Geohot is back with a bang! Earlier we shared that Chronic Dev-Team will release GreenPois0n tool on October 10th, 2010 at 10:10:10AM. The tool will jailbreak iOS 4.1 on iPhone 4, iPod Touch 4G and iPad only. In response to that, few moments ago an update appeared on http://www.limera1n.com/ showing an image of all iDevices (including the ones not supported by Greenpoisi0n tool) with a Limera1n symbol.
Limera1n tool has a history. There were rumors that limera1n.com is registered by Geohot as the who.is records of limra1n.com and blackra1n.com are almost identical but later Geohot declined that he is not working on a new jailbreak tool named Limera1n. He however didn't explicitly mention Limera1n in his tweets.
Interesting thing is that both Chronic Dev-Team and iPhone Dev-Team members have confirmed that Geohot is releasing Limera1n tool. Have a look at tweet reactions from different iPhone hackers:

heh, geohot confirmed he only decided to work on limera1n when he found out we released an ETA #asshole
We are not changing our release date. If we can implement @geohots before 10/10 we will use that, otherwise we're using ours. #roadblocks
and yes it is a different bootrom exploit, he wants us to use it in GP, but there's no way we'll make our ETA if we do
yes, the news about geohot is true, the day after we release ETA he decides he wants a piece of the #pie

The significance of 10/11/10 is that its the one year anniversary of blackra1n's release. 10/11/10 is the targeted release of limera1n
My source for limera1n is geohot himself. This isn't some fake read it on a blog BS.
geohot's return is no joke. He is back and is going to release limera1n unless someone talks him out of it.
Words from @MuscleNerd
I do think it would be wise to hold one back, but I don’t think that’s going to happen
As dramatic as geohot's last-minute all-device JB is, still a shame that two bootrom holes will be burned at once.
Hackers also confirmed that Limera1n does not use SHAtter exploit. It uses a different bootom-level exploit and Chronic Dev-Team knows about this exploit. Hackers are not happy on Limera1n release by Geohot as they want him to save this exploit for next generation iDevices.
So what you think guys? Limera1n is a real deal or not? I guess we are down to wait and see game again. With all these confirmations from renowned iPhone hackers, there is some hope that it's not another rumor. We'll keep you posted. Stay tuned for more updates!
