For those who don't have a USB flash drive or those who don't have enough specs to install Windows 8 on VMware workstation can use this guide to burn a Windows 8 bootable DVD disk. To burn Windows 8 ISO image on DVD disk, all you need is a 4.7 GB DVD-R and a 2.45 GB Windows 8 ISO image. Before proceeding, note that the current leaked build of Window 8 is still a beta and is based on Windows 7 kernel.
Prerequisites:
- Windows 8 ISO (2.45 GB) « Download
- One 4.7 GB or above DVD-R
Burn Window 8 DVD In Windows 7/Vista:
Insert a blank DVD in your DVD-RW drive. Right-click on the downloaded ISO image of Windows 8 and choose Burn disc image option.
Now you will see Windows Disk Image Burner window. Select your DVD-RW drive from the disc burner drop-down menu and un-check Verify disk after burning (optional). Click on the Burn button and wait while Windows burn the ISO image on a DVD-R disk.
Burn Window 8 DVD In Windows XP:
Download ISO Recorder for Windows XP from here and install it. After installing ISO Recorder, right-click on Windows 8 ISO file and choose Copy image to CD option. Do not forget to put a blank DVD in your DVD-RW drive before using ISO Recorder.
Once you have a bootable Windows 8 DVD, reboot your computer and press the DEL key to enter into your BIOS. Choose CD/DVD disk drive as the first boot device and press ESC key to save changes.
