Download Redsn0w 0.9.6RC10 & Redsn0w 0.9.6RC11 for iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad [Custom Animated Boot Logos]

Soon after Redsn0w 0.9.6RC10, iPhone Dev-Team has just pushed another update of Redsn0w (v0.9.6RC11) which makes the boot animations a bit more robust across all iOS 4.3.1 iDevices. For those who don't know, yesterday iPhone Dev-Team released Redsn0w 0.9.6RC10 which introduced custom animated boot logos for all iOS 4.3.1 iDevices. To enable animated boot logos on your iDevice, just re-run Redsn0w 0.9.6RC11 over an existing iOS 4.3.1 jailbreak.

Redsn0w 0.9.6RC11

Official Redsn0w 0.9.6RC11 Changelog:

Those running redsn0w may have noticed we enabled too many Settings options in some versions of the jailbreak (for instance, what you want your side switch to do, even if you have no side switch because you’re not using an iPad). Release rc10 of redsn0w corrects that (you can just run it over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

Along the way, we’ve also added the option to enable boot animations…these animations can be installed via Cydia, but be sure to select which animation to use via the Settings->Bootlogo setting after you’ve downloaded an animation (and again, you can just run rc10 rc11 over your existing jailbreak…be sure to de-select Cydia to avoid package conflicts).

(The boot animation we tested against was “Android Boot Logo”. It correctly installs all the dependencies needed to run the animation at each boot).

If you haven't jailbreaked your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad on iOS 4.3.1 yet then grab the latest build of Redsn0w (Win | Mac) and follow step-by-step guide here to jailbreak your iDevice on iOS 4.3.1 untethered. While jailbreaking your iDevice with Redsn0w, do not forget to choose Allow boot animation option.
Redsn0w 0.9.6rc11 (Boot Logo)
Once you are done with jailbreaking, open Cydia and install Apple Boot Logo app which you can find from ModMyi repo easily. After installing Apple Boot Logo app, just search Cydia for BootLogo to get many fancy boot logos like Pacman B00T, Vegas baby!, Angry Birds HD and more. If you want to add your own custom boot logo to your iPhone or iPod Touch, use this guide.

If I didn’t click “Allow boot animation” when I jailbroke my iPhone, do I have to re-jailbreak it to enable this feature? or is there a code I can change somewhere instead?

I tried installing “Animate” and selecting an animated boot logo from the settings page, but it doesn’t work. When I reboot my phone I see the “Custom Boot Logo” I set up when I did the jailbreak instead of the animated boot logo I chose in the settings.

Nops. You need to re-jailbreak your iPhone again. Why? Because boot animations are the part of jailbreak payload. You can’t add this functionality by changing any PLIST file etc :)

After re-jailbreaking with Redsn0w RC10 or RC11, go to Settings app and select your logo from BootLogo menu. Many people forget to choose desired boot logo after enabling them with Redsn0w.

The similarity is that they both let you install custom animated boot logos on your iOS 4.3.1 jailbroken iDevice and the difference is that RC11 fixes the boot animation lag issue which was experienced by RC10 users. So RC11 is better!

You mean boot logos are not working? Have you selected your desired boot logo from Settings->BootLogo?

You have to download Apple Boot Logo first from Cydia first, in order for you to see it appear under setting.
