Should I Buy Apple’s MacBook Air or Not?

I recently conducted a survey for a friend of mine, who was interested in buying Apple’s ultra thin MacBook Air, if someone shows you this fine piece of engineering from Apple, the first thing that comes in your mind is – its awesome!, I am buying it :), but when I shuffled across some of its reviews I found some interesting things, which I thought to share. I will briefly describe pros and cons of MacBook Air to help you people in making a decision, who are interested in buying MacBook Air.

  • MacBook Air is amazingly thin, height varies from (0.16-0.76) inch, and width is 12.8 inch
  • With Ultra Thin, it’s also Ultra Light weight, it only weights 1.36Kg
  • Amazing sleek design
  • Quite large display, 13.3 inch LCD
  • It comes with 1.6GHz or 1.86GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor with 6MB on-chip shared L2 cache running
  • 2GB RAM
  • Elegant Backlit keyboard with ambient light sensor for automatic adjustment of keyboard illumination and screen brightness
  • Long and efficient battery life, it comes with integrated 37-watt-hour lithium-polymer battery proving up to 4.5 hors of backup time
  • Improved graphics card, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M
  • Special touchpad with Multi-Touch technology. You can actually pinch, swipe, or rotate to zoom in on text, advance through a photo album, or adjust an image trough motion of your fingers on touchpad
  • New innovative way of sharing a DVD drive from another computer on same network through inbuilt 802.11n wi-fi and Bluetooth


  • You need to share another computer’s DVD drive on the same network to watch a DVD on MacBook Air, so it’s a big disadvantage i-e it has no DVD drive
  • No Serial Port
  • Only one USB 2.0 port
  • Battery of MacBook Air in not removable, so in order to change its battery, you need to take it to an apple store
  • For additional connections with MacBook Air, you need to use external devices
  • Only 80GB hard drive
  • Expensive
