Windows 8 To Be Released In Year 2012?

Yes, Microsoft has finally satisfied its customers by releasing Windows 7 after a disappointing Windows Vista experience. Just after the release of Windows 7, rumors about Window 8 features, specs and release date began to emerge. An unknown Microsoft employee known to be part of Windows Update Team said that Window 8 will be "something completely different" from what folks usually expect of Windows.

The post was deleted from MSDN Blogs as Microsoft don't want to reveal anything about next version of Windows. Thanks to Google cache through which we can view the content of the webpages even after they’ve been deleted. You may view the complete cached page here but the two key quotes are as follows:

The minimum that folks can take for granted is that the next version will be something completely different from what folks usually expect of Windows.

The themes that have been floated truly reflect what people have been looking for years and it will change the way people think about PCs and the way they use them. It is the future of PCs.

I really can't see why Microsoft deleted the post as there is noting spectacularly confidential there. Anyhow after the successful release of Windows 7, people are really expecting something new from Microsoft in Windows.next. John Mangelaars, Regional VP of Consumer and Online at Microsoft EMEA, is quoted today on the website CIO as saying the following:

[Apple is] doing well on the PC side but Windows 7 is a blockbuster. We got it really right. For me, Windows 8 will be mind-blowing.

Another rumor is that Windows 8 (codename Midori) will be released in only 64-bit version. The RTM version of Windows 8 is expected to be released in July 2011, however the final release of Windows 8 is expected in year 2012.
