hey if i update my iphone 3gs to 3.0.1 will my modem firmware update tooo ???

my iphone currently has software 3.0 and modem firmware 04.26.08

i want to jailbreak and unlock it so i need to know if it will unlock to any sim carrier i want if i try to update it to 3.0.1

i had update my iphone 3g to version 3.1 but now i download back to 3.0.1 but i am not be able to jailbreak could u help me
i look on the internet few said if after updating with 3.1 ver your firmware 05.11.07 not allow u to install jailbreak i have 5.11 firmware but ver 3.0.1
is their any way i can install jailbreak

i follow all procedure but just stucked downloading jailbreak data on iphone thats only shawn in iphone. what should i do now ?
