How to Jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone, iPod Touch & iPad with Sn0wbreeze 2.4b1?

Here is a simple step-by-step guide to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on iPhone 4/3GS, iPod Touch 4G/3G and 1st-Gen iPad using Sn0wbreeze 2.4b1. Except iPhone 3GS (Old Bootrom) users, it is a tethered jailbreak for all iDevices. Tethered jailbreak means if your iDevice loses its battery power or reboots due to any other reason, you must use iBooty tool to boot into tethered jailbroken state.

Sn0wbreeze 2.4 (Beta 1)

Notes:

  1. Ultrasn0w which was broken due to Apple's ASLR security feature has been fixed. After jailbreaking your iPhone, you will be able to unlock it using Ultrasn0w 1.2 provided that you are running 01.59.00, 04.26.08, 05.11.07, 05.12.01, 05.13.04 or iPad baseband 06.15.00.
  2. MobileSubstrate has been fixed. You can use apps like Winterboard and SBSettings after jailbreaking your iDevice on iOS 4.3.1 using Sn0wbreeze 2.4b1.

Why are you still on tethered jailbreak when untethered jailbreak is already out? :D http://bit.ly/k5I7Qu After jailbreaking your iPod on iOS 4.3.3 untethered, you do not need to worry about losing its battery power. Cheers!

Its a bug in Sn0wbreeze 2.4 and Sn0wbreeze 2.5. Well i am going to tell you an easy workaround. Just use this guide to preserve your current baseband and then use this guide to jailbreak iOS 4.3.1 on your iDevice with Redsn0w.

    hi

I followed all the steps listed above. My phone turned on and I updated Cydia, then it asked me to reboot the device. I did that. But now I am not able to boot my phone with Ibooty. It says done, but the phone doesnt turn on, Itunes keeps showing phone in recovery mode. Please help

It means you failed to put your iPhone in DFU mode correctly. Quit iBooty. Plug your iPhone into your PC and use this video to put iPhone in DFU mode. Once in DFU mode then start iBooty and click on Start button.

Ok so when it says that the GPS will be disabled, does that mean that my phone will not be able to use any GPS services that I download, or have, including Google maps?

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Yep! You will completely loose GPS functionality.

New problem. When i try to open cydia or safari, then it just shut down again, before i get in. I have tried to use iBooty, but it doesnt seem to work.

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

It means you are not boot into tethered jailbroken state. Try again to boot using iBooty.

Hi, got a 3gs, old bootroom, on 4.3.1 with BB 05.16.02,
No shsh’s saved and always get error 1002 if a include the bb upgrade in sn0wbreeze.

Is there any chance to get this fixed? if I don’t include the bb update in sn0wbreeze it is totally fine. the untethered JB works but to get the unlock I need 06.15.00…

    Help would be highly appreciated.
    Thx

    •
      Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

I am sorry maik but you need SHSH to downgrade your firmware from iOS 4.3.1 to iOS 4.2.1 in order to upgrade to iPad baseband. And yes, its the bug in Sn0wbreeze which i can confirm. Thats why i wrote this guide.

          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Nops! I don’t think it will include iPad BB upgrade. But hope for the best!

What is your iPhone mode? 4G or 3GS?

      •
        Mathias5 years, 5 months ago

        iPod Touch 3G

        •
          Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

Ok, the stock IPSW you should use must name “iPod3,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore.ipsw” and the custom IPSW must name “sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 3G-4.3.1.ipsw”

          •
            Mathias5 years, 5 months ago

The custom is called Sn0wbreeze_iPod Touch 4-4.3.1.ipsw What does that mean?

And the stock is called iPod4,1_4.3.1_8G4_Restore

          •
            Wolverine5 years, 5 months ago

This mean you are trying to restore custom IPSW for iPod Touch 4G to iPod Touch 3G and this is the same reason you got incompatible firmware error :)

  •
    Mathias5 years, 5 months ago

When i try to restore it says the firmware file aint compatible. Its my first time to jailbreak, so would love some help.

You both tried to upgrade your baseband from 05.16.01 or 05.16.02 to iPad baseband 06.15.00?

        •
          Radio5 years, 6 months ago

I’m not sure what my baseband is, since the menu of my iPhone 3GS is locked (requires original SIM-card to activate). But I was following this article step to step (including IPad baseband upgrade). Tried all different ways!

        •
          Radio5 years, 6 months ago

Yes, just confirmed with f0recast that my baseband is 05.16.02 bootloader 6.4

            Wolverine5 years, 6 months ago

Ok Randio, i can confirm this is a bug in Sn0wbreeze. To fix it, first downgrade to iOS 4.1 or iOS 4.2.1 (Recommended) using this guide and then use this guide to upgrade to iPad baseband. Once done, use this guide to unlock your iPhone on iPad baseband.
