Fix for iOS 4.3.1 Signal-Bars Issue Releasing Tonight!

iPhone Dev-Team has just confirmed that they will release Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 tonight which will not only unlock all older basebands on iOS 4.3.1 but will also fix the signal-bars issue which was mainly experienced by those iPhone users who are jailbroken on iOS 4.3.1 with their old baseband preserved.

Note that One-Signal-Bar issue do not depends on the lock or unlock condition but it depends on what baseband you have on your iPhone running jailbroken iOS 4.3.1 on it. Even if you do not rely on an unlocked iPhone OR you have got a factory unlocked iPhone, you will still face this issue if your iPhone is jailbroken on iOS 4.3.1 and have older baseband.

Those who do not rely on an unlocked iPhone will be able to use their iPhone to make calls and do text messages but will not be able to see full signal-bars until they use the upcoming Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 patch. Yep! I think its a new trick played by Apple to discourage iPhone users from jailbreaking their iPhones. I myself do not rely on an unlocked iPhone but i surely will not like to install Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 just to see full signal-bars on my iPhone :(

Update#1: Download official Ultrasn0w 1.2.1 to unlock iPhone 4/3GS & fix signal-bars issue on iOS 4.3.1.

    1-bar signal issue here, too!

    I'm running 4.3.3 on iPhone 4 with BB 1.59.00. The 1-bar signal issue started after I downgraded from 4.3.4 with the help of TinyUmbrella and a stock IPSW (then jailbreak via JailbreakMe.com).

    My signal strength is -113 (not that I know if that is high or low -- or worse than before).

    I tried using the latest UltraSn0w via Cydia. It resulted in more bars, but the was now no data service (call signal was there). I removed UltraSn0w again via Cydia, and things normalised again, but the 1-bar signal issue resumed.

    Will the UltraSn0w 2.1 DEB file do the trick for me? If so, how exactly would I use iFile to install it the right place?

    Or could I update to a later BB, such as 2.x or 3.x? (and how?)

    Within TinyUmbrella, there's an option to update the BB to the latest version. Does that mean the version of BB corresponding to the version of the IPSW? Or does it mean the very latest version of BB available from Apple?

    Any guidance here would be greatly appreciated.

      You need to always keep Ultrasn0w installed if you rely on an unlock & resolve the single signal bar issues. If you aren't aware, the later BB's don't have an unlock yet. So your best bet is to restore to a custom IPSW instead of TU straight from iTunes & retry.

    i am using iphone 4 bb 4.3.3 with gevey sim and i m having only one signal bar, so guys is there any solution to improve signal bar strength?? when i revert back to 4.2.1 and use gevey sim then i am getting full signal bars...

    i want to use 4.3.3 with full strength?so any solution...?

      Install Ultrasn0w 1.2.3 from Cydia by following this guide here http://bit.ly/lAcuoN to fix it even if you don’t rely on it. Once you have installed Ultrasn0w, reboot your iPhone and your good to go. This happens because you have preserved your BB whilst updated your iOS. Even if your using Gevey or not, this mismatch between the iOS & BB versions causes the single signal bar issue which is rectified by installing Ultrasn0w. :)

    UNBRIIKKKKKKKED!!!! Next challenge is the reason I tried to revert from 4.3.3 is that I am getting the dreaded signal bar issue. When I *3001#12345#* I get -107 for my signal which is too low I believe. When I run tiny umbrella I get the following SHSHs saved (even though of course I didn't save them):

    4.0.2
    4.1
    4.2.1
    4.3.3

    Which one should I use to try and get the phone so that I can unlock it and hopefully not suffer from the signal bar issue?

        When I got the phone it was a iphone 3gs with 4.3.3 and 5.16.02. I Changed to 06.15.00 and unlocked it but it had the signal bar issue. I now have tried 4.0.1 and 4.2.1 but both have the problem. Ideas on what to try next if anything?

          Try a different carrier SIM to see if its behaving the same way. Reboot and also toggle Airplane Mode ON/OFF as well to see if it changes anything. Let me know.

            O.k. problem solved! I am here in Canada and I tried a Rogers sim card and got a full five bars(not sure what the dB was) with a bell card was 3 bars at about -96 dB i think and with Clearnet(through Telus) was between 0 and 2 bars usually. calling went through even with zero bars however with my carrier Clearnet.     Running a 3GS unlocked with ultrasn0w 1.2.3
    Serial number 89642xxxxxxx
    iOS 4.3.3 with 5.16.02 originally that I upgraded to 06.15.00
    Unlocks fine but has the signal bar issue.
    I blasted through to this without saving my blobs or my original baseband fyi since it my was my first iphone unlock. :(

      Did you give it a Reboot as well? Tried the Airplane mode ON/OFF ? What does it show now?

        oh boy i think i've done it now. So I put it into DFU mode and used itunes restore it to put iOS 4.1 on there which of course put it into a recovery loop because i am an idiot. I Tried putting 4.3.3 back on with itunes to no success and a restore through itunes also with no success.

        Is there anything else I can do wrong to ensure this phone never works again? Thanks so much for your help. :)

          I suppose your trying to use the stock iOS IPSW files. You must always from now on use the Custom IPSW files only since you have updated your BB to an iPad BB. Apple's iOS finds this out and automatically puts you in the RecoveryLoop. To understand how to create a Custom Restore IPSW, download the latest Sn0wBreeze from here http://bit.ly/kOhAeX and follow this guide here http://bit.ly/mbFORU to get yourself back on 4.3.3. You'll need to understand that only if your SHSH blob is saved you can go back to an earlier iOS & from now on towards the future, always update/restore using Custom restores only.

    I was using ultrasn0w fixer with no signal bar issues until this came out. Now I have one signal bar. :( iPhone 3GS with baseband 05.13.04 on 4.3.1.

        It's a bigger problem. After trying to dial a number I got "No Network Service" at all. I tried to remove ultrasn0w 1.2.1 and then installed an ultrasn0w 1.2 deb through iFile so that ultrasn0w fixer would let me install but it did not fix the problem. How can I completely remove ultrasn0w and get back to ultrasn0w 1.2 and ultrasn0w fixer? No cell service. I shouldn't have upgraded ultrasn0w through Cydia but I hate seeing pending upgrades.

          Just go to Cydia->Manage->Packages and uninstall Ultrasn0w 1.2.1. Download Ultrasn0w 1.2 DEB from here http://bit.ly/h4fhZd
