As anticipated, Verizon has started rolling OTA (over-the-air) Android 2.2 (Froyo) updates for Motorola Droid. If you are a Verizon customer, you should receive a software update notification on your Motorola Droid notification bar. Update process is pretty straight forward, just ensure that your phone is connected to internet and wait for the update to complete.
If you haven't received any update notification yet then go to Menu > Settings > About phone > Software Updates in your Motorola Droid and check for updates available.
The improvements Froyo will bring to Motorola Droid are improved Speed, better Performance, Flash 10.1 support, increased Browser performance, improved Android App Store (Marker) GUI, better Multimedia experience and automatic syncing between desktop and applications.
Verizon however exempted the feature of Mobile Wi-Fi hotspot from Froyo update, reason being hardware limitations. In a nutshell, Android 2.2 update for Motorola Droid will definitely improve the user experience, so update your device to new OS and enjoy the new shiny features. Do give us your feedback about it.
