Guide To Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3 & OS 3.1.2 With Spirit

Here is a step-by-step guide to jailbreak all iDevices (iPhone 2G/3G/3GS, iPod Touch 2G/3G) on iPhone OS 3.1.3 and iPhone OS 3.1.2 with the Spirit jailbreak tool which has been recently released by iPhone-Dev Team. For those who don't know, Spirit will jailbreak all iDevices on latest firmwares untethered. Before you may proceed to jailbreak your iPhone or iPad Touch with the said tool, it is requested to backup your SHSH blobs using AutoSHSH Grabber RC2 or Firmware Umbrella. You might need to know your ECID incase you use Firmware Umbrella. To know your ECID, follow the steps here. Once done, follow the steps below to jailbreak your iDevice with Spirit tool.

Steps To Jailbreak iPhone OS 3.1.3 and OS 3.1.2 With Spirit Tool

Find all download links at the end of the article.

  1. Download Spirit tool for Windows and Mac.
  2. Download iTunes 9.1.1.
  3. Your iPhone or iPod Touch must be on official iPhone OS 3.1.3 or iPhone OS 3.1.2.
  4. Now run the Spirit tool you downloaded in step 1.
  5. If you are a Windows 7 user, you must run Spirit tool in compatibility mode. To do so, right click on Spirit.exe and choose Properties. Jump to Compatibility tab and select Windows 98 / Windows Me as shown in the screenshot below.

  6. Mac users are requested to skip the above step. As far as windows users are concerned, you should follow the instructions in above step, otherwise you may encounter error c0000005.
  7. Now connect your iPhone 2G/3G/3GS or iPod Touch 2G/3G model via USB cable to your PC / Mac. Once connected, hit the jailbreak button to jailbreak your iDevice.

  10. Now your iPhone or iPod Touch will reboot. Thats it after reboot, enjoy Cydia on your device.

    Hello. I use software like Mobile 3gs my spirit with firmware 3.1.3 jailbreak, but do spirit and gives error c0000138 Mynvys·h Computer window.

    I have to devices at home. The first one is iphone 3GS 16GB, which I used this tutorial for. It is now jailbroken and good to go.

    However, I have an iPhone 3G 8GB with 3.1.2 firmware. I used Umbrella to run the ECID and then I upgraded to 3.1.3. Now I can't seem to jailbreak my iphone (8GB) for some reason. I open the spirit in compatibility mode on windows 7 and the jailbreak button is disabled. the Message is:

    Device iPhone 3G (3.1.3) is not supported.

    I just can't figure out why??
    any ideas?
