How to Activate iPhone 4/3GS on iOS 4.3.3 Using SAM?

After jailbreaking your iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS on iOS 4.3.3, you can install SAM on your iPhone to activate it officially using iTunes. This will not only provide you with much improved battery life but will also enable fully working Push Notifications on your iDevice. For those who don't know, SAM tricks iTunes to generate legitimate activation packets for your iPhone which in turn fully activates your iPhone without official carrier SIM card.

Steps to Officially Activate iPhone 4/3GS on iOS 4.3.3 Using SAM:

  1. Launch Cydia app on your jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad
  2. SAM (Cydia)

  3. Tap on Manage tab followed by a tap on Sources section
  4. Cydia (Manage)
    Cydia (Sources)

  5. Tap on Edit button on the top-right followed by tap on Add button on the top-left. Enter http://repo.bingner.com as Cydia/APT URL and tap on Add Source button.
  6. SAM (Cydia Repo Address)

  7. Tap on the Search tab at the bottom and type SAM in the search field.
  8. SAM (Cydia Search)

  9. Choose SAM from the search results and tap on Install button on the top-right begin SAM installation.
  10. SAM for iPhone 4/3GS

  11. Once done, hit the Reboot Device button to restart your iPhone.
  12. Cydia (Reboot Device)

  13. Once you have successfully installed SAM on your iPhone, navigate to Settings » SAM » Utilities and tap on Revert Lockdown to Stock button. You will see Stockification Success message. If you see Stockification Failure message then it means you have not installed correct version of SAM on your iPhone.
  14. SAM (Stockification Success)

  15. Now tap on SAM button on the top-left to go back to the main menu.
  16. SAM (After Activation)

  17. Thats it. Plug your iPhone to your PC or Mac via USB cable and launch iTunes. You will see the following screen in iTunes:
  18. SAM (iTunes)

  19. Wait while iTunes generate legitimate activation packets for your iPhone. Once done, you are all set to sync and backup your iPhone.
  20. SAM (iPhone Activated)

  21. After syncing and backing up your iPhone, iTunes will throw error 1651. Just ignore this message.
  22. iTunes Error 1651

  23. Open SAM app on your iPhone and click on the More Information menu.
  24. SAM (WildcardActivated)

  25. If you see ActivationState as WildcardActivated, thats it! Your done!
  26. To test if Push Notifications are working fine or not, install iPusher app from App Store. Once installed, tap on Test Push Notifications button and if you see Yay, push notifications work fine! message then it means Push Notifications are working fine. Also note that to test Push Notifications using iPusher app, you must be connected to Wi-Fi with an active internet connection.

    Hi,
I have succeeded in every steps that you have described, following update #2 SIM Card Does not appear to be supported, Now it<s ok: Activation State: WildcardActivated.
However, to syncronize with Itunes, it takes forever! Do you have any suggestion to speed up the process? I deleted every apps, photos, music etc, but its still jammed at step 2…
Your help will be much appreciated !

@google-0a663bd4f491bde0787b0fff53d55ad1:disqus : Hi, i hope you are well. Don’t know if my post will me doubled, i did’nt had any disqus account, which i just created. I alread typed my message in reply to your last, but i think it lost it. Here’s my question:

could you explain how to install old version of SAM in the link you just given, i mean how to install a cydia package from your PC instead of from a repo ? i updated to the last version of SAM as well through Cydia update and now i lost push notifications, which is really annoying.

    Thanks

    ???? ???????4 years, 8 months ago

ok i found solution. download and install one of those http://www.mediafire.com/?wszp0kwzadaxpzd old SAM deb’s. one of them worked for me (don’t know which exactly), and don’t add bingner’s repo to cydia so you dont get any update from them.
note 0.1.3-1 is too old that doesn’t work with 4.3.3 firmware

    Hi.
    I’ve got a Gevey-unlocked iPhone running 5.0.1 baseband 04.10.01
I just restored and upgraded to 5.0.1 with a custom IPSW to preserve BB, and jail broke and hactivated it with redsn0w.
Thereafter I wanted to restore from a backup, but that option was no longer available in iTunes.
Ive read on the net that you need to install this SAM app.
Does anybody know if it’s compatible with my version, baseband, etc. and if it works well.
    Thanks
    Help would be much appreciated!

i guess SAM recently updated for ios 5 or something now its version says (0.1.12-34),about mont ago i used this manual and it worked fine. Yesterday i noticed some update notifications in cydia, and pushed update not reading apps it mentioned, after that iphone stuck (iphone 4, 4.3.3). ok i restored it again, install SAM again and same thing its stuck installing libsigc++, i did it again and same story, apple logo and wheel.i just wanted facetime to work.
i think to give old version of SAM a try. found one on hackstore repo, version 0.1.3-1
    maybe someone could try it

    •
      Pesmerga4 years, 8 months ago

Yes, it seems that the new version of SAM is giving people some problems and it indeed led them to the apple logo and wheel. And they have been experiencing the problem since the update.

    HELP!
My Iphone 3GS (fw4.3.3) is completely frozen after I pushed the “Install” button for SAM.
The phone is hacktivated and jailbroken.
    Any Ideas?

    •
      Pesmerga4 years, 8 months ago

      Hi,

You can try a soft reset (pressing both the power and home button at the same time until the screen turns black and the Apple logo re appears again) after your phone freezes due to SAM.

      •
        WhyDidIDoIt4 years, 8 months ago

I did that already (and several times :(
But the Iphone freezes always again showing the Apple logo and a “wheel”.
I even let it sit over night, so the energy was completely drained and the phone shut down. But the minute it hat enough energy again it frooze again showing apple and wheel…

I am open for any suggestion

          Tim3143 years, 10 months ago

Hi WhyDidDolt – turn off your Iphone and turn it on back again. When the Apple logo comes up immediately push down the volume “+” button and keep it pressed down until you get to the “idesktop” It might take a few minutes. Hope this will help. All the best.

      •
        WhyDidIDoIt4 years, 8 months ago

        Hi Pesmerga,
tried the soft reset, but that only led to my phone being now frozen in the reboot process (black screen, apple logo and “wheel”). I tried soft reset several times and even let it sit over night. Nothing helped. Also if I try to access it with IphoneExplorer: That does not detect the Iphone.
Any Idee how I get out of this.

          Hi,

Is restoring your phone an option? I would suggest that you put your device into DFU Mode (use Redsn0w: Extras > Just Boot and follow instructions on how to place your device to DFU mode) and iTunes should be able to detect your device, and then do a restore.

        •
          Pesmerga4 years, 8 months ago

          Hi,

Is restoring an option? If a hard / soft reset can’t get your device working, I suggest that you perform a DFU restore. Just use Redsn0w to enter DFU mode (Extras > Just Boot and follow instructions on how to place your device into DFU mode), once in DFU mode, iTunes should be able to detect your device, then you can do a restore.

the link from @Ralph_castro worked (http://t.co/cq68oMu9) – provided SAM 1.11-1 instead of 1.10-1 – with the former I kept getting ‘no root access’ error, even after it said it was successfully wildcard activated. after uninstalling 1.10-1 + sam prefs + acutil, etc and reinstalling from the repo at the link above, it worked the first time, and ipusher immediately agreed. with 1.10-1, ipusher always locked up at the ‘please wait’ message. with 1.11-1, it worked immediately with 3gs + 5.0.1 + redsnow… this phonme has previously been unlocked and broken every way possible (old bootrom)

@ Ralph_Castro linked work – http://t.co/cq68oMu9 – this is SAM 1.11-1 instead of 1.10-1 – the latter did not work on my 5.0.1 3GS. It kept giving me an error saying it had no root access to backup or restore. even though it successfully claimed I had wildcardactivation – ipusher never agreed that push notifications worked. after uninstalling 1.10-1 SAM +sam prefs + acutil, etc. and installing 1.11-1 from the repo at Ralph_castro’s link, it worked fine the first time and ipusher IMMEDIATELY agreed

      fashion4 years, 9 months ago

      @fashion

i managed to find how to make push work on 5.0.1 :) …

THE SOLUTION FOR PUSH NOTIFICATIONS on iOS 5.0.1 done through SAM is….:

      1. Open “SAM” under “Utilties” select “De-Activate iPhone”, “Revert lockdown”, and then select “Restore Activation”

      2. Plug into iTunes, and wait for the phone to load up + activation.

      3. Your phone is now officially activated! Test with iPusher….

P.S.: If you get a iTunes Error saying invalid sim, go back into “SAM” and make sure “Auto Detect” is selected at the main menu.

P.S.S.: i found it on by mistake on a forum after one week of searching for a solution. :)

I had used the firsttime Redsn0w 0.9.9b8 an diphone2,1_5.0_9a335, but then i came to the acnkowledge to use iphone2,1_5.0.1_9A405 Just Redsn0w does not like it and rejected the file.. so i tried Snowbreeze…. I it works. At somehow i can’t get all the file @Cydia from the pakage pushfix… i don*t know whats happening there… And i don’t know if i need the at all.

      Hi,

I believe SAM doesn’t affect carrier signal, keep in mind that this is for activating your iPhone 4/3GS using SAM. SAM doesn’t unlock your device.

Could you tell me if SAM is compatible with Firmware 5.0.1? Since after I installed SAM my springboard has been crashing many times now. If not then maybe some of the programs that SAM came with like Erica Utilities might not be compatible with this firmware? Thanks in advance!

    •

Yes, SAM & its dependencies are perfectly compatible with iOS 5.0.x. It definitely should be some other incompatible app / tweak that you may have installed from Cydia.

Check to see if your push is enabled from the Settings area. Reboot if necessary. For the Wi-Fi issue, I would suggest you to show it at the nearest Apple store & get it checked.

When i do these steps will it, erase my recent programs downloaded on my iphone… and everything else? iphone 3gs and jailbroken + unlocked using snowbreaze ios 4.3.3

since its going to sync with iTunes as i see in the steps.

EDIT: used Snowbreeze AND from Cydia to unlock for the Carrier USED ultrasn0w

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

As long as these apps are already available in your iTunes library & that your device is authorized for use with the same PC, it will not erase / delete anything. Keep an eye on the warnings though i.e if any.

    •

Yes, you can use this to activate your device to resolve Push notification issues. If you have already used your original carrier SIM to officially activate your device, you need not use SAM.

Sorry Pramod, sometimes my fingers was more fast than my eyes..! Now it works!! Very good job! Just a couple of doubt, now 3g connection seems to be slower than before and, notifications of “whatsapp” (iphone app like as skype) are “sent” by unique sender “named” -iphone4-. It’s normal? Do you think that a software unlock will never be done for baseband unlockable? Thanks again, Robby.

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

I don’t think anyone is working on anykind of unlock for the latest BB versions. So yes, you can safely assume that nothing new is going to come by anytime soon. 3G connection purely depends on your carrier & has got nothing to do with the way you activated your device. Also, Whatsapp notifications should be just like how you used to get them normally.

  •

    Hi Pramod, status is “FactoryActivated”

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

That’s the reason why Backup Activation is missing. You need to get it Wildcard Activated. Please go through the steps mentioned in this post once again & redo the procedure.

Everything went perfectly until the part where I connect to iTunes. It says “We were unable to verify your identity using the information you provided. Please verify your information and try again.”
I forgot to say, I’ve got an iPhone 2G running 3.1.3.

    Any help?

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

You need to either enter in the right info for iTunes to verify your credibility or hacktivate your device to get across it.

  •
    Arjun4 years, 10 months ago

No I did ‘t even open Cydia I told na till yest after noon it worked fine. It Sam I looked wiledcard is activated. Pls fix me withthis issue. I was using iOS 3.2 in that push worked superb. After updating to 4.2.1 it really have this issue. Can I use any other version where push works fine. Say like lower iOS 4.1 or 4.0 or any other. Pls help me

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

I really don’t think push depends on the version of the iOS that you use. Did you use a legit SIM to activate your device officially via iTunes while you were on iOS 3.2?

  •
    arjun4 years, 10 months ago

i tried all this step before 2 weeks and it was working perfect in my phone i was getting push notification. in i pusher i was getting the meesage push notification works fine. but from today after noon i am not able to get any push notification. even in i pusher i am not getting that reply. why is it so?
    plsss hepl

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

Could be some apps / tweaks that uses push that could have rendered it useless. Did you install any such thing from Cydia?

Hi thank you very much now my ipush works fine but i have one question, i have 4.3.3 baseband 6.15.0 , can i update to a new version and still have my unlock (at&t) or will it be locked and then i cant unlock it…

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

Yes, you can very well update to a higher version of the iOS. Just make sure to always use a custom IPSW for your restores no matter the iOS.

when i plug the iphone in to itunes it loaded up as it normally would its a at&t im tryna get over to sprint

    HELP! ):

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

Ehm, I really didn’t what the issue is. The last time I checked, Sprint was strictly a CDMA network carrier. It isn’t even theoretically possible to run a CDMA carrier network on your GSM iPhone because it lacks the necessary h/w to begin with.

    •

Goto SAM>>Utilites & then: Backup Activation>>Deactivate iPhone>>Restore Activation & then Reboot your iPhone. After that, check your push with iPusher. That should work.

does it work for baseband 4.10.01 on iphone 4? its locked to vodafone spain !

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

Yes, but bear in mind that this is for activating your device w/o a legit carrier SIM officially via iTunes. SAM doesn’t unlock your device in any manner.

    •
      Pramod4 years, 10 months ago

Yes it does, but bear in mind that SAM only helps to officially activate your device w/o a legit carrier SIM. SAM doesn’t unlock your device in any manner.

hi after seeing the status wild card activated i installed ipush and once i check in ipush i cant get any reply it saying please wait. what should i do pls help

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

Did you reboot your device right after you completed activating via SAM? Uninstall iPusher, reboot & allow it to sync with your computer. Then reinstall iPusher, again reboot & sync. After that, iPusher should be working just fine now.

    Hi Pramond,

Just want to let you know I’m still stuck on

“We’re sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time.”
“Please try again later, or contact customer care.”

My Model is MC318LL if that will help. Also my friend has a Gevey Ultra sim. Just curious and I tried it to my iPhone but it doesn’t work. Maybe theres a prob in my phone?

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

Mhm, not sure about that. Maybe its time that you actually called up the customer care & speak to them about your issue afterall.

Then you need to manually choose your carrier details from SAM. Read Update#2 at the bottom of the post.

    Actually, No, Should I ??
I tried, no matter which SIM I try it does not work except O2(Official SIM)..Got any solution now..???

  •
    chip4 years, 11 months ago

well, I did as you said I made new custom IPSW from sn0wbreeze 2.8b8 without marking Activate option, did a restore, iPhone started asked for SIM I inserted O2(Legit) connected to iTunes got activated, As soon I put my Vodafone India it comes back to Emergency screen asks for Activation…..So what is the solution….?

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

Did you try any other SIM other than the current one your trying to work it with?

  •
    chip4 years, 11 months ago

My phone is locked to O2 and I have an O2 SIM, but the problem is that I wanna use Vodafone India, after Uninstalling SAM my phone Goes back to Emergency screen so to bypass that I put O2 SIM, connected to iTunes got activated, but whenever I try to put Vodafone my iPhone again comes back to Emergency Screen…Need solution for this plz..

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

You need to pop-it in w/o actually hacktivating your device. Perform a restore of your device with a custom IPSW without hacktivation & then use the same O2 SIM to officially activate the device via iTunes right after the restore.

i recieve push notifications only for sometime and then they stop working.

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

I believe SAM still has issues with push on tethered JB. If you / anyone else has the legit carrier SIM, use it instead.

  •
    Shoq4 years, 11 months ago

Im sorry if I am taking a lot of your time. I do use wifi/lan connection and never used a tethered connection. I spent my afternoon yesterday trying and I came across this error once but I can’t seem to replicate it again.

“iTunes could not connect to this iPhone because an unknown error occured (0xE8000065).”

BTW I still can’t activate :( Do I need an active wifi connection to my iPhone when doing this?

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

You need to “Hold Power Button & Home Button simultaneously until you see the Apple Logo.
Note : Do this method keeping iTunes open. Let me know if the error code issue was resolved or not.

Do you have the legit AT&T carrier SIM that came locked to your iPhone?

  •
    Sipper4 years, 11 months ago

Thats exactly my problem! And I tried everything. I even tried to deactivate my iPhone by using Redsnow but it didn ‘t work. Why ?

I also found another problem. In Details the ICCID of my SIM and SAM are the same. And it is always the ICCID of my real Sim. When I remove my real Sim and choose a carrier manually SAM-details shows me a different ICCID for SAM. But when I put the real Sim back in, SAM ICCID is changed back to the SIM ICCID. And also after I a do a new Jailbreak and install SAM, SAM somehow remembered the informations… ?!

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

Just uninstall SAM from your device, pop-in the original SIM & hook it to iTunes. That’s it. You shouldn’t have even though of SAM when you were already having the legit carrier SIM.

  •
    chip4 years, 11 months ago

Hi, i’ve tried that, my phone is locked to O2 and I have an O2 SIM, i spoofed it..what next.? It still says “MismatchedICCID”

You need to be Wildcard Activated. Read the post & perform the steps.

  •
    Shoq4 years, 11 months ago

Yes I did try it in my home pc and my office pc and a friends laptop. Still same message. However on my friend’s laptop there is an error message on the bottom left which says “ILLEGAL_TETHER_ACTION” or something like that.

Does hacktivating using Snowbreeze 2.7.3 is an issue? Do I need to use Redsnow instead? I choose to use snowbreeze coz it preserves my baseband and im not sure redsnow preserves it also.

Thanks for helping me I really appreciate it!

    Sipper4 years, 11 months ago

I bought the iPhone in the USA in an Apple Store. So it should be locked to AT&T?!
I tried a lot of carrier combinations and none worked.
Does “Activation State: Activated” and “mismatchedICCID” indicate, that I haven’t found the right carrier?

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

Spoof your friend’s / someone else’s AT&T SIM using SAM.

  •
    Sipper4 years, 11 months ago

    Hey,

I installed SAM and followed your instruction. However, I only get “Activation State: Activated”. And after a reboot I get the message “mismatchedICCID”. Furthermore, I don’t have the option to “backup”.
Half a year ago I had the same problem, but I don’t know anymore how I solved the problem.
(There had also been a problem with my router and the DNS setting: I needed to manually set a new DNS address.)

I hope you have an answer.

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

You need to know to which carrier your device is actually locked to & then select it manually from the carrier list, country & SIM ID combination. Currently its not & so you need to set them up correctly. If you / anyone else has a legit carrier SIM, you can pop-it in & hook your device to iTunes for official activation.

  •

    •

Yep, its probably an Apple activation server issue which should get resolved. Did you try a different computer as well?

    Hi,

I have an iPhone 4 GSM (Locked to AT&T). I have restored/jb using Snowbreeze 2.7.3 and now using iOS 4.3.3 and Baseband 1.59.00.

I installed SAM as instructed above and got Stockification Success and disabled Hacktivate however when I try to activate in iTunes it says

“We’re sorry, we are unable to continue with your activation at this time.”
“Please try again later, or contact customer care.”

please help I want to try Facetime and push functions.

PS: I also installed ultrasn0w since I’m not using AT&T

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

Its probably because the Apple servers are overloaded. Try again after a few hours & it should then be able to activate your device just fine.

  •

    Thanks

    •
      Pramod4 years, 11 months ago

You must have updated your device to the stock version of iOS 5 instead of a custom one directly from iTunes. You must know that the Gevey doesn’t work on iOS 5 anymore. Also, SAM has nothing to do with regards to an unlock at all. You need to downgrade back your device to iOS 4.3.5 & then follow this guide http://bit.ly/p2VAxx to keep your device Gevey unlocked.

using iphone 4 4.3.5 firmware. used redsn0w to hacktivate the iphone. using gevey sim to unlock the BB. push notifications dont work. installed SAM then push notifications work briefly (about 2 minutes) afterwards it stops working, (then randomly at a few hours later, push notifications work but only briefly) why is this?? i want to get push notifications to work normally. any help thank you.
since i unlocked it via gevey sim. one i remove the apps reboot it, should i unlock the phone again via gevey sim and then install the social apps?

If you have the legit SIM that came officially unlocked to your iPhone, uninstall SAM, reboot & then pop-it in to activate your iPhone officially with Apple. Else, try getting one from either of your friends & use the same to activate instead of SAM.

FINALLYYYYYYY!!! my push notifications r working again!!!!!!
I have an iPhone 4 firmware 4.3.3 factory unlocked

i also think that the prob is not in the iPhone itself or its jailbreak or whatever, but rather the iTunes server, because i restored my iPhone over 10 times and jailbreaked it with redsn0w, sn0wbreeze (custom ipsw) and jailbreakme but still no push notifications until i followed the above steps!

Hope i could help cz i was really fed up with this issue!!!!

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

You never needed to use SAM in the first place !! Being factory unlocked, you are by default officially activated via iTunes already using any carrier SIM. There is nothing wrong with the iTunes activation servers either. You were choosing the hacktivation option in your custom IPSWs even when you were factory unlocked already. That’s what was wrong.

  •
    Nader5 years ago

Yes – Push Doctor did install correctly and I used iPusher to check its status and nothing happens. The software just freezes. Moreover programs like whatsapp and facebook chat don;t stay connected. I have to keep opening them whenever I lock my phone. :/

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

Quit & re-open iPusher. It should work after that if it didn’t work the first time. Also, uninstall & reinstall your social apps after a valid push cert is confirmed by iPusher. If everything went well with Push Doctor, everything should be working just fine for you in terms of push.

    Hello,

What if a person is already unlocked using the ultrasnow app from Cydia?
but is suffering from this notification not working… Using JB iOS 4.3.3

Could he/she do this even Ultrasnow is installed to hacktivate (make SIM card unofficial work) ? OR Should a Person uninstall ultrasnow first then install from Cydia This app. (SAM) ?? and if so how to uninstall the ultrasnow that unlocks iphone ?? Please advice me :)

    Please Help urgently :)

    •

It doesn’t really matter. SAM & unlocking are 2 different things totally unrelated to each other. So you really need not uninstall Ultrsn0w at all to run SAM.

Hey. Okay. So what if I don’t have a legit sim from a carrier? My friend bought this phone for me from the UK and he somehow misplaced the SIM that came with this phone. I now reside in India. Do you have to have the SIM that came with this phone? Also – I know this is a tutorial for SAM..but I got Pushdoctor Installed. I rebooted by phone and nothing has really changed. Would you know how to get this working through Push Doctor?

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

Did PushDoctor install with success? If so, then your push is definitely working for good. Test the status of your push by using something called iPusher from the AppStore. Right now, both SAM & Push Doctor works great for the iPhone.

It stays at ‘waiting to activate’. Now I followed your instructions up until where it says to sync your phone with itunes. I cannot do that because itunes says im using an invalid sim and only supported carriers can be used to activate iphones. Any walk around for this? :)

Pop in the legit carrier SIM to which your iPhone was locked to & connect it to iTunes. Make sure that you aren’t using the Gevey unlocked SIM to activate with SAM as its not recommended though it may work.

    Hi,
My problem is just that it seems that SAM in my iphone looks different. I don’t see the option of “Revert lockdownd to stock”. I only see back up activation, de-activate iphone, and restore activation.

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

What does your Activation State read as? If its WildCard Activated, you need not worry about any of your missing options within SAM.

    hi
i’m trying to run SAM on my device (iphone4)
it is mc605x model but everytime i tried with auto-detect or by carriers method
my itunes said “the sim card is not recognize” and “this iphone may be broken” in order
or something like that could it be any possible way for me to activate my iphone? thx

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

It depends on various carrier bundles that SAM has. If it doesn’t work for the country in which your iP4 was locked to, you might want to alternatively use PushDoctor instead to get your Push working. At times, SAM bundles does have issues in activating.

Hi. I have an iPhone 3G 3.1.3 JB/UNLOCKED on unofficial SIM.
I restored w/ an unactivated AT&T SIM card inside, got past the emergency call screen by opening iTunes. Set up as new iPhone. JB’d w/ redsn0w 0.9.4, Unlocked with ultrasn0w. Turned off 3G then I turned OFF my iPhone. Removed ATT SIM, and inserted T-mobile sim. Turned ON iPhone. Toggled Airplane Mode to search for my carrier. Essensial Upgrades through Cydia. Added Push Doctor and Installed SAM. REBOOT. I did the revert lckdwn in the guide. Connected iPhone to iTunes. Synced. Testing it with iPusher and push notifications are still not working for me? It just says Please wait… in iPusher.

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

You really never needed to use SAM to begin with. SAM is only for those who do not posses the legit SIM to which the iPhone was officially locked to. You had the AT&T SIM & all you needed to perform was the first part of skipping the Emergency Call screen with the AT&T SIM. That’s the official way of activation via iTunes which will get your Push up & running in no time. Uninstall SAM & repeat the screen skipping procedure once. That’s it.

Guys, I’ve tried the tutorial like 9 times, with reboots and everything else, and here is my status:

iphone 4, 4.3.3 (custom ipsw sn0wbreeze without hackitvate) because i use the same carrier where i bought the phone

notifications turned on… tutorial followed 13times and still get the CONNECT TO ITUNES notification

    Push still doesnt Work!

Is there Any other Solution before I restore it completely as a new iphone, giving up all configs and stuff? if so, please, let me know!

    thanks!

PS: so far, this is the best forum ever for solving iphone errors!

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

Well if your using the same legit carrier SIM to which your iP4 was officially locked to & if you have then used it to activate the same over iTunes to kick your device out of the emergency call screen after the restore, you shouldn’t be even using / near SAM for any wild reason. Your already activated officially by Apple itself & hence your notifications would just work fine like any other normal iPhone. Just make sure that the necessary settings are set first to receive them.

Any chance SAM will work on a 4.3.5??? need to get push notifications working

Yes, its now updated for iOS 4.3.5 as well.

i have installed SAM but i navigate to at&t when im in itunes store that tell me to registered my sim. anyone know how to UNDIRECT me to AT&T ?

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

Seems like your having an iP2G. Probably, hacktivating is your only option at the moment.

  •
kevin wong5 years, 1 month ago

i did exactly that. uninstalled all push apps, used sam to deactivate phone, reboot to emergency screen, installed carrier sim and connected to itunes, rebooted with gevey and 3rd party sim, no push notifications.

for some reason i think sam isnt removing the old push certificates

    •
      Pramod5 years ago

Mhm, possible. But this did work out for another reader, not sure why isn’t it working for you. Your last resort should be a possible fresh install i.e if it still hasn’t worked for you. Make sure that you have set the notifications settings right.

  •
kevin wong5 years, 1 month ago

i wish it was good to go, sadly not. none of my push apps are working. as mentioned when i use push checker to check my status it shows that my cert is not unique and at least 33 ppl have the same one.

i was hoping that using sam would remove my old push cert so i can get a new one from itunes using the carrier sim

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Lol !! Your telling me that the cert which Apple gave you isn’t unique? Uninstall first those notification dependent push apps first, reboot, reactivate & then reinstall them back again. It should now be working just fine. You got to be more optimistic when it comes to your iPhone & as I stated earlier, don’t use third-party apps to check them.

    rabbitp135 years, 1 month ago

Just to follow up, I talked to the T-Mobile ppl (finally got thru) and the guy said you absolutely do not need to buy a phone to activate the sim. He then took my info, asked me what plan I would like and boom, my phone works like a charm. Misinformation was probably the most difficult part of this whole process. Thanks for your help.

  •
kevin wong5 years, 1 month ago

I have been trying to deactivate (clear push) my push cert constantly but haven’t had any luck. I ran pushfix push checker and noted my md5 cert #. i have deleted all my push apps and turned off notifications. deactivated and revert to lockdown via sam, removed sam and rebooted to the emergency call screen. i inserted the original carrier sim and plugged to itunes. everything looks good, i download the push checker again and i still have the same old md5 cert.

can you think of any other way to remove the old push certs?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

You have already activated your device by using the most official channel & that is by using the official SIM via iTunes itself. There’s no need for you to even think of using SAM or some Push checkers after this. Your good to go.

I need help. I bought an iphone 3gs from a friend. It came with the at&t sim in it. I jailbroke and unlocked it, put a t-mobile sim in it. I activated it with SAM but now I want to get a T-Mobile plan for the phone and the guy said he cant do it. I dont know if he knows anything cuz he is a radio shack employee not T-mobile rep. He said i would have to buy a T-Mobile phone, activate that then switch sims, is this true or what is the real story. Thanks in advance.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

I guess you might want to take this issue up with the T-Mobile reps. Honestly, I really don’t think that its the case what the Radio Shack guy told you, but you can always confirm this with the real T-Mobile people if its the case or not.

    Pramod,
Sorry about that, yes I’m using a gevey sim, is that why facetime is not working?

  •
    blackcrx5 years, 1 month ago

don’t i need to “de-activate” and “revert back to stock” and reboot for the emergency call screen?

is it as easy as just removing my gevey and 3rd pary sim, install his original carrier sim and hook up to itunes?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Yes, it should work perfect by then. Try it out.

  •
    blackcrx5 years, 1 month ago

sorry, a little backgroung of this phone. i bought it used and it was on 4.3.3 which i cleared all the settings. this caused to phone to be stuck in the emergency call screen in which i used redsnow to jailbreak and hactivate it. this is when i realized that hactivating would cause problems with push notification and battery drain.

i recently found a friend that had a new sim that was the same carrier that the phone was locked to, which i borrowed in hopes of resolving the battery and push issues.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

All you had to do was use this official SIM of your friend’s & hook it upto iTunes. Nothing else.

  •
    blackcrx5 years, 1 month ago

the carrier sim i used has not been activated before, does that matter? it was a sim from a friend that he never used that was still in the little card thing.

i tried testing push by using apps like ipusher and whatsapp. also even after i have used the official sim my battery is still discharging at 10%/hr on very little use.

according to pushfix.info push checker and it says that my push cert is not unique

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

As long as its from the carrier who locked your iPhone, it doesn’t really matter at all as it will still activate your iPhone officially via iTunes. iPusher isn’t a notification app. Also what does SAM shows its activation state as? Uninstall & reinstall WhatsApp right after the official activation. Each time you try to get the notification right, uninstall & reinstall them to verify. W/o that it doesn’t work. Pushfix.info is not same as PushDoctor from cmdshft. Read the details before installing too many things.

i have been trying to get this push notification and sam working for the past 2 days. can you please confirm the steps for iphone4 4.3.3 using gevey turbo sim

i have tried using sam to de activate and revert back to stock. rebooted to the emergency screen, installed official carrier sim and connected to itunes. itunes seems to recognize the sim. i turn off iphone and re-install gevey with 3rd party sim. no push notification and battery still discharges at 10%/hr

i have also tried de activating and revert back to stock, with only the 3rd party sim (no gevey), picked the carrier bundle that the phone is originally locked to but itunes keeps giving me an unsupported sim error

    please help

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

If your indeed having the official carrier SIM to which your iPhone was officially locked to, you need not use SAM itself in the first place. Next, how are you able to confirm that your notifications aren’t working? Did you try any notification dependent apps? Have you set all the settings up & right for them to work from your Settings app? With the official carrier SIM, certs are already in your iPhone straight from iTunes. There isn’t any better way to get notifications working.

  •
    Komplong5 years, 1 month ago

Yeah stuck ath the itunes step no 9.. Is there any way to fix my notifications? Waiting push doctor cert is so damn longg

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

PushDoctor should be able to help you out once the certs counter refills.

  •
    Komplong5 years, 1 month ago

I have done all the step on http://bit.ly/p4pMkK but still stuck at the itunes

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Stuck at iTunes? Mhm, then its because the SAM bundles aren’t working that great as expected for you.

  •
    Komplong5 years, 1 month ago

I already tried it. i tried for belgium mobistar and luxemburg vox still got the error

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Probably then the bundles for your carrier aren’t working as expected. Did you try the manual method of installing your bundles as well? Read this http://bit.ly/p4pMkK.

Hi, I’m new in the iphone world just bought from a friend a new iphone 4, although he had it jailbroken for me. I’m running 4.3.3, but no idea how he Jailbroke it. It locked with ATT in the US and currently I’m using a Gevey for it with a local SIM in Colombia, and obviously my push notifications are not working and my battery drains really fast.
Sorry if I have to many questions…
Will my itunes security copy will restore all my cydia apps and tweaks?
Been trying to download and install SAM 0.1.11-1 but I always get an error code 1: Sub-process/usr/bin/dpkg and in the setting it says there was an error loading the preference bundle for SAM.
    Thanks a million in advance…

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

No, if you restore your device, then all your personal info including your Cydia tweaks/apps will be wiped off. Uninstall SAM first from Cydia & then reinstall it. You will need to uninstall Stockify & ACUtils separately as well.

I have iphone 4, version 4.3.3, bb 04.10.01. jailbroken through redsn0w. have cydia. its locked to T-mobile UK. Now I am in a different country and trying to use local sim. Does SAM help me with this situation?

    •

No, SAM will not help. Your looking for an unlock which you can only by using a Gevey SIM. SAM only activates your iPhone which is crucial for those who do not have the official carrier SIM.

Can I install Sam to fix push notifications and You tube on my Iphone 3gs running on iOS 4.1? From what I am reading it seems to be just for 3gs running on iOS 4.3.3 and above. Thank You

    •

Yes, you can use SAM irrespective of any iOS/iPhone versions to fix push notifications & YouTube.

  •
    Azhar5 years, 1 month ago

My iphone 3GS is already JB at 4.3.3 and unlocked with ultrasnOw. Moreover, I’ve been using it for a month now and its all synced and set with my apps. After reading your post, i’ve now realized that push notifications are not working (i thought it was my iphone).

My question: If i install SAM and follow the steps above to activate wildcard, and then sync with iTunes, will it reset my iphone and make me sync AGAIN all my data and apps (i don’t like restoring from a backup file).

Please clarify so I can decide whether to proceed.

    Thanks a lot!

    •

Are you using an iPT2G? Because I have seen such issues only with the iP2Gs. Pop in an AT&T SIM that already has a subscription attached to it & use it to activate the same. That should work I believe (because I do not come across any iP2Gs anymore). Use PushDoctor. Read http://bit.ly/k2vSGU.

    •

It definitely will work if you have not performed an Hacktivation atleast for the mails. Make sure that you have enabled them form the settings properly. Using official SIMs is the most legitimate way to activate your iPhone via iTunes.

    Hi.

I’m pretty sure my Iphone 3GS is hactivated or something (since I let someone else do it. I wasn’t quite confident in changing the bb to 06.15. And now, I kinda of regret letting him do it for me. But I’m not to worried about it)

I rebooted my device after install SAM (I’m on 4.3.3 w/bb 06.15) and I can’t seem to find the “Revert Lockdown to Stock.” Here’s a screenshot: http://i103.photobucket.com/albums/m158/ShadowNeko003/8f5bb18c.jpg (top says back up activation and bottom says regenerate sim)

Also when I check under More Information, I see that the ActivationState is “WildcardActivated.”

    •

As long as SAM reads Wildcard Activated for your device, you have absolutely nothing to worry about, so cheer up !! :D

ohh okay so now i have to put my device into a Pwned DFU mode. then i restore my iphone using the same custom IPSW through itunes. once done i can jailbrake it using JBMe3 right? i’ll let you know once i’ve done it! :) thanks a lot Pramod! you’re the best!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

You need not use JBMe3 because your custom IPSW is already jailbroken.

  •
    Mimie5 years, 1 month ago

There are 4.1, 4.2.1+, 4.3, 4.3.3., 4.3.4, 4.3.5. I am on ios4.3.3 and i am on ipad BB. So then how? I have to dload a new IPSW which 4.3.3 on ipad BB? But i still have my old 4.3.3 IPSW that i used to jailbreak my current firmware. Can you explain me how to get a custom IPSW?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Yes, use the same custom IPSW that you had used for the earlier JB right now as well. Make sure that you have put your device into a Pwned DFU mode before you start the restore from iTunes. Read this http://bit.ly/pioV9v.

  •
    mimie5 years, 1 month ago

ohh now i get it! so sorry for the troubles earlier. so yeah i can see that in my cydia. so what do i have to do next? i saw a post about jailbreakme. you’ve said earlier that the best to do is i should do a fresh installation on my ios to resolve my problem. so can i use jailbreakme to jalibrake my iphone again? i dont have to use redsnow? i can just restore my iphone on itunes and then jailbrake it using jailbrakeme via safari on my iphone? so sorry for all these questions :(

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Well what do you see? What are the iOS versions that’s listed for you? Use JBMe3 if your on iOS 4.3.3. No, you just cannot restore to any stock iOS version if you have updated your BB to the iPad BB. You will need to use a custom IPSW & so you need not use JBMe3.

    •

No, you need not. Do you have the SHSH blobs for Cydia stored? Do you see iOS 4.3.3 listed here http://bit.ly/p07pX2 when you fire it up?

  •
    Mimie5 years, 1 month ago

Sorry i totally forgot. The first time i jailbrake my 3gs to ios 4.3.3, i used snowbreeze. And then the itunes cannot detect my iphone so i jailbrake it again using redsnow and the same thing happened again. So sorry i got mixed up between snwbreeze and redsnow. So the hacktivation option was in snowbreeze. So now my 3gs is currently jailbroken using redsnow rc15. So i am way too behind right?all i can do is jailbrake it again using rc18? My iphone is not the official carrier sim i am using.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

If your already jailbroken on RC15, you need to do a fresh restore of your iOS first & then use RS to jailbreak your device. Yes, your way behind in terms of the RS version that your using, but you need not perform the jailbreak on your device once again. Let it remain just the way it is for now unless its causing any concerned issues.

  •
    mimie5 years, 1 month ago

ohh. though actually, this itunes restore problem had happened to me twice and i’ve jailbroken my iphone twice. the same thing happened again. at first there is no problem, i could sync my iphone and itunes can detect my iphone. but then there’s this one day when i connect my iphone and itunes cant detect my iphone again for the third time. so im tired of jailbreaking all over again. do you know why? when i was jailbreaking, im not quite sure whether i tick the hacktivation option on redsnow. should i ticked hactivation or shouldnt at the first place? and my 3gs is on ipad baseband

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Which version of Redsn0w are you using? Where is the hacktivation option? Are you sure that your using the latest version of Redsn0w which is RC18?
Also, if you have the official carrier SIM to which your iP4 was actually locked to in the fist place, you need not tick the hacktivate option.

  •

Does this steps also works for itunes that shows error saying that it cannot read my iphone and it suggest me to restore my iphone? Or something like that.
i just plugged my iphone. and there a pop up in itunes. it said, itunes cannot read the content of iphone, go to the summary tab in iphone preferences and click restore to restore this iphone to factory settings. am i using the wrong steps to fix my problem?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

Nope, this is only for those who rely on the Hacktivation. SAM will do no good here. You need to restore your iOS to a fresh installation.

  •
    Mimie5 years, 1 month ago

Does only itunes need to have an internet connection or both, my pc and iphone? SAM stat do you mean ‘SAMState: loaded ok’ ? Or do you mean by activationstate, it says unactivated.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 1 month ago

To get your activation state to WildCard Activated, you need your PC to remain connected to the internet until its stats changes from Unactivated to WildCard Activated. iTunes shouldn’t show any SIM card error messages as well.

  •
    mimie5 years, 1 month ago

everything worked out fine. the stockification is success. but when i plugged it to my pc, nothing happened. so i tried again by tapping revert lockdown to stock. and now the stockification failed. does my iphone have to be on an internet connection when i tap revert to lockdown stock?

    •

What does your SAM stats show? Is it Wildcard Activated? Yes, you need to be connected to the internet for iTunes to be able to activate your iPhone for you after the Stockification Success.

Uninstall SAM first. Now search and uninstall SAM’s dependency as well which are ACUtil & Stockify. Now go back to the repo and download SAM once again. This time you will not have any errors.

  •

It says that when i open up SAM in my setting. Can you explain why? I used the right source. http://repo.bingner.com

Give it a retry after a few hours by deleting the repo & SAM and reinstalling them back later.

    Hi there…

I bought a 3GS locked to AT&T in the us.
On youtube I found a vid, where they unlocked the phone using SAM.
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj95RrC4cSw
I’m running 4.3.3 and BB 05.16.02 as this guy.

I jailbroke my device using: jailbreakme.com.

After installing SAM with Cydia, I receive the “stocificatio failure” when typing revert lockdown to Stock.
I’m shure to load SAM from the right source….

Can somebody help me with this unlock attempt?
Thanks in advance and best regards from Germany,

You need not use SAM at all. Since your having the official carrier SIM to which your iPhone was locked to, you don’t have to use SAM at all & moreover, JBMe3 does not Hacktivate your iDevice. So just ignore SAM & forget about it.

I DID EVERYTHING right. but when i do backup activation it says Error: must be root (probably a packaging problem) — what does this mean. still NO push notifications. argh.

i successfully installed SAM & it is activated(wildcardactivated)but push notifications still not working, could it be because push apps like facebook, CNN were installed prior to SAM installation? should i uninstall them first and should i uninstall sam also?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

No, you need not do that. Did you reboot it after SAM was installed?

  •

The problem appears to be cellular data network because everytime E appears it breaks off the carrier connection and then dissapears and its going in circle every few sconds. Im getting “Can not connect to cellular data network” message.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

Call up your carrier network & activate a data plan for your SIM. In case you have one, make sure you have entered the right APN settings for your carrier to access data & MMS.

Know is working fine..!!! I hope that my Gevey is genuine one. But my battery is decreasing faster than before..!! What could i do? I follow all your advices and before use SAM my battery was working great.!

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

If SAM is causing this issue, uninstall it. Make sure that you set SAM’s setting’s to Hacktivate (Factory Unlocked) before you uninstall.

  •
    Jacir5 years, 2 months ago

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.3.3 and i followed step by step the tutorial and the wildcard activated message appeared at the second or third time. But my battery life is decreasing much than before and i hasn´t change anything just installed SAM.

And the push notification still not working. I used iPhuser and like 20 minutes after the messager arrive but it still not working.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

Are you using a Gevey SIM unlock? If you are, then its the Gevey that’s causing this issue probably because its not a genuine one. Pop in a different Gevey from your friend’s iPhone to see if its still behaving in the same manner. Make sure that your friend isn’t facing any such issues as well. :D

Wolverine, u said SAM is the 1st thing to install to cydia, but ultrasn0w is installed first for the unlock.should i uninstall it first? if so what will happen to my unlock if i uninstall ultrasn0w?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

You need not worry. You can keep the Ultrasn0w installed & install SAM after that. They are totally non-dependent of each other.

If your thinking that SAM will unlock your iP4 for you, then your simply mistaken. SAM will only activate your SIM officially for you via iTunes so that your Push works fine after you have jailbroken. The only way to get your iP4 unlocked is by using a Gevey SIM interposer.

Hi, I’m on 4.3.3, 06.15.00 new bootrom, jb with redsn0w, installed ultrasn0w, SAM says WildcardActivated but my signal keeps going off and on, searching…every few seconds, I didn’t get it to stay on constantly, also it interferes with my Wifi it’s shutting wifi down, I have to take out the card out then turn on my wifi without the card to get on the internet…I’m on T-mobile HR…

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

Keep your 3G toggled OFF. An iPhone’s hardware don’t support the 3G frequency of T-Mobile. Your bound to T-Mobile’s GSM speeds only on your’s/any iPhones out there.

have an Iphone 3GS with firmware v4.1 and problems with battery drainage and overheating when I have the 3G on. I don’t want to upgrade to 4.3.3 if it is not necessary since I have read the new firmware uses more resources and I don’t need the extra features it brings. I want to know if I can install SAM from Cydia using my current firmware v4.1 to activate my phone officially and fix my battery issues or do I need to upgrade to a newer firmware to fix it.

P.S. : I have been using SBSettings to toggle 3G on to keep my device from blowing up.. Thanks in advance for any response

    @Pramod

I tried to follow these steps but I get stuck in the itunes screen. It said it was success when i hit revert lockdown but in the main screen of SAM it says its waiting for response and in Itunes it says that my Sim card is not supported… My firmware is v4.1 my baseband is 05.12….. and my chip is Claro from Dominican Republic but my official carrier phone is AT and T

i just got the sim card by accident

    •

Just put the AT&T SIM into your iPhone and connect it to iTunes. You need to be sure that your iPhone was indeed locked to AT&T. Else activation will fail.

No. As long as you have the official carrrier SIM to which your iPhone was locked to, you need not do this process/SAM.

Hi there, I got a new iphone 4 overseas and I accidentally hit “reset all settings and contents” and now my phone is stuck in the emergency call screen as I do not have the original sim to activate the phone. My iphone 4 version is 4.3.3 and baseband is 04.10.01-ICE_2_13.
Any ways I can bypass the emergency screen, unlock the phone (so that i use my sim suited for my country), and jailbreak possibly? HELP! I’ve been trying all sorts of things but I’m still stuck at the emergency call screen. Im not tech savvy so please help! :(

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

If you don’t have an official carrier SIM, you can skip the Emergency Call screen by simply running Redsn0wRC18. Download it from here http://bit.ly/lMeWpa and run it without ticking any of the options that RS shows you while following this guide http://bit.ly/kPhfh0. You should be successfully Hacktivated and back to your Home Screen. Unfortunately, there is no way to unlock your iPhone other than using the Gevey SIM interposer for your iP4 config.

So I re-installed SAM and I got the button message “restart spring board”. When I checked SAM in Settings, I got the screens 8 and 12 without going through steps 6 and 7 and 9 – 11.
In ur instructions: To get the Revert Lockdownd To Stock message, once your in SAM’s main page, you’ll need to deactivate you factory activated state first (SAM infact shows you this message if you haven’t seen it right there.) –> I could not find about factory activated state. Where do I find this?

EDIT: And just a follow-up, I also synced my iPhone and I didn’t get that message error from iTunes. I also installed iPusher and I got the message in step 14. Does this mean it’s working?

Its fine, as long as you have Backed Up your activation via SAM.
      If you haven’t yet,
      1. Backup your activation details via SAM
      2. Then tap the UnActivate button (Clear Push Data in brackets)
      3. Restore your activation back via SAM again.
Wildcard activated is what SAM needs to show you always. Push checking apps do get at times buggy as well, so nevermind.

  •
    Waleed5 years, 2 months ago

hey does it have to be firmware 4.3.3!?

No, it doesn’t need to be. SAM is not iOS/iPhone model specific. Did you check whether your Push works using iPusher from the AppStore?

Hey Pramod, I got the same issue as Zi’s. What do u mean by “Uninstall and Reinstall SAM from the bingner repo only”? Can I do this through Cydya’s Modify button, which allows to Reinstall or Remove?

    cheers

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

Yes exactly !! What I meant by the line Uninstall and Reinstall SAM from the bingner repo only was, you see SAM is also available as packages in many other well less frequently updated repos which still hosts older/buggy versions of the SAM which will definitely not work the way it should. You get the drift right? So make sure that you always use/download the latest version of SAM, always use Bingner’s repo.
Yes, the Reinstall/Remove is precisely what I was talking about.

  •
    Andre5 years, 2 months ago

When was installing SAM, cydia didn’t ask to reboot device; it showed another button, which description I forgot (it was like “push to go back to Cydya).

When I go to Settings -> SAM -> Utilities, I don’t have the “Revert Lockdown to Stock button”. I just have Backup Activation, De-Activate iPhone and Restore Activation, some text, and Regenerate SIM at the end.

    What did I do wrong?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

The button was Return to Cydia, possibly because that wasn’t your first time installing SAM on that particular iDevice. To get the Revert Lockdownd To Stock message, once your in SAM’s main page, you’ll need to deactivate you factory activated state first (SAM infact shows you this message if you haven’t seen it right there.).

    Hello,
Thanx for all the info here, but i got a little confused now.

The main purpose for me of using the GEVEY sim was to unlock the phone without having to JB/Unlock via software, but it seems that in order for it to fully function, it IS NEEDED to install some Cydia “tweaks” (like the CallerID and SAM)… ergo, having to JB and consequently have the option of an easy unlock. Doesn’t this defeat the purpose of GEVEY???.

I don’t quite understand what SAM is REALLY for… i understand it says for ACTIVATION (different than unlock or JB apparently) but, is that really necessary?

I have an iPhone 4, iOS 4.3.3(8J2) BB 04.10.01 and currently using GEVEY and not yet JailBroken… also how safe is it to JB now that iOS 5 is comming up. Is there a chance that JailBroken iPhones will not be able to update??

What steps would you recommend me to do? because i would like to have all features working as well (CallerID, FaceTime, PushNotifications, etc..)

    Thanx for your time

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

The JB necessity is the case only for the Gevey Ultra ONLY because the tweak that you’ll install from Cydia(FuriousMod) automates the 112 dialing procedure for you so that you don’t have to do it manually everytime you reboot your device. This is not the case for every other Gevey that came before the Ultra which is currently the latest version of the Gevey. SAM is necessary to get your iPhone officially activated via iTunes. A JB will skip this part and Hacktivates it for you. More or less like a temporary activation fix to complete the jailbreak which is necessary to skip the Emergecny Call screen in case you din’t have the original SIM in the first place. Else, if you continue with the Hacktivation, your battery starts to drain at a very fast rate because your iPhone will try to get the activation certs continuously over your GPRS/Wi-Fi/3G.
Jailbroken device can always be updated to the future iOS’s provided you already know its consequences like loosing an unlock if you rely on it/loosing the jailbreak forever because the latest iOS will not have it as soon as its public.
      Use SAM for activating FT/Push.

If your stuck at the Emergency call screen, you’ll need to pop in your official SIM that came locked with your iPhone and connect to iTunes. It’ll then officially activate your iPhone with Apple and skip the Emergency Call screen.

You must choose the carrier name of the country from which you have brought your locked iPhone. For example, if your having an US iPhone, you’ll need to choose the AT&T bundle. Does SAM auto-activate for you? have you tried it as well?

i used SAM on the GEVEY with ios 4.3.3 and find out that my carrier is o2 uk and i used the bundle named o2 prepaid uk and coonect to itunes it shows that there is the problem with your iphone it is damaged and when i check the warranty it shows that warranty is till oct 11 my serial is 85039EHWA4S and model is MC603B
    what this means?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 2 months ago

Its simply because you have chosen the wrong bundle. Alternatively, you should choose a different bundle option which suggests an O2 UK carrier. Nothing’s wrong with your iPhone though.

    Hi,

I bought an unlocked 3GS, and just filled it with all my data (music, photos, apps, etc) that I had on my old at&t iPhone 2G, which I lost.

If I follow the steps above to install SAM to fix push notifications, will I lose all that data and the unlock?

Im sure I could get the data back, but don’t know how to unlock, so want to make sure.

As I had mentioned in my earlier comment, SAM only needs to be used if in case you do not have the official carrier SIM with which your iPhone came locked with. Your iPhone can still be officially activated by using the same SIM via iTunes to get your Push working.
You’ll first need to De-activate your iPhone via SAM and make sure that once its done, the status says UnActivated. After that, go ahead and uninstall SAM and Reboot. You should now be on the Emergency Call screen. Pop in your official SIM into your iPhone whilst remaining connected to iTunes. If everything goes well, iTunes will not return with an Invalid SIM error and your Push will be working just fine.

Restore to a completely fresh iOS 4.3.3 and activate the iPhone with your AT&T SIM only. Do not keep the Gevey inside the iPhone whilst Restoring. Keep only the AT&T with the original SIM tray.

There is not a “Revert Lockdown to Stock” button under utilities.
    I see only

    backup activation
    de-activate iphone
    restore activation
    regenerate sim.

I also checked everywhere, which a revert lockdown to stock button does not seems to be found.

    •

Are you sure? Because it should be there right under the Utilities section. Uninstall and Reinstall SAM from the bingner repo only.

I’m currently on step 9. which I have to plug the iPhone to my PC. My phone is Gevey SIM unlocked and hacktivated with snowbreeze 2.7./ I do all the steps correctly but itunes tells me “The SIM card inserted in this phone does not appear to be supported” and it also says to get a original SIM from the store.

Is there something I’m maybe missing? IPhone 4 on IOS 4.3.3 gevey SIM

    •

Are you at the EmergencyCall screen by any chance? I know you told its Hacktivated, but just confirming.

      •
        Brayhan5 years, 3 months ago

No I’m not its already hacktivated I have SAM and did all the steps but it seems not to work, tried with the official SIM activation and did it also and did not work either.

        •
          Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Does SAM show you that its Wildcard Activated ?

          •
            Brayhan5 years, 3 months ago

            It says Unactivated

          •
            Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

If you were hacktivated, then SAM should read Factory Unlocked instead of Unactivated. Unactivated simply means its not yet activated via iTunes. If you have the official SIM that came locked with your iPhone, you need not use SAM. Its only for those who don’t have an official SIM but are still looking to activate them officially.
Now if it still says Unactivated, go ahead and uninstall SAM and Reboot. You should now be on the Emergency Call screen. Now, pop in your official SIM into your iPhone whilst remaining connected to iTunes. If everything goes well, iTunes will not return with an Invalid SIM error.

If SAM is not able to get your Push activated, use PushDoctor instead by following this guide http://bit.ly/k2vSGU. You’ll need to wait for the unique certs needs to get refilled if the first try dint work for you.

    •

Re-jailbreak your device with Redsn0wRC16, that will get you Hacktivated and into your iPhone. (If you had restored prior to getting this screen, you have lost everything that was there on your iPhone already because a Restore will erase everything and default your iPhone back to factory settings.)

That’s weird, your Push is already up and enabled. For which app is it not working? Make sure you haven’t disabled PushNotifications from the Settings.

Make sure your using the latest FB app, 3.1 or greater because the earlier versions never supported Push Notifications. Upon opening the app, you’ll be asked if you want to enable push notifications as well right in the beginning. Did you get that prompt?

Activation …Plz guide me to fix it …Thankx

    •

Its because you need to use official activation which you can achieve via SAM/PushDoctor. Unless your iPhone is not officially activated, your FaceTime will remain at Waiting For Activation status.

    Hi pramod….
SAM works great on my iPhone with iOS 4.3.3.. notifications work. How ever the battery is draining much faster after installation of SAM. Any solution?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Have a look at this post here http://bit.ly/mootZv to know how you can save your battery life on iOS 4.3.3.

      •
        Nrupesh5 years, 3 months ago

I did the following things yesterday
        1. Restore ios 4.3.3 with pwnage 4.3.3.1. (no battery draining problem)
        2. Installed SAM and got the Push notifications working and then slept (the battery drained by 10% in the morning (9.5 hrs of sleep)
        3. Recharged by battery 100%
        4. Put my exchange account in, gmail, facebook and messaging app (imo.im)(the battery was okay for an hr and then the battery drain started.
        5. Searched the net frantically for battery saving tips- did the following (no effect on battery drain)
        a. Changed push email to fetch email
        b. Switched off ping in restrictions (i am not sure how it works)
        c. Switched off the location services
        6. Swtich off 3G and data….It works great..no battery drain at all..awesome battery life
        7. I dont have any other Cydia app (apart from SAM and installous 4).
        8. Tried the link you have provided – No avail
How do i solve the battery drain problem. Please help

        •
          Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

3G & Data services definitely consumes enough of your battery life. Its even worse if the service signals are very low in your area because then your iPhone continuously searches for a signal which increase the battery drainage. Always use 3G only when you want to and Switch them OFF when not required. No app/tweak will help you with the battery issue since its all h/w and depends on what you run within the iOS. Don’t install too many Cydia tweaks because they consume battery at a faster rate as well (esp the ones related with background animations, appearances, heavy thems & so on). Use only those which are only needed & useful to you.

            Thanks
Please let me know if using SAM drains the battery? also how much effect does push email and IM apps have on the battery?
The battery drain currently with SAM, IM and Push Email is 5 minutes for every 1% (at standby level)..which is to say..its really really frustrating

          •
            Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

SAM infact stops your battery drainage which happens due to unofficial activations called Hacltivate implemented by jailbreaks to skip the Emergency Call screens. So no, SAM definitely will not cause any battery drainage issues. Deactivate Push, IM & use them only when necessary. Your battery definitely pays a price when Push & IM’s constantly connects to the Internet to update your iPhone with alerts.

Update: I tried a SIM from a different carrier and it’s still not working. I used my SIM in another phone and it does work. Is it possible that the cell radio is a gonner? Is there any way to test that?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Don’t think anything is wrong with the phone since it did work for you for a week. At this point of time, a fresh custom restore suits as a solution. Custom restore to iOS 4.3.3 and check Ultrasn0w. That should definitely solve your problem.

  •
    Hector5 years, 3 months ago

    Hi,

I enabled restrictions so that it wouldnt look for push notifications. I also disabled mobile substrate addons in sbsettings. I have undone those changes, done a system restore to a custome firmware using 4.3.3 and snowbreeze with normal 5.13 bb, and now I even tried updating to ipad bb. I still get the same errors. Sometimes I get invalid SIM, or SIM failure, but most of the time it only shows up with one bar of signal strength, but there is no phone functionallity. I have no idea what else to try. I want to update to IOS5 see if that works. But I’m not sure what the implications to that is. Since now I am on iPad BB, and I depend on an unlock since I bought a US iPhone, and I am living in China at the moment. Thanks for your help

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Do you have Wi-Fi/Bluetooth functionality? Or are they greyed out as well just like the Phone? Updating to the iOS 5 won’t seem to help either. Try out a different SIM of another carrier to see of it behaves the same way.

      •
        Hector5 years, 3 months ago

I have tried a SIM from the same carrier and it behaves the same…I will try a different one. But the SIM that I was using was working perfectly for the last week. The only reason it stopped working was because it turned off. The WiFi is working, and bluetooth seems to be working as well.

Help! My 3GS with 4.3.3 is not working! I updated to 4.3.3 and the battery started draining very fast. I made some modifications to the settings and it went back to normal for a while. Last night it drained completely, when I got home to charge the phone it came back up, but with one bar of signal, but I wasn’t able to make calls. I have used SAM to activate the phone, and I did not get Sim Error. But now the phone says SIM failure and I can’t figure out why!?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

What kind of modifications did you try out to stop the battery issue? I feel that its something to do with these modifications that you tried out. Follow this guide http://bit.ly/mootZv instead to solve your battery life issues. The SIM & the unlock seems to work fine. Work out a complete custom restore on your iPhone to undo all the changes that you may have made and then follow the linked guide to solve your battery issues.

Use SAM to get you Push working. Follow this guide http://bit.ly/mDpDwr. For MMS, you’ll need to figure out if your carrier has it enabled for you and that you have received the settings specific to your iPhone as well for MMS.

Have you enabled MMS on your iPhone firstly?
Enable the MMS option on your mobile from Settings>>Messages>>MMS Messaging.

  •

Ok I read it carefully again I did all the settings under cellular data section the problem is there is no mms option in the photo library and there is no camera icon in the massage composing area which is used to add a photo .

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

The MMS option is NOT inside the Photo Library/Messages.
      1. You need to take a pic/ choose a picture from your PhotoLibrary
      2. Tap the left bottom icon that you use to Send.
      3. A menu pops-up and choose MMS from there.
      There you go. :)

now turn for mms !! mr pramod there is no mms icon and no mms option under massage on my iphone 4 would u plz help me …

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

      For MMS,
Goto Settings>>General>>Network>>Cellular Data Network>>Now under Cellular Data you will see two sections Cellular Data and MMS.
These sections will be the ones you will have to edit with you carrier settings. After that, you can send the MMS right form your Photo Library or any other MMS supported app.

I have done ‘Revert Lockdown to Stock’

then my phone goes to the lock screen with ITUNES/cable logo.

and i can only make emergency call.

    What mode is this?

    Please help me.

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

This is the Emergency Call screen mode. Do you by any chance have the official carrier SIM which came along with your locked iPhone ? If you have it, pop it in and connect the phone to iTunes. If not, run Redsn0wRC16 without checking any of the options presented to you while jialbreaking. Just give it a run and your good to go. Good Luck. :)

    Hello,

I just got my Gevey TurboSIM.
After getting signal from carrier, I’m trying the following steps.
I get an error in step 9 after connecting to iTunes. Says that I need to contact AT&T and that the phone cannot be activated.

    Any ideas?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

You don’t need to activate the Gevey. It will work just fine. SAM is used for official activation purposes only. If you have the original carrier locked AT&T SIM, you need not worry. Just pop it in an iTunes will activate it for you. :)

      •
        Iceman5 years, 3 months ago

That’s the problem, the original AT&T SIM is too old and doesn’t activate.
        What should I do?
        It’s an iPhone 4 with 4.3.3 firmware.
I tried removing the Gevey SIM before SAM activation and still doesn’t work…

        •
          Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

The AT&T SIM, no matter how old will be able to get any iPhone activated. I would suggest you to grab your friends AT&T SIM and try out the same to see if iTunes still returns the same error. I hope your not stuck at the Emergency Call screen.

      •
        Iceman5 years, 3 months ago

I’m not stuck at the “Plug to iTunes” screen”.
Real AT&T SIM doesn’t work, spoofing a real SIM with SAM doesn’t work.
Selecting country or bundle doesn’t work.
This is a fresh installation of iOS 4.3.3.

        Any other ideas?

        •
          Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

What about grabbing an AT&T SIM from your friend and popping it in? Right now, your just not able to use iTunes due to the error right? Try an AT&T SIM from any of your friend. That’s the best way to resolve this issue. Why don’t you try it and let us know? :)

          •
            Iceman5 years, 3 months ago

Tried with another AT&T card. Nothing works!
I restored to fresh iOS and still no luck.

            Any more ideas?

          •
            Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Your saying AT&T doesn’t work? You sure the iPhone was locked to AT&T earlier? No worries, What’s the Model Number of your iPhone?

          •
            Iceman5 years, 3 months ago

It was Hacktivated. I tried restoring to IPSW without hacktivation and nothing could activate the device.
            The model number is: MC321LL

            FW: 4.3.3
            BB: 02.10.04

          •
            Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Iceman, tell me one thing, Are you stuck at an Emergency Screen? If not and everything else is working fine, why would you want to try SAM to activate the phone once again if its hacktivated already? Or have you tried restoring to a fresh copy and now your stuck at the Emergency Call screen? (I’m not talking about the DFU screen (completely black)/Recovery screen (Only iTunes logo and cable, No slide bar for Emergency Calls)).

          •
            Iceman5 years, 3 months ago

The answer is simple – I don’t want to be hacktivated because push doesn’t work this way.
The phone works perfectly, I’m just trying to fix push.
Is there another way to fix it?

          •
            Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Try this, a combination of PushDoctor & iPusher. Download PushDoctor off Cydia to fix your PushNotifications. Once done, make sure you reboot your device. After that verify if the Push fix has worked by downloading iPusher off the AppStore. If it returns “Yay, Push Notifications Work” your good to go. :)

          •
            Iceman5 years, 3 months ago

            Tried PushDoctor, Reboot, then iPusher.
            No luck…

Any other ideas? I think of selling the device already…

          •
            Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

SAM & the official locked SIM are the 2 perfect ways to get your Push up and running. Don’t give up hope. If nothing works, Custom restore your iPhone with the Hacktivated option as your last move. It should work fine hopefully.

          •
            Iceman5 years, 3 months ago

Being a computer tech, I can assure you that I have tried everything.
I sold the device today (making a $100 profit, btw) after all trials concluded with the same error in iTunes.
Thanks for the support, I’ll post again if the new device gives me hard time too.

Once you have successfully installed SAM on your iPhone, navigate to Settings » SAM » Utilities and tap on “Revert Lockdown to Stock” button. You will see “Stockification Success” message. If you see Stockification Failure message then it means you have not installed correct version of SAM on your iPhone. Hope it helps. :)

    Hello !

Next week I will get new iphone 4 from USA (99% with AT&T simlock),I don’t know what iOS and BB it will have… I have question about activate.
Tomorrow I’m going to buy gevey sim for it. SAM will work with iPhone 4 activated by sn0wbreeze 2.7.3 right ?
    Your tutorial: http://jaxov.com/2011/05/how-to-use-sn0wbreeze-2-7-to-jailbreak-ios-4-3-3-on-windows-untethered/

P.S. I found somewhere information that some iPhones 4 from USA have already AT&T card inside (probably unactivated) Can I use them to activate ?

    •
      Pramod5 years, 3 months ago

Yes, you can use the AT&T sim that comes with the iPhone to activate via iTunes. You don’t require SAM as long as you have the original carrier SIM to which your iPhone is locked to.

    Thanks a lot!! :D

    •

SAM is not baseband dependent. It will work on all iPhone 4/3GS running any bb version. Cheers :D

This happens when your iPhone is hactivated and not officially activated via iTunes. To officially activate your iPhone, you must use SAM. Make sure its WildCard Activated. Follow this guide to officially activate via iTunes http://bit.ly/klvd8T

    Hi.

Actually I have installed in my iPhone iOS 4.3.3 with Modem Firmware 04.10.01,,,,

Once I installed my iTunes didnot work and after I installed SAM it worked out..

So now I don’t have service I mean in iPhone the carrier is not showing.

So how can I unlock my iPhone? Is anybody can help me with that?

    Thanks,

    Jon.

    •
      Patrick5 years, 3 months ago

SAM will only activate your iPhone. It will not unlock your iPhone. To unlock your iPhone 4 baseband 04.10.01, you need to use Gevey SIM http://bit.ly/keuKZn

SAM will not unlock your iPhone, it just activates it. Also Ultrasn0w will not unlock your iPhone unless your iPhone has unlockable baseband. What is the current baseband version of your iPhone?

    Hi,
    Thanks for all these infos.
    But i have a problem.
I have an iphone 3gs 4.3.3 jailbroken with redsnow.
I downloaded SAM and everything went well.
But when i connect my iphone to itunes, i have “the sim card not supported” message.
    I don’t understand why!!!
I’m waiting for your reply, please!

    Thanks,

Yes you can activate your iPhone using SAM even if you are unlocked with Gevey. Before you may use SAM, remove Gevey SIM interposer from your iPhone and only put your unofficial SIM card in your iPhone.

You must have done a reboot or respring after step 7? Right? When your iPhone was syncing fine and YouTube was also working fine then your ActivationStatus was WildcardActivated. At that time, all you needed is to follow this guide to enable Push Notifications http://bit.ly/jQ2Lzd

Can I still do SAM activation if I have already installed Appstore apps and Cydia packages on my phone, or does it have to be on a fresh restore? I have not even synced to setup my phone through itunes yet for the first time so it is a fairly recent restore if that helps. Will it still work if I install SAM and “revert to lockdown state” to unhactivate and then connect to my computer for itunes activation? Thanks.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

You can activate your iPhone using SAM but after activation, you need to re-install apps which support Push Notifications. Just remove all apps which support Push Notifications -> Reboot -> Revert to lockdown state -> Sync with iTunes -> Reboot -> Install iPusher -> Reboot -> Connect to Wifi -> Check Push Notifications -> Install all previous apps.

      •
        OC5 years, 4 months ago

Should I have ‘notifications’ option under ‘settings’ turned on or off when I use SAM? Also, you say to delete all push supported apps then run SAM, but what should I do about Gamecenter turn the notifications off under settings or leave it on when applying SAM? Thanks.

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Of-course YES, you need to turn ON notifications in Settings app. You don’t need to uninstall Gamecenter. Just uninstall any other App (Which support Push Notifications) you have installed from App Store and then try activating your iPhone using SAM. Once activated, re-install apps from App Store.

    •

Original SIM card? You mean legitimate carrier SIM? If you have it then why you have hacktivated your iPhone. You can always take it out after activating your iPhone using iTunes (NOT SAM)

Can anybody please help. I also have a problem according this Issue:

At step 9/10 itunes just won’t activate my phone. It dispays the message: The SIM car inserted in this iPhone does nog appear to be supported.

I’ve got a factory locked iphone and do not have the original SIM. I have a gevey SIM which I want to use for unlock. (already got this working without push)

    This is what i’ve done:
-I restored to 4.3.3 with tiny umbrella to keep my baseband at 02.10.04.
    – After this procedure the phone couldn’t be activated by itunes because i dont have the original SIM. So I jailbreaked (and hacktivated) with redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc16

    – Then I followed this guide and also tried the folowing:
    — Reboot after step 7
    — Just my t-mobile_nl SIM without gevey
    — auto detect and also by country and provider

But all my effords didn’t help. Everytime at step 9/10 itunes won’t accept my SIM and won’t activate.

All help is welcome. The only thing I want to solve is that that push notifications wil work in my situation.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Who asked you to reboot your iPhone after step 7? All the certs generated by SAM expired on reboot and this is why you are unable to activate your iPhone. Anyways, if for some reason manual country and carrier selection is also not working then either try another carrier SIM card near you or install Push Doctor using this guide http://bit.ly/m6o6XG

Hi, I have an iphone 4 on iOS 4.3.3 baseband 4.10.1. I am also waiting on a Gevey Pro Sim to unlock my phone. I was reading the above post by Iceman and you replied, “Yes you can use SAM+Gevey simultaneously. There are no compatibility issues.” What order do you do this in? Do I first activate using SAM with my T-mobile sim card only(no Gevey) and then unlock with Tmobile sim card with Gevey, or do I keep both Tmobile/Gevey sim in through both activation/unlock? Also, will I notice any differences versus “hactivating” since I have an iphone 4, what improvements will I see? Thanks for your help.

    •
      OC5 years, 4 months ago

      * Also, are you confirming compatibility because you have tried using SAM and Gevey together and were successful? Because I have gone through almost every forum online but haven’t been able to find it confirmed working. Thanks again.

      •
        Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

I can confirm they both work flawlessly. To activate your iPhone using SAM, you only need a SIM with IMSI and ICCID supported by SAM (You don’t even need an unlocked iPhone). I activated my AT&T locked iPhone 4 (03.10.01 bb+iOS 4.3.3) using O2 SIM card. Cheers :D

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

I activated my locked iPhone 4 using SAM by first putting the unofficial SIM card alone (without Gevey). Once activated, you can insert the SIM card with Gevey to unlock your iPhone.

Hey there! I have an iPhone 3G running on IOS 4.2.1 with battery issues as well. I have tried to add the repo http://repo.bingner.com but Cydia cannot find it, it gives me an error message and then it clears out all of my resources for which i have to re-jailbreak my iphone. I’ve done this a thousand times and still cannot install the repo, no mistyping or anything .. Heeeeeeeelp! :(

After tapping on Restore Activation button, you must reboot your iPhone and then sync it with iTunes *atleast once*.

        – Connect to Itunes.
        – Uninstall ipusher.
        – Restart

        – Test push notifications, and it’s ok, thanks. I hop battery draining stop.

ive installed ultrasn0w and SAM but still have no signal bars, i tried the method by country and carrier to UK and orange but still no bars, any ideas?

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

SAM wont unlock your iPhone. You should use Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 to unlock your unlockable baseband. If Ultrasn0w fails to unlock your iPhone then it means it either your baseband is not unlockable or you did some mistake while jailbreaking your iPhone.

  •
    Vanya5 years, 4 months ago

The guide works perfectly for me; iPusher shows that push notifications are working.
The problem occurs when I install ultrasn0w and unlock my iPhone 3GS (4.3.3 BB 6.15)
    Shows an application error.

    Steps I followed were:
-restore to custom 4.3.3 with sn0wbreeze, hacktivate option enabled
    – install sam, then run the necessary steps as above
-backup/restore acktivation to fix the brown writing
From that point, notifications work, however, when I unlock with ultrasn0w, iPusher fails.
    Any help with that please?

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Nops. Ultrasn0w has nothing to do with iPusher or Push Notifications. Why don’t you try to install Ultrasn0w first *after fresh CFW restore* and then activate your iPhone using SAM?

      •
        Vanya5 years, 4 months ago

        I’ve fixed it =]
After following all the steps in your guide, I decided to use the ‘Deactivate’ option in redsn0w.
Then I just reran SAM and all is well. Thanks very much!

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

With the new version of SAM, you do not need to use Redsn0w to deactivate your iPhone. When u revert lockdown to stock, it means you are deactivating or factory activating ur iPhone.

I bought my IP4 in UK with O2.. brought it back to Malaysia, jailbroken with redsnow, using gevey sim, activated using SAM, everything is going good,

            i think i figure out why i cannot facetime…
my number is not registered YET with my local provider…all because my EDGE and 3G is not functioning..is it because m using gevey turbosim? the E or 3G icon is not showing… all the network data have been turned on

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

To use 3G and EDGE with Gevey SIM, go to Settings -> General -> Network and Turn ON Enable 3G, Cellular Data and Data Roaming. Once done, go to Settings -> Phone and enter your number in My Number field. Turn FaceTime ON (It will take max 5 mins to activate FaceTime on your iPhone). I am assuming that you have activated your iPhone using SAM. To use FaceTime, you must be connected to a Wifi with an active internet connection.

    Hey,

I do everything like it is explained in your tutorial, but in the end I just get “ActivationState: Activated”. NOT WildcardActicated. Push isn’t working. After I reboot my Iphone I get the status: “ActivationState: MismatchedICCID”.

I already tried manual mode, but nothing worked.

I hope you can help me :(

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

You activated using different SIM and once activated, you have used a different SIM. Right? Go to SAM -> Utilities and choose De-Activate iPhone. Repeat the above procedure and make sure not to unplug or change the SIM after activation. Every SIM has its own IMSI and ICCID.

      •
        Reppis5 years, 4 months ago

        Thanks for your reply!

No, I just used one SIM. The first time I started SAM it was possible to Backup my activation. But now this option is missing in the utilities. Whats the reason for that? May there be a problem with push doctor i tried before (but now i already used a new jailbreak)? Its an Iphone4 with FW 4.3.3. On an 3GS everything worked fine and there is still the Option to Backup in the utilities.

Or maybe it just be my really old SIM thats Making those Problems?

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Just restore your iPhone again. Do NOT install Push Doctor. The first thing you should do after restore is to install SAM. If it still not work the install Push Doctor. I don’t think old SIM have an effect on SAM activation because every SIM has its own ICCID and IMSI. Do NOT press spoof real SIM to SAM button.

          •
            Reppis5 years, 4 months ago

I did a full restore without using my previous backup. The first thing I install is SAM. But the problem is the same :(

Im also wondering why my SAM start screen looks different than yours. In the picture on step 8 I have got the option to “hacktivate”. Why is that option missing on those screenshots?

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

There is no option missing in the above screenshots and if you are still getting ActivationState: MismatchedICCID then it means your SIM is either too old or is not compatible with SAM. Try changing your SIM card and activate your iPhone. Also show me the screenshot of that hacktivate option. I never saw that before.

What should i do? i am struck now

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

You need to choose your country and carrier manually. To do that:
      1. Open SAM
      2. Go to Method menu
      3. Choose By Country and Carrier and hit the back button
      4. Choose Country menu and select your country. Hit the back button
      5. Choose Carrier menu and select your carrier.
      6. Activate your iPhone by connecting to iTunes. DO NOT close SAM.

If the above steps do not work, try to borrow some other carrier SIM from your friend and activate your iPhone.

      •
        J5 years, 4 months ago

I have the same problem for my iPhone 2g. Also, my carrier is not listed – possibly because this carrier didnt exist when the iphone 2g was launched. You suggest borrowing a SIM but you mention in another post that the same SIM must be used after activation. So which is it? And if I can’t use this 2 sim method does that mean there is no way to do it?

And thank you for the support. You are very kind.

First i am not sure if SAM is compatible with iPhone 2G. 2ndly, if you try the SIM card of another carrier, there is no issue in that. If the SIM card of other carrier manages to activate your iPhone, you can safely remove it and put the old SIM card back in your iPhone.

    Hi,
I tried all the steps here, but after step 8, when i connected my iphone it did not show the activation screen. It simply took me to the contents of my phone. Though Wildcard entry was there. I am not sure what it was before that.

    Any suggestions

If it is Wildcard Activated then you should not worry about anything else. Its done :)

    Hello,

I’m following the steps, which worked perfectly on my 3Gs, on a AT&T iPhone 4 (with custom 4.3.3 IPSW).
Stockification succeeds, when connecting to iTunes it says that it cannot be activated.
I tried with manual carrier selection and same error.
I tried with original AT&T SIM that came with the phone – “SIM is not recognized”.
I tried with “spoof real SIM” – “SIM is not recognized”.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks

I think your iPhone has been already activated using official carrier SIM. It was never hacktivated before.

      •
        Iceman5 years, 4 months ago

Yes, that make sense. So I can uninstall SAM?
What do I need to do to get iTunes let me sync the device?

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

If you are officially activated, then there is no need to use SAM. Just uninstall SAM and use official SIM to activate.

            Iceman5 years, 4 months ago

I did a complete restore to custom IPSW.
When it finished SAM said it’s hacktivated, then I stockified.
So far no SIM card was inserted.
I have an original SIM but iTunes doesn’t accept it (AT&T).

So the question is: If the phone was previously activated with original SIM, then restored to another IPSW, did it lose the activation?

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Yep it loses activation as it is now hacktivated. Also you did a mistake, before installing SAM and before stockifiying, you need to insert UNOFFICIAL carrier SIM into your iPhone.

            Iceman5 years, 4 months ago

            So that’s my mistake.

Should I uninstall SAM, insert an unofficial SIM and then install SAM and try to do wildcard activation?

I got SAM working on my iphone 4 iOS 4.1. I installed iPusher and everything works fine now. One thing I still can’t figure out, the push notifications on facebook don’t seem to work. My yahoo messenger, mail and youtube seem to be working just fine. Can you please tell me what went wrong? I have turned on the notifications on my iphone 4.

Since SAM is activated well on your iPhone (Mail, YT & YM works), I say its something to do with FB’s app. Make sure nothing you installed is troubling FB app. Some installation might break the Push on other apps as well. Since this is only FB specific and all othe Push works just fine across the phone, give it a re-try by re-installing the app and let me know.

If the phone is locked to AT&T, can I still insert an unofficial SIM and try SAM activation?

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Why you would do that? If you have AT&T SIM, use that to activate your iPhone. SAM is equivalent to activating your iPhone with any official SIM card. SIM is only for hacktivated iDevices and those who do not rely on unlock do not hacktivate their iPhones.

        •

The problem is that iTunes doesn’t activate with the original AT&T SIM, it tells me to go to an AT&T store. i guess that the SIM card hasn’t been used for a long time and is blocked or something.

I am waiting for a Gevey Turbo SIM to be shipped to me. Once I get it, can I use SAM to activate the phone? (right now it’s hacktivated and SAM is not installed after a fresh custom IPSW restore to 4.3.3)

          Thanks

Yep, it your AT&T SIM is expired or not active anymore, it is useless. Yes you can use SAM+Gevey simultaneously. There are no compatibility issues. Cheers :)

    hi

    i enter http://repo.bingner.com & this came out

    Did Not Find Repository
The indicared respository could not be found. This could be because you are trying to add a legacy installer repository (these are not supported). Also, this interface is only capable of working with exact repository urls.

:( pls help me… my push notifications are not working at all.. not even for facebook/mail/whatsapp.. everything is switched on..

When you Restore Activation, restart and then sync your iPhone with iTunes. Also make sure you are connected to a Wi-Fi with active internet connection.

It means your SAM is not installed on your iPhone. Which tool you used to jailbreak your iPhone and also is it hacktivated?

  •
    garry5 years, 4 months ago

is this only for activate or for unlock too??????
acctually i upgrade 3gs(ipad bb) to 4.3.3 and done this process.. evrything is done okay n wildcard activation is done.. but my iphone is still locked..,,???

      garry5 years, 4 months ago

      m just confused,,i update my 3gs (sn0wbreeze_iPhone 3GS-4.3.3),,it was activated,,n i unlocked with ultrasn0w its perfect,,
      but i wanna know
      1. SAM activation and activation by build own ipsw with sn0wbreze is same???
      2. if iphone is not activated( only for emergengy calls) how we can go to cydia to activate or to install SAM??

      thx ,,

      •
        Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

When you restored your iPhone with custom IPSW, it was not activated -> It was hacktivated actually.
        1. No, activation though SAM is the real activation and what Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool do -> They hacktivate your iPhone
        2. For that you must have a hacktivated iDevice. You can remove hacktivation when you install SAM. To do that just go to SAM -> Utilities and tap on Revert Lockdown to Stock button.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Activate and unlock are two different things. Activation just means to bypass the emergency call screen and unlock means to use unofficial carrier SIM card on your iPhone. To unlock your iPhone 3GS with iPad baseband, you must install Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 by using this guide http://bit.ly/itMs7o

    Hey again,

    Now I have 2 dilemmas

I followed this step by step for SAM and everything happened in accordance except the iPusher app doesn’t say “yay push notifications work fine”

It just does what the other commenter said about please wait appearing in white then brown

I even went to the SAMPrefs app > utilities > the tap on backup > tap on restore but iPusher doesn’t say the thing

Another thing is how do I get MMS for my t-mobile phone?

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

First: To use iPusher, you must be connected to Wi-Fi with an active internet connection. Also when you backup and restore activation through SAM, you should be connected to your PC. If it not works for the first time, do not worry, give it another try!
2ndly: To enable MMS, all you need is to go to Settings -> General -> Network -> Cellular Data (ON) -> Cellular Data Network -> Enter your MMS APN, Username and password according to your operator. If this method doesn’t work, use instructions here http://bit.ly/id8ZdC

      •
        Domino5 years, 4 months ago

Alright thanks for the SAM info but i might come back about the MMS because the method you posted and the link don’t work

I have the modmyi resource originally but legacy is not in it and I don’t wanna SSH unless I’ve found another solution

but damn this a lot of stuff to get an unlocked iPhone working well

        but thanks again

First I get please wait in white letters and then a few moments later in brown. But nothing else.

    My notifications are on.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

It means Push Notification are not working. To fix this, go to SAM » Utilities and tap on Backup Activation button followed by a tap on Restore Activation button. Once your iPhone resprings, re-install iPusher app to test Push Notifications.
