RecBoot 2.1 has been released and this time it's available for all users running Mac OS X 10.5.x or above. RecBoot 2.0 was released back in Dec, 2010 and it was available for users having Mac OS X 10.6.x or above but Sebastien has made this release compatible with Mac OS X 10.5.x and plans to make his next release (RecBoot 2.2) compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.x as well.
Official changelog of RecBoot 2.1 runs below:
What did we add?
- If device isn’t in recovery mode and the user hits Exit Recovery, we don’t send the usb commands anymore.
- When the user hits the close button, kills the application. Same as CMD+Q.
- Ohhai auto-updating system. – Sparkle
- 10.5.x support.
Along with support for Mac OS X 10.5.x, RecBoot 2.1 comes with an auto-updating system which prompts you to check and download the latest version of RecBoot available. Moreover if the connected iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad is not in recovery mode, RecBoot will not send any USB commands to the device in case the user hits the 'Exit Recovery' button accidentally.
For those who don't know, RecBoot is a free software which can put any iDevice into recovery mode and kick it out of the recovery mode just with a single-click. This small piece of software is extremely useful for users with iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad with faulty home or power button.
