Motorola Droid to Get Android 2.2 / Froyo Update in August [Verizon]

Motorola Droid without any doubts is one of the best smartphones produced by Motorola. It has certainly lifted-up Motorola's credibility in smartphone arena. In U.S, Verizon customers hold major chunk of Motorola Droid handsets. The cellular network in a recent statement has announced that original Motorola Droid will get an update to Android 2.2 aka Froyo starting from first week of August.

Froyo update on Motorola Droid will significantly improve user experience. Major enhancements Android 2.2 will bring to Droid include - increased speed, better performance and Flash 10.1 support.

For those who don't know, U.S version of Motorola Droid is CDMA based and is exclusively licensed by Verizon, so Verizon's Droid users can't update their phones to latest ver. of Android OTA (over the air) unless Verizon allows to do so. Froyo update for non-U.S version of Motorola Droid known as Motorola Milestone is anticipated as well but there is no definite ETA at the moment.
