After selling over 14.8 million units of iPad, Apple has now started the production of iPad 2 which will be more thinner, lighter and faster when compared to the first model. iPad 2 will be featuring a front-facing camera for features like video-conferencing and a more powerful GPU. Initially iPad 2 will be available to AT&T and Verizon Wireless customers only, which confirms that iPad 2 will be coming in 2 different flavors i-e the GSM version and the CDMA version.
The new iPad will be thinner and lighter than the first model, these people said. It will have at least one camera on the front of the device for features like video-conferencing, but the resolution of the display will be similar to the first iPad, these people said. It will also have more memory and a more powerful graphics processor, they said.
According to Wall Street Journal, the new iPad will make its debut in next couple of months with the same price tag of current iPad. According to Piper Jaffray & Co. estimates, Apple will sell around 27 million units of iPad in 2011 while some investors believe that this count can rise up to 35 million units. The one feature of the new iPad that may disappoint the iPad fans is the lack of improvement in iPad 2 resolution.
