How to Check Firmware Version of iPhone or iPod Touch?

If you want to check firmware version of iPhone or iPod Touch and want to know whether you can jailbreak it with the latest tools available, all you need is iH8sn0w's F0recast tool. F0recast is a handy tool for your iDevice through which you can check serial, baseband, bootloader, model and firmware version of your device with ease.

There are two ways to check the firmware version of your device:

Method 1:

  • Download and install F0recast. (Find download links at the end of post)
  • Just plug your iPhone to your computer with USB cable and launch f0recast.exe to view the firmware version of your iPhone.
  • F0recast for iPhone & iPod Touch
    Note that your iPhone model along with the firmware version is visible at the bottom of F0recast window. In the above screenshot, its iPhone 3G running iOS 4.1 final version.

Method 2:

  • Navigate to Settings->General->About and see for value infront of Version as shown in the screenshot below.
  • iPhone Baseband Version
    As you can see in the above screenshot, this device is running iOS 4.1 with 05.11.07 baseband version.

    when install F0recast and plug in the Ipod. this is what i got

    Serial #——-
    Baseband: N/A
    Bootloader:N/A
    Model:———
    Jailbreakable?: No Jailbreak available.
    Unlockable?: N/A
    Tethered?: Depaends on Jailbreak.
    It this mean i can Jailbreak my Ipod at all ?

      Its because you are using F0recast when your iPhone is in DFU or Recovery Mode.

        What should I do can I still beable jailbreak my iPod at all. Because I did step by step instruction , but there’s still no sign of limera1n anywhere. Please help me jailbreak this iPod .thak you
