. In your case, its locked to an Argentinian carrier.

  •

Seems to be a lengthy discussion. I have spent countless days trying to nail this.

I have a model MC131B which as previously stated is locked to either O2 uk or ie. I have tried countless carriers from both uk and ireland yet i still cannot activate it. Can anyone shed some light on whether or not other carriers sell o2 mobiles with their own lock placed over the top?

    Thanks

Leonel Lage5 years, 4 months ago

Man, i’m reaaly pissed off about this manual. It’s the 2nd attempt and once again i’ve to jailbreak my i4 again. Cause, when at the end, i quit, and try to uninstall SAM, my iphone goes back to “insert a valid sim card to activate”. So, all the tweaks, everything again. Choosin the carrier from the list doesn’t work. I’m sure it’s from vodafone uk, ia lso have the card but don´t have the pin. So, in SAM it just doesn’t work for me.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 4 months ago

If your stuck at the Emergency Call screen, all you had to do was popping in your official SIM that came locked with your iPhone and connect to iTunes. It’ll then officially activate your iPhone with Apple and will skip the Emergency Call screen. Also, if SAM is not able to get your Push activated, use PushDoctor instead by following this guide http://bit.ly/k2vSGU.

Are you getting a carrier name after the unlock? Wildcard Activated shows that your iPhone is officially activated already. Make sure you have run Ultrasn0w as well to complete the unlock.

  •
    R_1235 years, 5 months ago

helllo, my model is MC603C.. i cant seem to unlock it, and its making me go crazy, i dont know the original carrier! its iphone 4, 16 GB!!!
im trying everything, nothing is working! does that mean i cant get it fixed any other way? even if i update it! but i guess i cant update it if i cant even get it connected to itunes!

    •

i mean i cant activate it! is it unlocked!

      •
        Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Unfortunately, its impossible to determine whether your iPhone was locked to a carrier or not from the model number alone. To check whether its locked or not, you can simply pop in any 2 different SIM’s belonging to 2 different carriers to see if they are getting detected and your able to make calls. If yes, you have a factory unlocked iPhone. If not, your is a locked one & seems to be a Canadian iPhone.

    Hi!

I have an Iphone 3gs 4.3.3. I am going to spend some time outside of the country where I bought my phone so I decided to unlocked it. I want to be able to receive notifications but I don’t need to activate the phone. Can I do that using SAM or Push Doctor?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Yes Oscar, you can definitely do it with the help of SAM/PushDoc. But since you have the official SIM to which the iP3GS was locked to, you need not use them as that SIM will help you in activating your iPhone officially via iTunes. By this method, your notifications/Push will work the best.

      •
        Oscar5 years, 5 months ago

I tried to do it but it did not work. Btw, I’m using a sim card I bought in the country I’m visiting and not my original card. What should I do? Should I activate it with my original sim card and then switch it with my local card?

        •
          Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Yes. On the Emergency Call screen (in case you get one after a restore), activate it by simply popping it in and connecting it to iTunes (make sure you don not tick the Hacktivate option while creating the Custom IPSW). If no restore is involved, you need not do anything because your just replacing your original with a 3rd party SIM. (Since Push is already activated by your original SIM.)

          •
            Oscar5 years, 5 months ago

It worked with iPush Test but not iPusher. Why would that be?

Doesn’t matter. At times they are glitchy. You need not worry as long as you have your notifications working just fine. :)

    Help!!!

I’m owned an Iphone 32gb Model MC605FD, I do have some issues trying to activated using SAM. Didn’t work with the automatic selection. I don’t pretty sure about witch Carrier and country was locked to originally.

    Any help!!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

It is impossible to determine to whcih carrier was it locked to from the model number alone. You’ll need to contact the person who sold it to you to know the exact carrier to which it was locked to. From the model number, what I can deduce is that its an iP4 32GB sold in either Liechtenstein, Austria or Switzerland.

Hi there, amazing posts, but just have a problem with a brand new iphone, the model is mc604y and it doesn’t appear anywhere but a russian webpage that says that this model is locked… Could you please help me out? Thnx!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Its appearing on the Spanish Apple store as iPhone 4 – White – 16GB.
Its impossible to know whether your iPhone 4 was locked to a carrier service or not from the model number alone. It only signifies the country of sale of the iPhone. Pop in 2 different SIM’s of any carrier to see if its able to read the networks on both of them. If yes, your factory unlocked & if not, your locked to a Spanish network.

As long as your SIM is from the carrier that officially locked your iPhone, No. Your only way out is Hacktivation.

If Push Still Not Working With Status=(WildcardActivated) and you are on prepaid sim (example GOPhone AT&T)You need this fix:
1: Turn on wifi and go to Safari.
    2: Type http://www.unlockit.co.nz
    3:Custom APN
    4:Choose your SIM CARD Carrier
    5:Creat Profile
    6:Install APN Carrier Settings
    7:Go Home
    8:Settings
    9:Airplane On
    10:AirPlan Off
This Fix IS NOT the only Fix for the push Notification but it might be helpful.

    iphone 3gs
    model number: mc133j

i tried to activate via SAM (bundle) and auto detect but itunes still wont recognize the sim and i don’t have the original sim…

    what else can i do?

  •
    liz5 years, 5 months ago

i have gotten itunes to recognize my phone and it says “welcome to your new iphone: lets get started.” the only problem is, my phone is using a t-mobile sim card because that is my carrier. which means that when i enter my number to activate my phone it does not recognize it since it is not an at&t number. what do i do??

    •
      Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Liz, your iPhone details please. (Seems like your having an iPhone 2G) iTunes asks you this to activate the AT&T SIM and not the T-Mobile SIM. Incase you have an AT&T SIM lying around, go ahead and pop it in and continue with the activation screen.

      •
        Liz5 years, 5 months ago

yes, iphone 2g on 3.1.3 (jailbroken with redsn0w) model #:A1203

i went ahead and used an at&t sim card. now itunes is giving me a few other options “i am existing at&t customer”, “i am a new at&t wireless customer”, “i am a at&t business customer”. all of these options ultimately lead me to a) starting a new plan b) entering an existing at&t number which i do not have because i am a tmobile customer.

        what next?

        •
          Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

For official activation of your iPhone 2G, you’ll need to use SAM. Follow this guide http://bit.ly/mDpDwr to get yourself officially activated. (Its the same for all iDevices irrespective of the iOS/iPhone versions.)

i already had installed and used SAM as the directions you linked me to described. afterwards i was faced with the SIM error which i was able to bypass by using the instructions given in this article. but then after all this i’m facing the problems i have told you in my previous two comments. about itunes asking me to set up my phone with a plan/at&t number.

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

I’m guessing your still having your AT&T SIM inside your iP2G? If so, remove it out and put in your T-Mobile inside to get started.

          •
            Liz5 years, 5 months ago

What is the status of SAM? Does it show Wildcard Activated or something else ?

          •
            Liz5 years, 5 months ago

it says “unactivated” still. before using SAM i tried using Push Doctor which did not work. i uninstalled Push Doctor when using SAM in case there was some sort of interference issue. still no luck. i have no idea why neither will work with my phone. i have also reread the instructions several times to make sure i’m doing everything exactly as instructed.

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Did you connect your iPhone to iTunes after the Revert Lockdownd To Stock option to get it Wildcard Activated? (Do not put in any SIM while doing this) PushDoc is only for PushNotifications, not for official activation.
If non of this worked for you, revert SAM to its initial Factory Activated state by toggling it back ON.

          •
            Liz5 years, 5 months ago

okay so i kept my sim card out completely and selected “manual” instead of auto detect for carrier and now my activation state says “activated” instead of “wildcard activated.” i tried the ipusher app and my push notifications are still not working. i then followed this thread (http://jaxov.com/2011/05/push-notifications-not-working-on-ios-4-3-3-after-using-sam-how-to-fix/) but unfortunately, push is still not working.

            1. does having “push doctor” installed affect SAM?
            2. when iTunes asks me if i want to update my carrier settings, should I say yes?
            3. does having “notified” installed affect my push notification abilities?

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

PushDoc is used only if SAM fails. If yours is an US iPhone 2G, SAM will work for you 100%. Also its should read as Wildcard Activated & not just Activated. Use the Auto-Detect mode instead.
Yes, you can go ahead and update your carrier settings w/o any issues.

        •
          Liz5 years, 5 months ago

still no luck. i don’t know why i can’t get the “wildcard activated” from “unactivated”. here are my steps:
          1. went to cydia added the source and installed sam w/sam prefs.
          2. rebooted phone
          3. reverted my phone to lockdown without my sim. got “stockification success” 4. connected to itunes.
          5. put tmobile sim back in.
          6. itunes says “welcome to your new phone. let’s activate it with your at&t number” if i use my at&t sim in step 3. it gives me an option of setting up an entirely new plan.

my SAM status still says unactivated on my phone because obviously i was not able to activate it via itunes after using SAM.

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Do not put in any SIM card whilst activating using SAM. Remove any SIM that you may have in your iPhone and reconnect it to iTunes for SAM to take effect.(Airplane Mode is preferred). You should be Activated now. Pop in your SIM back only if SAM says Wildcard Activated.

          •
            Liz5 years, 5 months ago

when i use auto-detect mode itunes brings me back to “welcome to your new iphone” and asks me for my at&T number. also when using auto-detect, my activation state is now “mismatchediccid”

and yes, i have a US, iphone 2g, on 3.1.3 jailbroken and unlocked with redsn0w

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Okies, switch it back to the Manual mode itself to skip the Activate with AT&T screen of iTunes. Also what does PushDoc say? Did you install it and try it out as well?

          •
            Liz5 years, 5 months ago

yeah i tried PushDoc and its not doing anything. i’m not getting push notifications at all. on my old iphone even if push notifications didn’t work too consistently, i would still get them in the middle of a call or when i turned my airplane mode from off to on and then back to off. but right now my phone is completely devoid of push even though its toggled to “on” in my settings. i really don’t know why any of this isn’t working.

Please advise how to know carrier for MC603X i got the phone from ebay and the guy said its locked to voda. i tried voda sim but its not activating. restored firmware to stock and then to custom 4.3.3 using snowbreeze. now tried in sam voda uk -ve, voda au -ve and voda nz -ve responses. Am i just unlucky? i also tried o2 sim and t mobile sim in the phone. can jailbreaking be the cause for this?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

It is not possible to find out to which carrier your iPhone was locked just by looking at your model number. The model number gives details of only the country in which the iPhone was distributed & not the carrier to which it was locked to which in your case is Australia. No, jailbreaking can never be the reason for this because its Apple who locks your iPhone to the carrier. If SAM dint work for you, you’ll need to try PushDoctor to get yourself officially activated. Follow this guide: http://bit.ly/k2vSGU.

okay, so i used gsm father and they unlocked my phone, it was working on t mobile network uk until i jailbreaked it using snowbreeze 4.3.3 now it 1 bar on network and i cant make any calls. What might be the problem?

        •
          Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

By using Sn0wBreeze, you have preserved your BB as well while updating to the latest FW. Bear in mind that you need not use tools like Sn0wBreeze/PwnageTool if you have an unlocked iPhone and restore to the custom IPSW files. To reslove this issue, Go ahead and restore your iPhone to Apple’s Stock (Original) 4.3.3 IPSW via iTunes. After it restores back, your good to go with full signal bars and then jailbreak it later with Redsn0w like this: http://bit.ly/kPhfh0 :)

another phone mc603b can u plz tell carrier ?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

You must know that MC603B simply means it is just a UK phone. That’s all.
You can not tell if it is factory unlocked or locked to a provider with only the model number.
Only way to see if it is factory unlocked is to try with different SIM’s to see if your able to catch a carrier signal. If your able to, then its factory unlocked & if not, then its locked to some carrier within UK.

      •

MC605x – iPhone 4 32GB, Locked. The problem here is both Australia & New Zealand sell this model locked in their respective countries with multiple carriers. With the model number alone, its impossible to zero-in on the carrier to which it was locked to. You’ll need to backtrack it to the owner or the person from whom your brought it from.

    •

Nope. You’ll need to actually know from where & which carrier it was locked to. You’ll need to give PushDoc a retry to get unique certs if that’s troubling you in any way.

Do you have the official AT&T SIM that came with your locked iPhone? If you have it, you’ll need to use this to officially activate your iPhone via iTunes after you Revert Lockdownd To Stock(From SAM) >> Uninstall SAM >> Reboot >> When your on the EmergencyCall screen, pop it in back & connect to iTunes to officially activate. SAM is only for those who do not have the official locked SIM. (Even if you don’t have one, your friend’s/any other AT&T SIM will also get the job done.)

      •

i bought an old at&t sim card from our local cellphone store. i tried again by following the step but no luck. do you know what might be the problem since i’m alreay using the at&t sim on a gevey sim, i stockify it, and then uninstall the sam, restart the springboard, the activation screen pop out and still, wont activate it. help!
i also tried changing the simid, didnt uninstall it though but still no luck. help!

        •
          Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Please follow my earlier comment as mentioned. You should not use the AT&T with the Gevey. iPhone 4 will detect it by default (Since its locked to AT&T itslef.). Use the original SIM tray along with the AT&T SIM on it and follow my steps as mentioned.

          •

still no luck…. i already used the original sim tray with the expired at&t, stockify, uninstall sam, and then connect to itunes but still no luck. what i did then is i try changing the simid without uninstalling the sam but again no luck. is there other possible remedies? thanks

          •
            Prince5 years, 5 months ago

When you say reboot, do you mean restart the springboard or the whole phone itself with the power button?

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Reboot = Restart you iPhone completely by switching it completely OFF first and switching it back ON.

          •
            prince5 years, 5 months ago

yes… there is one bar in the signal bars and itunes still say sim card inserted does not appear to be supported.

i insert original sim tray and at&t sim, i install new sam, stockify, restart spring board and then reboot the phone with the switch off switch on off the phone, connect to itunes and still give me the error message

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

It shouldn’t show it this way since yours was locked to AT&T itself right? Also note that you need not use SAM if you have the official SIM. SAM definitely works if yours was a US iPhone almost 100% of the time. But seems like I’m missing some info here. Are yous absolutely sure that this iPhone is from the US? Looks like its not. By inserting the official SIM, you should be able to get out of the Emergency Call screen after a fresh restore.

        •
          Prince5 years, 5 months ago

The thing is when i uninstall sam, cydia will restart the springboard and load the activation screen and that is the time that i connect my iPhone to the itunes. I know this is what you said.. But i still get no luck >.<

          •
            Pramod5 years, 5 months ago

Once you connect it over iTunes, does it throw an error telling you that its an invalid SIM that you have inserted? When you insert you AT&T SIM, does it show a single bar on the top?

          •
            prince5 years, 3 months ago

sorry. i’ve been busy. it say “no sim card installed” no single bar. does that mean i need to buy new at&t sim and make sure that there is one bar?

          •
            Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

It simply means that your iP4 isn’t able to read the SIM itself to begin with. Remove any Gevey if in case your using one then pop it back in with the original tray. It should be atleast reading the SIM.

      Model: iPhone 4 32GB
      Country: Japan
      Carrier Locked to SoftBank
In Japan, iPhone 4’s are locked only to SoftBank. So, make sure that the SIM you use is not an Invalid SIM. Alternatively, try a different SoftBank SIM as well from your friend. Make sure you do not use the Gevey Tray along with the SoftBank SIM when you insert it into the iPhone 4.

If SAM isn’t working for you, use PushDoctor instead. Follow this guide http://bit.ly/k2vSGU to get your Push working.

Does any of your friend have an official carrier SIM that came with their locked iPhone ? If so, get it from them and pop it into your iPhone and connect it to iTunes. iTunes will then activate it for you without the need for SAM if it doesn’t work for you. :)

I’ve bought it online from someone that wanted to sell it because it have a simlock. He told me he bought it in Germany. He doesn’t have the original sim. And I don’t know which carrier it’s locked on..
The iphone works now with a Gevey card. But i dont get any push messages. I use Ebuddy and Whatsapp and Twitter ver much, so the push messages are very usefull for me if it works..

Does anyone know how i can fix this?
I’m only 17 years old and don’t have the money to buy just a new one because i have an 32GB and i use all of the memory. so please can someone help me?

Try out PushDoctor if SAM is troubling you. You can find the details on how to use it here http://bit.ly/k2vSGU. PushDoctor should get your PushNot up and running in no time. :)

unfortunately this also didn’t work for me.

I’ve 4.3.3, preserved baseband 02.10.04 and unlock with gevey.

My model is MC603KS, after googling i tried Telenor_se with the first of the two SIM ID’s which I could choose from: 24008.

Still I get itunes saying Sim not supported. Any Idea what is going wrong?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 6 months ago

Very hard to say what could be causing the issue. Is it possible for you to confirm in anyways as to which carrier was it locked to in Mexico? Because if you could confirm it, then we can narrow it down to a better solution.

      •
        Michael5 years, 6 months ago

I think the phone came from norway, but that’s a guess. I also tried Telenor_no without any succes.

Maybe it has to do something with the preserved baseband (02.10.04)?

Because I didn’t got SAM to work and I badly needed push to work, I installed pushfix . My push works fine now, but could it be possible that pushfix is causing problems for SAM.

        Thanks for the help.

Glad to know that PushFix worked gr8. :) Its very hard to say at times as to what might be causing this issue in the first place. Some carriers get auto-detected, some doesn’t at all. Some doesn’t even with Custom Carrier. Frankly, I seriously do think SAM does have issues with activation of Push still. But nevertheless there are alternatives like PushFix to get us through the day too. :)

      TRY AUTO DETECT MODE
Its also possible that your phone from Finland And the Carrier name is (Sonera)

    I have an iPhone 3GS, iOS 4.3.3 (8J2) (sn0wbreeze custom firmware with hacktivation), Baseband: 05.13.04, Model: MB717LL

I am pretty sure it is factory locked to AT&T. I have tried Auto-Detect mode, Bundle Mode (ATT_US), and even Country/Carrier Mode (AT&T – Cingular Wireless). I have tried every SIM ID for AT&T yet it is still giving me the Invalid SIM error in iTunes.

I followed all the steps, but I’m not having any luck. Any ideas?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 6 months ago

Yes, your right. Your iPhone model belongs to US, which is carrier locked to AT&T. For AT&T, the auto detect mode should work just fine. Reinstall SAM and follow the steps once again. It should work with the auto-detect mode in the first try.

I have reinstalled SAM a number of times, and I have restored a number of times. I restored to a just regular 4.0 Firmware as well and tried SAM then but still no luck and I tried it with my custom 4.3.3 firmware and no luck. I’m not sure why it is not working. And I want to use Push Doctor at the least but there I keep getting an error when installing it. I think it’s because no certificates are available. Any suggestions?
P.S. For some reason my YouTube and Push Email still work fine with Hacktavation. Only my regular Push for like apps doesn’t work.

          Pramod5 years, 6 months ago

Do you by any chance know to which carrier your phone was locked to? Because it seems to be an issue with the carrier SIM details being entered into SAM. If yes, pop the original carrier SIM into the phone and activate via iTunes. Let me know how it goes in either cases. If PushDoctor isn’t working, use iPusher instead from here http://bit.ly/kfJwsd :)

          •
            Swizard2105 years, 6 months ago

I am quite sure it was locked to AT&T Originally. The phone is currently unlocked via ultrasn0w, but from what I’ve read, that shouldn’t be a problem. I have tried to put in an original AT&T SIM but that isn’t working with iTunes either. I’m a little confused by your last sentence, “If PushDoctor isn’t working, use iPusher instead from here.” I have been waiting for PushDoctor to get more certificates but the count is still Zero on the website (http://www.cmdshft.ipwn.me/blog/?p=481). However you suggested I use iPusher. I have it already installed and the push test via iPusher doesn’t work. What I don’t understand is why you suggested using iPusher instead of PushDoctor. I could be wrong, but doesn’t iPusher only TEST push, not fix it like PushDoctor does?

            Pramod5 years, 6 months ago

Swizard210, your right, I just wanted you to check if the iPusher was returning you a success message or not. But one thing, Why aren’t you able to get it activated via AT&T’s original SIM? When you pop in the AT&T SIM into the iPhone and connect it to iTunes, does iTunes still tell you to insert the right SIM? (Make sure you have Revert Lockdownd To Stock” your iPhone via SAM for official activation before trying so). Try that too and let me know.

Oh okay. Unfortunately, iPusher wasn’t successful for me yet. Honestly, I don’t know why it didn’t with an orignal AT&T SIM. I do have to not that it was an old SIM from a friend, and MAYBE something is wrong with it, etc.? It’s quite old. But I don’t know ANYONE else who would have an AT&T SIM that I could use. Yes with that old AT&T SIM, iTunes still stays the SIM is not valid etc. I could be wrong, I am pretty sure I did revert it prior to trying it since it said so in the guide. However, each time I try a new SIM ID or a new SIM card do I have to revert it?
And before I try PushFix, I wanted to ask, I thought it was a service that was charged as opposed to PushDoctor which was free. Is that wrong?

          •
            Pramod5 years, 6 months ago

My bad, yes. PushFix is a paid one. Sorry for the confusion there. I have updated my previous comment as well. The SIM being old doesn’t matter because the phone should still be able to read the necessary details off the SIM. Chances are that the phone wasn’t locked to AT&T in the first place itself (Since iTunes says the same thing). But, your model number says otherwise.
No, you’ll not need to Revert everytime you try a different SIM ID. Make sure your getting the “Stockification Success” message too when you Reverted. Did you?

          •
            Swizard2105 years, 6 months ago

Oh okay. As far as I know the phone was locked to AT&T but you’re right that if the original SIM is not being read then maybe I’m mistaken. However I did revert it and it did give me the “Stockification Success” notice.

Any idea when Anethema may be putting out any more certs for Push Doctor? I really need to get this back up and running for work. I have tried to reply to him on Twitter but haven’t gotten a reply back. Not sure if you know him or know how else to contact him.

          •
            Pramod5 years, 6 months ago

“Stockification Sucees” message is a good sign. Did yout try PushDoctor to fix your Push Notifications too? Download it off Cydia, Install, Run the fix and make sure you Reboot. After that, Run iPusher and tell me what’s the message. I too have no idea since Anethema hasn’t tweeted anything about new certs as of now.

          •
            Swizard2105 years, 6 months ago

I have tried to download and install PushDoctor but I keep getting an error saying that it couldn’t successfully get a cert from the server because there may not be any remaining currently. And based on the website (http://www.cmdshft.ipwn.me/blog/?p=481) on the right hand side, it in fact shows that currently there are no remaining certificates for PushDoctor. I am very hopeful for PushDoctor although I guess we need to wait until Anethema releases more certificates. =/ Thank you for working with me so far. If you have any ideas of something else I should try please let me know and I will surely attempt it.

          •
            Pramod5 years, 6 months ago

You’ll need to wait for the certs to generate. Since people use SAM as the best activation method for Push, PDoctor has lost its interest in the race I guess. Probably, you’ll need to wait for it to generate some certs and give it a try. But by far, the AT&T is the best and the 100% solution for this. Its weird that its showing an error for the AT&T SIM. Why don’t you try a fresh installation of the iOS itself w/o any hacktivation involved and then activate it from the Emergency Call screen itself ?

          •
            Swizard2105 years, 6 months ago

I tried a fresh install of 4.0.1 via TinyUmbrella, and then tried the AT&T SIM but still no luck. =(

Although Anethema did tweet that he may be getting more certs soon, so I am looking hopefully towards that.

        •

Yep, re-install SAM and give it a try, if it doesn’t work in the auto-detect mode, follow the guide thoroughly once again. Use different SIM ID’s as well when using the Custom bundle method.

SAM should work for your iPhone perfectly. What you can do is uninstall SAM, reinstall it and give it a retry. Make sure to try all the SIM ID’s for a successful activation.

It is a UK phone. Btw personally i think your iPhone is factory unlocked (From model number) but still you can try all UK networks like O2, Tesco, Vodafone, Orange, T-Mobile & 3
