WinRAR is no doubt one of the most famous compression tools. Many websites upload files to their server by compressing them in a RAR file to save bandwidth and space. WinRAR is a tool made to create and decompress RAR files. You can install WinRAR on Ubuntu (Linux) with just one terminal command. Its usage in Ubuntu is very similar to Windows. You can easily compress and decompress files and folders in Ubuntu using WinRAR.
Use the following terminal command to install WinRar
sudo aptitude update && sudo aptitude install rar unrar
How To Use WinRAR In Ubuntu (Linux)
After instllation, just right click on any RAR file and choose Extract Here option to extract files / folders in that RAR file.

Choose Extract Here
To create a RAR archive, simply right-click on any file / folder you want to compress and choose Create Archive.... Select RAR in compression types and hit Create button when done !

After writing the command sudo ,terminal ask me the password whereas the keyboard does not work ??

Thanks, it work great, now i can extract some files before i couldn’t.
@airtonix although extract here menu is present but it wont extract RAR files until you install rar package by the above terminal command.
By the way, its not winrar…
and that extract here menu…that exists even without the rar libs.
it’s due to the file-roller package.
