Previously, Comex confirmed that untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak for iPhone 4/3GS (New Bootrom), iPod Touch 4G/3G/2G (MC) and iPad will be released by this Christmas. The news has further been confirmed by MuscleNerd who just tweeted that untethered jailbreak for iOS 4.2.1 on iPhone 4 is under development and will be available around Xmas. Current version of Redsn0w provides semi-tethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak.
In case you don't know, untethered jailbreak means that your iDevice will not lose jailbreak if it looses its power due to battery or any other reason.
MuscleNerd for some reasons has deleted his tweet regarding iOS 4.2 untethered jailbreak, there might be some second thoughts going on about committed release date! The tweet conversation is as follows:
scotty6kids78: @MuscleNerd are we any closer to the unteathered #jailbreak for the new #ios4.2 on #iphone4 ?
MuscleNerd: @scotty6kids78 it’ll be here by Xmas (not because we’re sitting waiting for Xmas, but because it’s achievable deadline)
MuscleNerd's tweet confirms untethered iOS 4.2.1 jailbreak solution for iPhone 4 only, but it would be available for all A4 Chip iOS 4.2.1 devices, including iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G, Apple TV 2G and iPad.
You will keep you updated on this, stay tuned for more updates! [via RP]
