Jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 on Windows Using Sn0wbreeze 2.6 [Untethered] [How-To Guide]

iH8sn0w has just released Sn0wbreeze 2.6 to jailbreak iOS 4.3.2 on all iDevices except iPad 2. Just like Redsn0w 0.9.6RC13 & RC14, Sn0wbreeze 2.6 is also based on i0n1c's untethered jailbreak exploit which Apple failed to fix in iOS 4.3.2. With Sn0wbreeze 2.6, you can create iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSW which on restore through iTunes will not only jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.3.2 but will also preserve its current baseband.

Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (Main)

Prerequisite Downloads:

  • Download and install iTunes 10.2.2 for Windows
  • Download Sn0wbreeze 2.6 for Windows XP, Vista and 7
  • [Do praise iH8sn0w work by considering some advertisements on his official website]

  • Download stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW for iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G & 1st-Gen iPad

Steps to Create iOS 4.3.2 Custom IPSW Using Sn0wbreeze 2.6:

  1. Place Sn0wbreeze-v2.6.exe and iOS 4.3.2 stock IPSW for your iDevice on your desktop.
  2. Launch Sn0wbreeze tool and click on the Next button to select stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW for your iDevice. You can select stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW either by dragging it into Drag an IPSW into me! section or by choosing it manually using the Browse button.
  3. Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (Browse IPSW)

  4. In this case, i will be jailbreaking my iPhone 4 on iOS 4.3.2, so i will be choosing stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW for iPhone 4. To avoid any confusion, the name of stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW respective to your iDevice will be as follows:
  5. iPhone 4 » iPhone3,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw
    iPod touch 4G » iPod4,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw
    iPod touch 3G » iPod3,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw
    iPhone 3GS » iPhone2,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw
    iPad » iPad1,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw

    Select iOS 4.3.2 IPSW

  6. Now wait while Sn0wbreeze identify your iDevice by processing the provided IPSW. If at this step you get Not a Valid IPSW error, use this guide to solve the issue.
  7. Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (Identifying IPSW)

  8. Once IPSW has been processed and your iDevice has been successfully identified, click on the Next button to continue.
  9. Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (iDevice Identified)

  10. Now you will see three jailbreak modes. All of these jailbreak modes preserve your current baseband. Choose Expert Mode and click on the Next button to continue.
  11. Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (Expert Mode)

  17. Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (Creating IPSW)

  18. Once custom IPSW has been created, click OK and follow the instructions below to put your iDevice in DFU mode. At this point you can find iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSW file on your desktop. To avoid any confusion, the names of iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSWs respective to your iDevices will be as follows:
  19. iPhone 4 » sn0wbreeze_iPhone 4-4.3.2.ipsw
    iPhone 3GS » sn0wbreeze_iPhone 3GS-4.3.2.ipsw
    iPod Touch 4G » sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 4-4.3.2.ipsw
    iPod Touch 3G » sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 3G-4.3.2.ipsw
    iPad » sn0wbreeze_iPad-4.3.2.ipsw

    Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (iOS 4.3.2 IPSW Created)

    • Turn off your iDevice completely
    • Press and hold the Home+Power button simultaneously for 10 seconds.
    • After 10 seconds, release the Power button but keep holding the Home button until Sn0wbreeze detects your iPhone in DFU mode.

    Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (Running iREB)

  20. As soon as Sn0wbreeze will detect your iDevice in DFU mode, it will put it in Pwned DFU mode so that you may not get any 16xx or 1015 error during restore.
  21. Sn0wbreeze 2.6 (Pwned DFU Mode)

Steps to Restore iOS 4.3.2 Custom IPSW Through iTunes:

  1. Make sure your iDevice is connected to your PC via USB cable. Launch iTunes and select your iDevice name from the side-panel to view the summary tab.
  2. iPhone Name in iTunes

  3. Now you will see two buttons, Check for Updates (Disabled) and Restore. Hold down the SHIFT key on your keyboard and click on the Restore button. iTunes will ask you to browse for the IPSW file you want to restore. Just choose iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSW for your iDevice which you can find on your desktop.
  4. iTunes Restore
    iTunes (iOS 4.3.2 Restore)

  5. Now wait while iTunes restores iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSW on your iDevice. Once done, your iDevice will reboot itself automatically. If you encounter any error during the restore process, use the comments section below and i will guide you how to bypass it.
  6. As Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 is broken on iOS 4.3.2 due to Apple ASLR security feature, so you must use Ultrasn0w fixer by DjayB6 to unlock your iPhone. Just follow this guide to install Ultrasn0w 1.2.1+DjayB6's Ultrasn0w fixer from Cydia.

      Hi,

It is possible that you haven’t placed your device into DFU mode properly. So make sure you do.

Hi, my iphone4 has on 4.2.1 jailbroken baseband 03.10.01 and all works fine.

Then i used sn0wbreeze 2.6.1 to create a 4.3.2 cfw and preserve baseband but I skip the step 7 on the tutorial above because I see other tutorial on other site, and there they jumped step 6 to 8.

I used a sim card from the phone company that is locked to activated on itunes.

Now the battery drains very fast and my GPS was no signal, and I tried with a lot of programs that use GPS and no signal.

    Any suggestions??

Sorry for my English , Im from Portugal

In step 7, DO NOT choose Activate the iPhone [Hacktivate] option if you do not rely on an unlocked iPhone. Also DO NOT create custom IPSW using SIMPLE mode otherwise Sn0wbreeze will hacktivate your iPhone automatically. You should not lose your GPS signal in any case. There must be something wrong with the custom IPSW. Try to restore custom IPSW made with Sn0wbreeze 2.6. I am myself jailbroken on iOS 4.3.2 using Sn0wbreeze 2.6 and my iPhone have no battery drainage or GPS issues.

my baseband now is 05.14.02 and firmware 4.1
which software is best to jailbreak 4.1 on iphone3g…. and what software should i use to upgrade my bb to 06.xx

  •
ryan Muz5 years, 4 months ago

ya i had shsh blobs of 4.1……
    i guessed u missed something which i wrote..which is
“when i (connect iphone3g) to computer it doesnt show up and itunes or tinyumbrella doesnt pick it up ( no show).. i tried putting it in DFU mode by pressing home + sleep button 10 sec then home button for 30.. then attached it to computer while holding home button.. then tiny umbrella and itunes detect it and recovery mode is shown on itunes.. i tried Exit recovery from tiny umbreall but no joy coz iphone switched off and rebooted with same old snowbreeze logo”
it wasnt going in DFU mode.. coz there was only snowbreeze logo on screen and it would go off after 7 sec (instead of 10) and there would be no indication ifits in DFU mode (though i held home button for 30 sec but if i connect it no jailbraking tool or itune was able identify it… the only way itune or snowbreeze or tiny umbrella will pick any device attached was when i connected it while holding Home button.. and then it wont go in DFU mode.. ( there is iREB in snowbreeze package and it wont detect it……..
the latest thing that i have done is dat i have upgraded to iOS 4.1 (not custom ipsw .. but basic one) and now i have iphone 3g with iOS 4.1 ( i assume) coz the home screem just shows Phone Dial and error is “NO SIM CARD DETECTED” insert a valid sim with no PIN lock to activate phone…
and i do not have a valid sim and i can only use Unlocked jailbroken phone .
Now i am not sure if i will have 05.13.04 firmware or 05.14 … and how will I be able to unlock if it is 05.14… Is there any way to downgrade Base Band … do reply .. and thanks for responding

      1. If you have SHSH blobs of iOS 4.1 saved locally using TinyUmbrella, just start the TSS Server. It doesn’t matter if TinyUmbrella detects your iPhone or not because TSS server is ready to provide SHSH blobs to iTunes.

      2. You are not putting your iPhone in DFU mode right. To put your iPhone in DFU mode, you need to connect it to your computer first and then you should press the buttons and stuff. Watch this video to put your iPhone in DFU mode http://youtu.be/m7idC1Y0hrw and this video to put iPhone in Pwned DFU mode http://youtu.be/2nMovKzvuIw

      3. If you have iPhone 3G then there is no need to provide SHSH blobs through TinyUmbrella. Apple is still signing iOS 4.2.1 SHSH blobs for iPhone 3G users.

      4. You are getting emergency call screen because you didn’t choose hacktivation option while creating custom IPSW.

      5. Even at emergency screen, you can use F0recast tool to check your current baseband

      6. 05.13.04 is directly unlockable using Ultrasn0w but 05.14 require you to update your bb to iPad bb using Redsn0w.

      •
ryan Muz5 years, 4 months ago

        1. Well i tried to restore puting TSS server On and using Custom IPSW which was hactivated… but itunes was doing nothing and after 15 min the iphone screen would die down.

        2. For DFU mode i tried with iphone connected to computer and holding the Home +Sleep screen for 10 sec and then Home screen but neither iREB in snowbreeze or itunes or tiny umbrella was detecting or showing my phone is connected.

        3. Would u suggest that i stay at iOS 4.1 or upgrade to 4.2.

        4. ya i read about upgrading 05.14 to Ipad BB for unlocking with RedSnow

        5. Thanxs for the forecast tool.. i will just check it up

        6. I came across another blog suggesting Fuzzy band downgrader to down grade from iOS 4.1 BB 05.14 to iOS 4.0 BB 05.13…. i dont have SHSH of iOS 4.0.. will Fuzzyband work.. and if it is ok?

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 4 months ago

Fuzzyband method works on old bootloader versions only. Still you can give it a try. I will recommend you to stay at iOS 4.1 as it is more fast than iOS 4.2.1 on iP3G. Also if you selected hacktivation option while creating custom IPSW, there is no way you get stuck at emergency call screen.

well when i used hacktivated and made custom IPSW i was stuck in boot logo loop..(just snowbreeze logo and nothing workiing) and then i restored using iTunes and normal 4.1 when i came to emergency call screen

hi there.. i have jailbroken and unlocked iphone 3g..it had ios 4.0.1 and baseband 05.13.04 had some wifi and signal problem and i restored it to ios 4.1 with sn0wbreeze2.1 to stay on same firmware of 05.13.04.. it took me few tries to get it done coz had error 1600 and stuff. ultimately i was able to get everything done and itune showed rebooting and now my screen shows the logo of snowbreeze and tinyumbrella or itunes doesnt detect it.. what should i do now and what is this state of iPhone called.. hoping for a quick reply.. thanks in anticipation

Which version of Sn0wbreeze you used? Also did you used iREB to put your iPhone in Pwned DFU Mode before restoring custom IPSW?

      •
ryan Muz5 years, 4 months ago

i used sn0wbreeze 2.1 which is for restoration of bb of 3.x.x till 4.1… and it pawnd also using dfu mood and the whole installation was sucessful and at the end itune said rebooting the iphone and apple logo appeared and the status completed and as iphone 3 g rebooted now i can only see the snowbreeze logo and after sometime it goes off and comes back again ( i guess it is in stuck in reboot loop) when i connect to computer it doesnt show up and itunes or tinyumbrella doesnt pick it up ( no show).. i tried putting it in DFU mode by pressing home + sleep button 10 sec then home button for 30.. then attached it to computer while holding home button.. then tiny umbrella and itunes detect it and recovery mode is shown on itunes.. i tried Exit recovery from tiny umbreall but no joy coz iphone switched off and same old snowbreeze logo….i was wondering may be i need to build custom ipsw on another computer coz mine might have some conflicting windows… should i use limera1n… or irecovery… coz i tried irecovery and libusb… libusb gets installed bt irecovery terminal just flashes and vanishes.. ur help will be hughtly apriaciated….
P.S sorry for such a long pos tbut i wanted to tell everything.. to save ur and mine time

So you used Sn0wbreeze 2.1 to jailbreak iOS 4.1 right? There is no need to create custom IPSW again if you think Sn0wbreeze has created the custom IPSW of iOS 4.1 fine. All you need is to restore your iPhone again using iREB. First step is to put your iPhone in Pwned DFU mode. Just watch this video http://youtu.be/2nMovKzvuIw to put your iPhone in Pwned DFU mode. Once done, restore the iOS 4.1 custom IPSW again using iTunes. Before restoring through iTunes, launch TinyUmbrella and start the TSS Server. I am assuming that you have iOS 4.1 SHSH blobs saved.

I have a MacBook Pro running Windows in Parallels. sn0wbreeze work fine to create custom ipsw for my Verizon iPhone 4 CDMA phone with iOS 4.2.7 but won’t recognize the phone when in DFU while Mac iTunes does at the same time. Anyway to safely install custom ipsw created in iTunes Mac or is pwnd dfu necessary?

    •

Yes Pwned DFU is necessary to restore a custom IPSW. Follow this guide http://bit.ly/iidH1K and instead of using stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW, use iOS 4.2.6 IPSW in this guide.

This error is either computer specific from which you are restoring or it due to Sn0wbreeze corrupt bundle file. Which version of Sn0wbreeze you are using?
      Possible solutions are:
      1. Restore custom IPSW on another PC or Mac around you
      2. Re-create iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSW using Sn0wbreeze 2.6.1 http://bit.ly/l8Bv8S

When i reboot the device he didnt turn on (with Redsn0w jailbreak 4.3.2) , so i would need to use my computer and run RedSn0w again to turn my device back on.
Would need to use my computer and run Sn0wbreeze again to turn my device back on?

    •

Nops. You don’t need to boot tethered using Sn0wbreeze. It is untethered jailbreak which lets you reboot your iDevice without connecting it to your computer!

    Hi…..
Just a query…. What is the diff between stock ipsw and custom ipsw…. I know it might be silly… But have been always a bit confused….is stock ipsw the one we get from itunes…. And custom ipsw is the one made by jailbreaking tool….pls confirm

I wanna jailbreak iPhone 3GS …. Are there any major errors faced by iPhone 3GS users while jailbreaking…. So should I or should I not..coz if I get stuck I don’t have shsh blobs saved of previous firmwares…. Though from now on I will always…

does it make sense to save 4.3.2 shsh blobs before jailbreaking…

And I read it somewhere, probably read it wrong, tht first I need to be on ios 4.3.2 and then start this tutorial above …

    Thanks for all the help

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Yes, stock IPSW is the one which you download directly from Apple website or from iTunes and custom IPSW is the one created by PwnageTool or Sn0wbreeze. Custom IPSW jailbreaks and preserve the baseband of your iDevice while stock IPSW do not jailbreak but upgrades your baseband version. You can still save iOS 4.3.2 (Even if you are not on iOS 4.3.2) and also to save SHSH blobs, you don’t need a jailbroken iDevice. No you don’t need to be on iOS 4.3.2 to use the above tutorial.

hey i have tried to unlock with snowbreeze, blackra1n, and i think its limerain? the one with the pineapple logo and i did some research and i think im f*cked…. i use 05.16.01 4.3 and i cant find any carriers.. the only way i know of right nao is with an ipad firmware and i dont think i want to do that :O

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Sn0wbreeze, Blackra1n or Limera1n are jailbreak tools (NOT unlock). Unlocking depends on your baseband only and only Ultrasn0w can unlock your iPhone. As your baseband is 05.16.01, so you must upgrade your baseband to iPad baseband using Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 http://bit.ly/f9BPDI You need to upgrade your firmware to iOS 4.3.2 as iOS 4.3 is buggy and have battery drainage issues.

How can i backup my ios 4.3.2 shsh blobs?.

    •

Download TinyUmbrella from here and click on the Save SHSH button after connecting your iDevice to your PC or Mac.

      •

How much time does it take for TinyUmbrella to save SHSH blobs?. I clicked Save SHSH and it did not show any response …

It only takes 5 mins maximum and also depends on your internet connection speed.

My iPhone 3Gs had full signal strength bars on ios 3.1.3. I upgraded to 4.3.2 using above tutorial and unlocked using ultrasnOw but now i am always getting 4/5 signal bars. Why?… (Baseband is 05.12.01).

    •

Dial *3001#12345#* and tell me your signal-strength in DB?

      •

its 90. Thanks for this code…

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

You probably mean -90 dB right? Yep its not that bad but not that good either. You need to move into high altitude location where you get good signal-strength.

I have a brand new iPod 4 already updated to iOS 4.3.2 (iPod4,1_4.3.2_8H7_Restore.ipsw)
I’ve built the IPSW exactly as explained on the guide. After that, used “iREB-r4” to get in Pwned DFU and then restored the sn0wbreeze IPSW with iTunes.
The process seems to be fine but after the restore, when the devices gets rebooted, it gets stuck displaying the Apple logo and never finished booting up… :(
Also tried redsn0w_win_0.9.6rc14 with the same results. Everything seems to go fine but it ends up stuck in the Apple logo after reboot.
I’ve gone back to DFU, not Pwned this time, and restored the official IPSW to get it running again. It works fine, but i just can’t jailbreak it.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Yep Homer, this a confirmed *known* issue with PwnageTool 4.3.2, Sn0wbreeze 2.6 and Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14. Its not only you but many other iPod Touch 4G users (Read the above comments or this) are having same issue. This could be due to corrupt jailbreak bundle used by Dev-Team or the corrupt payload created by i01nc for iPod Touch 4G users. I don’t think its an issue with your iPod HW now. If you have SHSH blobs for any old firmware, you can confirm this by downgrading and jailbreaking the older firmware. It should go fine!

One quick question, should i use redsn0w or sn0wbreeze? Currently running 4.2.1 05.14.04 3gs, so i dont rely on an unlock. Will an unlock be made for 05.14.04 before or after whatever baseband 4.3.2 has?
    Thanks

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

      Depends:
      1. If you want to jailbreak and unlock, use Sn0wbreeze 2.6 and upgrade to iPad baseband
      2. If you don’t wana unlock and want a quick jailbreak, use Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14
      3. Both 05.14.04 and 05.16.02 (iOS 4.3.2 bb) are not DIRECTLY unlockable using Ultrasn0w 1.2.2

One more quedtion, is there less to go wrong in sn0wbreeze or redsn0w?

        •

If you don’t care about baseband upgradation or do not rely on unlock, Redsn0w is always the best option!

iTunes do not backup any Cydia apps (DEBs), so you have to re-install all of them.

    Hello Wolverine,

I am trying to update my iphone 3GS (baseband 5.12.1 (i think)) with sn0wbreeze 2.6 to ios 4.3.2. following your instructions.
Everything goes well up and until say the last 10%.
Than the progress bar freezes on the phone AND in itunes. No error is displayed.
    It just hangs.
I left it connected to the PC for 2 hours, but still no movement.
    Can you help me?
    Regards,
    SVen

With snowbreeze goes flawless until the progressbar reaches 90%.
Than it stops again. No errorcodes. after 2 hrs I disconnect the phone
        manually stopped itunes.
After this the iphone stays en a recoveryloop (?)
It always comes back with the “connect to itunes” image.

Hello. I am using an Ipod touch 4th gen and i’ve been trying to jailbreak it over the past few days. I am trying to jailbreak using an untethered jailbreak firmware 4.3.2 with redsn0w, and sn0wbreeze. For the past few days the jailbreak has been successful but upon the reboot of the device, i get stuck in a boot loop, where the apple logo appears and flashes on and off forever. Upon many hours of research I tried using IReb to put my device into pwned dfu mode, which allowed me to restore my firmware on itunes, but then got boot looped again. Then I also tried to use tiny umbrella to kick it out of recovery, and i also tried the fix recovery option, and again, tried to install the jailbroken firmware, it installs, but then immediately i get boot looped… I can restore my ipod unjailbroken and it gets past the apple logo, but whenever i use a jailbroken firmware, it boot loops. I’m not sure what to do at this point… i hope someone can help me out. Thanks.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Looks to me as if you are still using tethered versions of Sn0wbreeze or Redsn0w. First, you are an iPod Touch user, so you do not need to use Sn0wbreeze or PwnageTool. Redsn0w is the best option for you. Follow these two steps:

      1. Restore to stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW on your iPod
      2. Use Redsn0w 0.0.6RC14 to jailbreak it

      More info here http://bit.ly/f9BPDI

Once again, i tried using redsnow and that guide that you just posted, and everything goes well until the reboot… then it sticks with the apple logo and doesn’t move. pretty sure that’s called a boot loop. any ideas on how to get past this?

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

I never heard of recovery loops in iPods before. You can try 3 things:
          1. Recboot http://bit.ly/cPXtcN
          2. TinyUmbrella http://bit.ly/bWtu6v
          3. There is a tab of Fix Recovery in REB. Get iREB from iH8sn0w’s official web here http://goo.gl/M8Vez

          •
            JakeLaser5 years, 5 months ago

yeah well have you ever dealt with a problem like this?… i’ve tried those things to kick it in and out of recovery… but they aren’t working it just get’s stuck on the apple logo… it’s just the apple logo. do you have any ideas?

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

I don’t think it is in recovery or DFU loop. It just cant boot untethered. As a random check, download and see if this iBooty works http://bit.ly/fwMs1e

          •
            JakeLaser5 years, 5 months ago

okay well i used i booty and nothing seemed to happen… how else can i fix it if it ins’t booting untethered?

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Ideally Sn0wbreeze 2.6 and Redsn0w RC14 should have jailbroken ur iPod on iOS 4.3.2 untethered but now Dev-Team has released PwnageTool 4.3.2 http://bit.ly/etlFRp you can also give it a try. I personally think there is some HW or memory issue with your iPod but if that is the case, stock IPSW should also fail to restore. If you do not own a Mac, wait for a day or two before someone will upload iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSWs made from PwnageTool.

          •
            JakeLaser5 years, 5 months ago

It just spazzes when i use ibooty, the green bar keeps going up and down and my ipod keeps connecting and disconnecting from my computer… what should i do? lol

um where should i look in a few days to find some ipsw’s from pwnage tools (i do not own a mac, i hope that will fix the problem).. The stock one does restore successfully every time without fail, it’s just these jailbroken ones from sn0wbreeze and redsn0w. So where can i find these pwnage tool ipsw’s once someone starts uploading them?

Is it ios 4.2.1 baseband 03.10.01 compatible to upgrade ios 4.3.2 using snowbreeze 2.6? Which mode should i choose? either baseband preservation mode or expert mode?

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Either way you can not unlock your iPhone with Ultrasn0w 1.2.2 unless you use Gevey SIM. Still if you want to preserve your current baseband and want to have untethered iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak, you can choose Expert Mode in Sn0wbreeze 2.6.

Thank you for explaining the steps
    i jailbrek my iphone 4 lock f. 4.3.1 baseband 1.59.00 with redsn0w
And these is the first time use sn0wbreeze My question is?,
What is the best choice in order to preserve the baseband
    baseband preserve mode
    or
    simple mode
    or
    expert mode ?

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

All three will preserve baseband but:
      1. Baseband Preservation Mode will not jailbreak your iPhone
      2. Simple and Expert mode is almost same. Both allows you to hacktivate and jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.3.2.
      3. If you want to unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.3.2, i will recommend you to go for Expert Mode as told in instructions.

First of all, I would like to thank you for very precise jailbreaking procedure. I successfully jailbroke my iPod Touch 4G. However, the GPS is not working anymore just like for the iPhone. I was wondering if sn0wbreeze will be updated to include this fix or it simply cannot be done (forgive me but I am new in these things and this looks to me like a SW issue not HW). Also, if I jailbreak it again with the Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14, would I have the same GPS problem? More importantly, is that procedure as reliable as sn0wbreeze 2.6 (no harm done to the iDevice) and if you hit problems can you also restore it with the stock IOS?
Finally, how can I install cracked app over 2 GB? I tried with AppSync for 4.0+ but it failed. Again, thanks a lot.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Ofcourse YES! You are an iPod Touch user, so you do not need to worry about baseband :) You can always restore stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW unless next version of firmware gets released. I am not sure if this is a HW or SW issue but definitely you have give Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14 a try. There is no harm in using Sn0wbreeze or Redsn0w again n again. I don’t think you can install any app of size 2G through Installous. You must copy IPA file to your PC and install it with iTunes. I personally don’t think apps of size 2 GB are supported by any model or iPhone or iPod Touch. iPad can be the exception in this case.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

After restoring firmware, iPhone will never ask for passcode. I think you are talking about emergency call screen right? To bypass that, you need to choose Activate the iPhone [Hacktivate] option in step 7.

      •
        Kev5 years, 5 months ago

actually i jailbroke my phone already then they always hang i think because of too much application that i have, then i reboot my iphone then suddenly i wait for so long and nothing happen they stuck to apple logo so that’s why i try to restore it using my itunes .. then when i use to shift+restore they say the iphone software is temporarily not available? so i try several times but still same answer.

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Yep, its because Apple servers sometimes do not respond to your SHSH requests and sometimes your internet connection is doing issues. To fix this, it is always recommended to save your SHSH blobs locally using TinyUmbrella. To do that, just download TinyUmbrella and connect your iDevice to your PC. Hit the save SHSH button. Once all SHSH blobs are saved, click on the “Start TSS Server” button. Thats it, now you can restore IPSW through iTunes without any error!

I’m trying to get custom firmware installed on my iPod Touch (4th Gen, iOS 4.3.2). The IPSW is sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 4-4.3.2

I get to the stage when iTunes says it is verifying the update or something, and the iPod screen shows the progress bar with less than 1cm left until 100%, then receive a message saying it couldn’t be restored due to Error 6. Please help.. thank you.

I think it is a bug in Sn0wbreeze 2.6, i have informed the developer http://bit.ly/e1NmuG
      You can try this alternative:
      1. Use the above tutorial and choose Baseband Preservation Mode in step 6
      2. Restore the newly made iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSW
      3. Once restored, jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14. To do that, download latest version of Redsn0w from here http://bit.ly/f9BPDI and use this guide http://bit.ly/hlXH6Q (Skip step 1, 2, 3 & 4)

yes, i remember before i accidentally restore the orig. ios 4.3.2 ive have restored the custom ios 4.3.2 made by sn0wbreeze 2.6 then its all black, then i decided to give it a try one more time but this i accidentally restore the orig. ios 4.3.2 and not the custom one that where the error comes up.

            2. After restoring, if you got stuck in recovery loop, did you used Redsn0w?
yes i used the redsnow but after the error 9 comes up and until now nothing happend.

thanks for helping me, hope we really work this out.

I don’t think you used the DOS baseband fix recovery for iOS 4.3 correctly http://bit.ly/epkz3f. It still works and i have tested it myself. Anyways, have you got iOS 4.1 or iOS 3.1.2 SHSH blobs?

4.1 only, ill try the recovery fix

          •

Thats great. iOS 4.1 has no recovery loop issues. Just downgrade to custom iOS 4.1 IPSW and unlock your iPhone with Ultrasn0w.

hi j, there no cure for error 9, apple says its cause by corrupted memory or something(more on hardware defects), they said they will replace the phone. i think its the mother of all itunes errors.

thanks for your help, God bless and more power.

I’m getting the firmware not compatible message. The firmware I’m trying to use is sn0wbreeze_iPhone 3GS-4.3.2.ipsw

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

You are providing Sn0wbreeze a custom IPSW instead of stock IPSW. sn0wbreeze_iPhone 3GS-4.3.2.ipsw is already cooked with Sn0wbreeze and Sn0wbreeze will not accept this file to cook the custom IPSW again. You need to provide Sn0wbreeze stock IPSW or restore this custom IPSW using iTunes.

      •
        Dorothy5 years, 5 months ago

I think I may have confused you. I got this error AFTER I did the sn0wbreeze steps. When it tells you to do the Shift+restore and choose the custom sn0wbreeze firmware is when I get this error.

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

If that is the case, it simply means you are restoring incompatible firmware on your iDevice. Example: Restoring iPhone 3G stock or custom IPSW on iPhone 3GS and vice versa. Are you sure you have iPhone 3GS (Could be 3G)? Also you created the custom firmware file yourself? Hope you have not downloaded it from somewhere!

Almost made but got error (17) from itunes in the end. Any help is much appreciated? 3GS with 4.3.2 and 05.16.02 upgrading to 06.15.00
Thanks for all your hard work

It is a random error which is iTunes throws when iDevice failes to display the applelogo img3. Usually error like these can be solved by re-creating and the restoring the custom IPSW again BUT if the problem persists, i will recommend you to use Redsn0w instead of Sn0wbreeze http://bit.ly/h9k0Kw

I’m using iphone 4 ios 4.2.1 and have jailbreak using baseband 03.10.01. How can I to upgrade ios 4.3.2? Can i use snowbreeze 2.6? Should I preserve the baseband? Then, should i need to jailbreak ios 4.3.2 using redsnow or it already jailbreak?

    thank you for helping me.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Just use the above guide to jailbreak your iPhone on iOS 4.3.2. You should always preserve your current baseband. All three modes of Sn0wbreeze preserve your current baseband. Just choose Expert Mode and follow the instructions as told in the above guide. After restoring custom firmware, you will find your iPhone completely jailbroken on iOS 4.3.2. There is no need to use any other tool.

Is it any problem when i upgrade my iphone 4 to ios 4.3.2? I mean, can i make a call?

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Jailbreaking have nothing to do with unlocking your iPhone.

If you rely on an unlock: No you can’t make a call with iPhone 4 03.10.01 baseband.
If you have factory unlocked iPhone: Yes you can

iPhone 4 baseband 03.10.01 is yet to be unlocked by iPhone Dev-Team. Stay tuned!

I followed this now all is fine, i have installed ultrasn0w fixer and its working well. Thanks for all your tutorials. But i encountered a problem when i was trying to activate with SAM. I followed your tutorial installed SAM and did the “revert the lockdown to stock” and when i connect my phone to iTunes i get a message from apple saying the sim in the phone is not correct and hence it can’t be activated. What should i do now?

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

You must choose your carrier manually in SAM settings or use a different SIM. If you are still unable to activate, install Push Doctor from Cydia to enable Push Notifications.

      •
        Nirujan5 years, 5 months ago

I used another sim and it worked fine. I activated using that sim then now using my primary sim. It’s fine but I am not having Internet Terthering and MMS options. I was using iOS 4.2.1 before and had it hacktivated with redsn0w even then Internet tethering and MMS were not working but later when I used SAM and activated they worked just fine. Now with 4.3.2 even after activated with SAM they still do not work. Is there anything I can do to get it working?? Is this because I used another sim to activate I have this issue??

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

I am myself not sure but i think you have to enable iOS 4.3.x “Personal Hotspot” feature on your iPhone by installing package called “TetherMe” from Cydia.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

You need to choose your country and carrier manually. To do that:
      1. Open SAM
      2. Go to Method menu
      3. Choose By Country and Carrier and hit the back button
      4. Choose Country menu and select your country. Hit the back button
      5. Choose Carrier menu and select your carrier.
      6. Activate your iPhone by connecting to iTunes. DO NOT close SAM.

If the above steps do not work, try to borrow some other carrier SIM from your friend and activate your iPhone.

    Hi there,
I have followed all the steps with redsnow and here are my issues now.
    1) Cydia says “the device is in the pending TSS queue.
    2) I dont have a service now.
    3) Each time I turn off the device, I need to restore the redsnow and sort of jailbreak process to turn the device on.
    4) Most of my applications are not functioning right now they appear to be but goes back to main screen.
    5) What should I do to fix all this problems? I am not really an expert but I can follow instructions well. So if you can help me, you make my day!!

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

      1. If you have your SHSH blobs saved locally, there is no need to worry about Cydia’s “This device has a pending TSS request” message.
      2. What is your baseband? http://bit.ly/95CX7y
      3. This is untethered jailbreak. So ideally you should not need any software or Redsn0w to boot your iPhone.
      4. Install AppSync for iOS 4.3.2 http://bit.ly/eQYd60
      5. If you do not rely on an unlock or your baseband is already updated, use Redsn0w to jailbreak your iPhone.

        Well, it got worse
1)I havent saved anything so I dont really know how to get back (including using tiny umbrella)
2)my phone turned into recovery mode now and I cant even turn on the device.Itunes says it is in recovery mode(should I restore it, do I lose all the apps if I do so?
3)for some reason, I need to use the program otherwise I cant turn on the device
4)before it went to recovery mode, I tried installing Appsync but it didnt work,I couldnt run most of the apps at all
5)Well, I dont know if it too much to ask but, Would you guide me thru this?
I am stuck with I phone 4 4.3.2 in recovery mode plus the issues above…hope i happen to fix this before sunlight..11:06 PM now..

          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Ok. As you do not know your baseband, so you have only 1 shot:
          1. Use the above tutorial and choose Baseband Preservation Mode in step 6
          2. Restore the newly made iOS 4.3.2 custom IPSW
          3. Once restored, jailbreak your iPhone using Redsn0w 0.9.6RC14. To do that, download latest version of Redsn0w from here http://bit.ly/f9BPDI and use this guide http://bit.ly/hlXH6Q (Skip step 1, 2, 3 & 4)

dude, it is working now. However I have two problems right now.
            1) Although I downloaded fixer, I still dont have service. there is only one bar and I’m just waiting
            2) I cant turn off my phone and turn it back on. For some reason, whenever I try to do that, the phone gets lock with apple logo so I need to hook to the computer and run redsnow and hit “boot teehered right now” option. That’s been the only way I happen to turn it back on. Everything else works just fine right now.

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

            1. You need to tell me your baseband now!
            2. You are using wrong version of Sn0wbreeze. Use Sn0wbreeze 2.6 for untethered iOS 4.3.2 jailbreak.

          •
            mj5 years, 5 months ago

ok it is 04.10.01 is the baseband

I havent used snowbreeze. Instead I’ve been using redsnow and ultrasnow for the rest..do you think I should install snowbreeze and follow the tutorials here?

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

You can not unlock your iPhone 4 baseband 04.10.01 with Ultrasn0w. Its the most updated version of iP4 baseband which is yet to be unlocked. You need to wait for iPhone Dev-Team NCK unlock or buy Gevey SIM to unlock your iPhone. Jailbreaking again with Sn0wbreeze will not unlock your iPhone.

I tried to jailbreak the latest 4.3.2 IOS on my 3GS phone and always got unknown error (9) during the restore. Please help.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Error 9 signals kernel panic which is probably due to faulty bundle file used by the developer in his Sn0wbreeze tool. Either re-create custom IPSW or choose Baseband Preservation Mode and restore that IPSW. Once your baseband has been preserved, follow this guide http://bit.ly/f9BPDI but skip step 1, 2, 3 and 4 as you have already restore to stock iOS 4.3.2 while preserving ur current baseband.

      •
Winston Lee5 years, 5 months ago

What I did is re-run sn0wbreeze 2.6 and created a custom IPSW in desktop.
Then I just tried to restore from this IPSW and itures told me prepare restoring and never restore.
Is it because I forgot to save my SHSH blobs?
Now I couldn’t even restore to factory mode.
        Please help..

hi mr. lee, i have the same problem, if you still have your warranty go to apple and have your replacement. its there S.O.P. on error 9 to be replace, but if you have no warranty just put it into trash.

error 9 is a hardware issue.

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

What is your current baseband? If it is already updated then upgrade to stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW.

I don’t have access to my phone and it is in recovery mode. Each time I tried to restore and got failed. I don’t know what is the current baseband.
In Itunes now the phone is unknown device. Perhaps I can try to upgrade the basebank in sn0wbreeze?

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Nops. Before upgrading your bb to iPad baseband, first restore stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW to confirm if this is a hardware issue or not.

I do appreciate for all your great help.
It is weird that it happened after jailbreak. So I still want to try more.
Is it possible to restore it to factory mode? Or something in the latest IOS prevents me to jailbreak the phone?

            Regards

It depends, if you rely on an unlock then do not restore stock iOS 4.3.2 IPSW and wait for PwnageTool to release (As u are having trouble with Sn0wbreeze 2.6).

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Error 14 can occur due to two reasons:
      1. Custom IPSW is made with a corrupt bundle file. [Solution: Recreate custom IPSW]
      2. USB port not communicating properly [Plug the iPhone USB cable to some other available USB port in your PC]

Does this fix the signal bar issues, snowbreeze 2.5.1 (on ios 4.3.1) does not fix it ??

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Signal-bars issue was not related to Sn0wbreeze. It was actually due to broken Ultrasn0w 1.2 which was fixed by Dev-Team in Ultrasn0w 1.2.1. As Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 is also broken on iOS 4.3.2, you must use Ultrasn0w 1.2.1+DjayB6’s fixer to unlock your iPhone on iOS 4.3.2. I have asked DjayB6’s if his fixer also fixes the signal-bars issue or not. Lets see what he says!

What will Enable Gestures Menu option do?? Shall i use sn0wbreeze to create custom IPSW following this tutorial or wait for pwnagedtool to come out? Which you think is more reliable? Please replay, Thanks

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Use Sn0wbreeze as PwnageTool do not have any option to enable MT Gestures on iOS 4.3.x. Sn0wbreeze and PwnageTool are equally reliable.
