How To Install DEB, IPA Files on iPhone without SSH Access?

If you don't have a Wifi router in your home, you can still install .DEB and .IPA apps on your iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad without the using any SSH client like WinSCP or Cyberduck. All you need is a jailbroken iPhone and DiskAid installed on your computer. DiskAid is available for both Windows and Mac users. Follow these step-by-step guides to install .DEB and .IPA on your iDevice without SSH access.

Steps to Install .DEB and .IPA Files on iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad

  1. Download DiskAid for PC or Mac from here (14 days FREE trial)
  2. Install DiskAid on your computer.
  3. Make sure you have jailbroken iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. If you haven't jailbreaked your device yet, you can jailbreak it with JailbreakMe.
  4. Once jailbreaked, open Cydia on your jailbroken device and install afc2add. There is no need to add any additional repository, just search and install afc2add application. It will allow DiskAid to access the root of your device, hence allowing you to copy or replace firmware files.
  5. Afc2add Cydia

  6. Reboot your device after installing "afc2add"
  7. Search for "MobileTerminal" and install it.
  8. MobileTerminal

  9. For installing .IPA files, you will need to install "Installous" too. Click here for step-by-step instructions to install "Installous".
  10. Installous Cydia

  11. Connect your device to your PC or Mac and start DiskAid.
  12. You will notice that as soon as you will plug your device to your computer, DiskAid will detect your device.
  13. To install .IPA files, navigate to /var/mobile/Documents/Installous/Downloads and drag the IPA file to this directory.
  14. DiskAid IPA Installous

  15. Launch "Installous" app on your device and see the Downloads section to install the IPA app.
  16. Installous

  17. To install .DEB file, place it in the tmp folder and launch the MobileTerminal app to run the following command
  18. su

    alpine

    dpkg -i /tmp/myapp.deb

    DiskAid DEB Tmp Folder
    OR

  19. Copy the .DEB file in the location below and reboot your device to install it.
  20. /var/root/Media/Cydia/AutoInstall

    OR

    IMPORTANT FOR PROBLEMS WITH INSTALLOUS!!!!

I have an iPod Touch 4, 4.3.3, jailbroken with JailBreakMe.com, Installous 4 didn't work, it just crashed whenever I tried to install, so I found Install0us on the source: "http://cydia.xsellize.com/," fixed my problems instantly. All I had to do differently was run DiskAid and select the "root" folder on the left side and instead locate "//var/mobile/Downloads/" where I installed the IPA files.

there's no winterboard main screen on my winterboard app.. when i launched winterboard the main screen is the list of themes.. i would appreciate if you could give me the link on where i can download winterboard.deb file compatible for my ipod touch 3.1.3.. i cant find one on the internet..

    • http://twitter.com/pram0dm Pramod

Well then you might want to check if the theme itself that you had downloaded is compatible with your iOS or not. You need to read the details of the theme before you download them from Cydia. Since your on iOS 3.1.3 (which you had failed to mention earlier), the probability of getting a theme for the 3.1.3 might be very very less when compared to those available for iOS 4.x.

    thank you men... its working....

    • http://twitter.com/pram0dm Pramod

Do you hit the Respring button on the top-left corner always after you have made changes before you exit?

  • cara

how will i know if the .deb file is compatible for my ios?

    • http://twitter.com/pram0dm Pramod

Google is your best friend. Also, almost all the deb files that you find around are compatible with iOS 4.x.x, but just to make sure of it, do a background check on the same as well.

  • klodi

Y R THE MAN man!!!!!!!!!thanks a lot your description was very understandable.

  • anonymous

i have a jailbroken iphone 3gs with 4.2.1 software. i tried to install a dreamboard .deb file, but everytime i try to load it it just crashes! ive tried repooting, respringing, and reinstalling but happens everytime.. please help!

    • http://twitter.com/pram0dm Pramod

Probably the .deb theme isn't compatible with 4.2.1 and that's the reason for the crash. Do check for compatibility before installing the .deb for your iOS.

    hello..
i have gevy sim and i updated my phone to 4.3.3 and i get stucked on my phone to connect to itunes .. and on itunes the sim you insert ..etc ... and iam not jealbreak my phone yet ..

    • http://twitter.com/pram0dm Pramod

If you have the official SIM that came with your iPhone while it was locked, go ahead and pop in that SIM and connect to iTunes. That will get you out of the Emergency Screen. (Do not use the official SIM with the Gevey. Remove the Gevey tray and use the original tray when you pop in the new SIM).
