All iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch users can now jailbreak iOS 4.0 while preserving their baseband version. iH8sn0w, the infamous iPhone hacker behind f0recast and iReb has released Sn0wbreeze 1.6 which jailbreaks iOS 4.0 on all iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS and iPod Touch 2G on Windows.
For those who don't know: Sn0wbreeze is a port of PwnageTool on Windows which jailbreaks iPhone firmware by creating a custom IPSW file which can be restored to your iPhone via iTunes to jailbreak it.
If you want to jailbreak iPhone 3GS with Sn0wbreeze 1.6, you need to have an iPhone 3GS with "Old BootRom" as well as it must be already jailbroken with a tool other than Spirit. If you have jailbroken your iPhone 3GS with Comex Spirit tool, you need to wait until iPhone Dev Team releases a new tool which could also jailbreak iOS 4.0 on those iPhones which are previously jailbreaked through Spirit. The only constraint to jailbreak iPod Touch 2G users is that they must have a non-MC model inorder to jailbreak iOS 4.0 on their iPod Touches.
If your iPhone and iPod Touch is in compliance with the above conditions then follow our step-by-step guide here to jailbreak iPhone 3G, 3GS and iPod Touch 2G with Sn0wbreeze 1.6.
