GreenPois0n Tool Delayed Due to Limera1n Unexpected Release

GreenPois0n which was supposed to be released on 10/10/10 at 10:10:10AM has been delayed due to the surprise release of Geohot's Limra1n tool on 09/10/10. According to Chronic Dev-Team, they have delayed GreenPois0n tool because releasing it after Limera1n would be of no use than to loose another important exploit called SHAtter.

Chronic Dev-Team GreenPois0n Update

Update via Chronic Dev-Team blog:

Thanks to the irresponsible antics of geohot, we will have to delay the release of greenpois0n (new ETA = as soon as possible), so that we have time to clean up his little mess and integrate the exploit he uses in limera1n into greenpois0n. This way, we can save SHAtter for future devices that may still be vulnerable to it.

We know that this is not what some people want to hear, but due to geohot needing to feed his ego (as usual) and revealing his limera1n exploit, we do not have any other responsible options.

GreenPois0n Delayed

For those who don't know, GreenPois0n tool was based on a low-level bootrom exploit called SHAtter which was found by pod2g, former member of Chronic Dev-Team. Though Limera1n is also based on a bootrom exploit found by Geohot couple of months ago in Apple A4 processor but it's completely different exploit from SHAtter. Now the exploit used in Limera1n has been made public with the release of Limera1n tool, Apple will definitely patch it in the next-gen iOS devices. However, there are chances that Apple might not be able to fix the SHAtter exploit because of this wise decision by Chronic Dev-Team.
