Mingchi Kuo, Digitimes Research senior analyst, is reporting that Apple have plans to release iPad Mini in the first quarter of 2011. This mini tablet will have a 5.7-inch multitouch touchscreen and will be costing your around 400 USD. iPad-Mini will be mainly targeting those who people who focus on reading and do not have a high demand for text-input. A 5.7-inch touchscreen of iPad Mini makes it a direct competitor to Dell Streak, a 5-inch tablet from DELL which is expected to be released in April 2010. Similarly price of iPad Mini makes it a direct competitor to Kindle.

Kuo further added HP Slate will not offer much competition to Apple's iPad as HP Slate have Intel processor which consumes more power as compared to A4 processor of iPad. Moreover Windows 7 in HP Slate is likely to drain battery much quicker than Apple's choice of ARM/iPX OS. For those who don't know, HP slate is an upcoming 8.9-inch tablet from HP which is expected to be released in June 2010.
